Man charged after barking at police dog

OHIO – Don’t bark back at a police dog.

That’s the moral of the story for a 25-year-old man accused of an unusual offense: teasing a police dog.

Ryan James Stephens of Mason was charged with that misdemeanor after a police officer said Stephens was “making barking noises and was hissing at the police dog inside of the car,” a police report says.

Officer Bradley Walker was outside the car investigating a car crash at the Mason Pub around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he said he heard the animal “barking uncontrollably” in response to Stephens’ alleged taunting.

“Timber (the dog) responded as trained and started to bark,” the officer wrote. Walker alleges that he attempted to confront Stephens but Stephens walked away and ignored commands to stop. The officer said he did ask Stephens why he was harassing the animal, and Stephens replied, “The dog started it.”

Walker said Stephens showed signs of being “highly intoxicated,” and he warned Stephens he was being detained and was ordered to sit in the rear of another officer’s cruiser.

The report says officers told Stephens that “deliberate teasing would result in the (dog) responding aggressively and that response could potentially injure the (dog).”

Stephens was released to a bar employee who promised to drive him home.

Stephens has been ordered to appear on the charge April 21 in Mason Municipal Court.

Oh please, utilize your basic common sense. The Police is the Law and represents the Law. Police dogs serve a purpose which you should know about. Do it need to be explained to you?

So the dog is here to protect Dominicans. At first I thought the man was within his wits and idle while barking at the Police dog. You do not tamper with the Police or the Police dog. I thought he should have known better not to bark at a Police dog and that he is a foolish man.
Having read the fact as reported by the Police on this Website, he was drunk. Being intoxicated could docause him to do anything. He was exonerated due to his faculties being impaired and appeared not to know what he was doing.
Since he was intoxicated in public he should be charged. He is a public nuisance and was disturbing the peace and of the Police dog. The latter makes me laugh. Funny story. Only in Dominica you say? That is the best I can state for now folks. :)

      Correction: Sorry!

When I wrote this last night I was somewhat distracted and overlooked the place this incident occurred. In fact the electricity went off a few times which annoyed and frustrated me and I was angry; even lost some information which I had typed. When this occurs it also affects computer systems. I also had to telephone my Internet provider because my computer system speed was low after the lights went out.
I do believe that Hydro Ontario is playing tricks with consumers. My plan is to telephone my MPP’s office to complain and also to write Hydro and the Minister who is responsible for this department. I can understand that once the electricity will go out but three times in three hours! We, too, in Canada – Ontario have our problems and too many with those suppliers/providers. One would think that they would measure up better than they do. They fail in many respects. No better than Dominica in this case. :)

Zor! Well de dog is a police, and all you know using foul language to an officer is an offence, especially while de officer is on the beat. De pardner say: grrrrrrrrrrr woof woof woof hoow hoow hoow, and to de dog that meant “Mash, and F*$% you, dirty babylon chien sal”, tell me how that is not a crime. De dog working hard, it probably all paying tax, so i doh see why de dog cannot have rights like any babylon.

He should have been placed in the back seat with the dog for at least an hour. We have laws on our books in Dominica regarding such offences who knows we might soon have some copy cats so to our law men and women start brushing up our law books. Where i live in Mahaut persons bark at my dogs all the time so look out I am not going to take it easy again.
