STATEN ISLAND – A Staten Island mom allegedly whacked her baby daddy over the head with a cooking pot on Tuesday — because she was furious that he hadn’t bought her a Mother’s Day gift.
“I hit him with a pot, and I’m glad I did!” a steamed Aretavia Kimbrough, 28, allegedly told cops after nailing boyfriend Charmean Allen, 28, with the pot, leaving him with a 4-inch gash and a big lump on his head.
“I’ve been with him for seven years, and he never bought me nothing!” she fumed.
But Allen, who has an 8-month-old son with Kimbrough, later insisted to The Post, “I was going to get her balloons and candy and take her to dinner. But I can’t take her to dinner because the police aren’t releasing her.”
With his head still wrapped in bandages, Allen added, “She has a little bit of a temper, I’d say. This is probably the end for us. But I’ll take care of my kid.”
Allen said Kimbrough woke him in their Stapleton apartment at around 7 a.m., demanding to know what he had bought her to celebrate her first Mother’s Day as a mama. He immediately realized he was in trouble.
Kimbrough was holding their son, Charmean Allen Jr., in one arm — and a large pot, “the kind you cook corn in,” in her other hand, he said.
As he tried to explain that he had hoped to purchase gifts and take her to dinner, she walloped him on the head with the pot, and then stormed out of the room, Allen said. The wounded boyfriend said he called a friend on the phone to get help. The pal then called 911, Allen said.
When police and EMTs arrived, Charmean told them that he did not need to go to the hospital and that he didn’t want to press charges against Kimbrough.
But cops arrested the “crazed-looking” mom anyway.
Kimbrough is expected to be arraigned on domestic-violence charges, law-enforcement sources said.

While I will never condone male-female abuse or vice versa- there is indeed a lesson here to be learned. Eight years in a relationship- never a gift- who am I to say that he never said “I love you”, held her hands in public and made her feel special. But women have and will continue to go through great lengths to please their partners. Women are by nature- nurturers and care givers; granted modern day has placed some sort of a spin to the phrase. Regardless, men (well some or most men) do not take the time to appreciate women as they rightly should. They tend to their every need, emotionally, physically, and those who are really committed to their men- stand by them in good times and bad. Now, I do not know neither will I assume the terms and condition of their relationship- but “her first child” and presumably his as well, that should mean something to him.
Too many times, more so in this century than none, men go around spreading their “royal oats”, like sex and ejaculation is running out of style. He claimed he wanted to take her to dinner and get balloons- fine- the incident occurred on Tuesday and Mother’s day was Sunday. There well may be a lesson to be learned.

This is why I love to access DON. I am always curious to know what is happening in Dominica and also to read some international news that I do not hear even on CNN or local news, unless I missed out on hearing them.
Even though it is said that the woman looks crazy, nevertheless, this man needs to have his head examined. He lacks true love and needs to be taught about love, caring and being considerate. It may be that he was not appropriately nurtured. He must be taught those important matters of life and what it takes to make a woman truly happy and on a day as Mother’s Day. When it comes to matters of the heart he has immensely failed.
He may not be a bad person but he needs to be taught some loving facts of life. He did take the woman for granted. I hope that he learns a good lesson from this. Let us hope he never forgets in the future.
He knew that it was Mother’s Day and every Mother looks forward to relevant greetings, a card, gift, dinner.
This is not something which the men/children plan the morning of Mother’s Day or when they visit them. They plan it in advance. As we are aware of, some of them will cook breakfast, at least, for her and take her out. Their loving husbands do as well.
It is a wonderful gesture for mothers who bear children, nurture them, cook, clean, etc. for them, for their husbands or boyfriends.
In addition, it will assist mothers worldwide to be loving and caring. Those mothers who project this are rewarded and should be.
In today’s world Mother’s Day has become significant and has a significant meaning. It is not observed without reason.
Those whom I did not see for Mother’s Day, be it that they reside overseas, I telephoned everyone of them and wished them a Happy Mother’s Day. Even those whom I saw I make it my duty to telephone them in advance.
A few others who reside overseas, I also sent a Mother’s Day Greeting to them by email.
When Father’s Day comes around, I will do likewise. Those days are worth remembering, showing others that we care and their input and sacrifice of family life is well-worth it.
Spread love, joy and peace. It goes a long way. What goes around comes around and two-fold.
I hope all Dominican Mothers wherever they reside in the world had a happy and enjoyable Mother’s Day.
