CHICAGO – A CHICAGO woman is accused of strapping her baby’s corpse into a sling and taking him shopping after killing the three-month old in a drunken rage, local media reported on Wednesday.
Ken Blackman Jr had been dead for eight to 14 hours when the woman wrapped up her shopping trip and went to visit a neighbour, who noticed blood on the baby blanket and called 911.
Prosecutors told the Chicago Sun Times that Toyrianna Smith, 20, beat and suffocated her baby because he wouldn’t stop crying on June 22.
She had been drinking vodka at a friend’s house and spent the night in their guest room with the baby. She slipped out of the house the next day before the baby’s father came to pick him up.
Smith, 20, is being held in jail on a US$1 million (S$1.23 million) bond on charges of first-degree murder.

This is so sad. How do people have the guts to hurt innocent babies.
I just don’t understand how a person could hurt any child! If the baby was crying it must have been hungry, wet, or hurting, did she not think of that! If she didn’t want the child she should have just given it to the father or something. My heart goes out to the babies family and I hope God brings them some kind of peace, as for her she deserves what she gets!

sad story to read,so she slept at the friends home and was drunk and she was still in the present of the baby,i really did not understand,were they not aware the she had to much to drink or were they all to drunk.

A life for a life…no justice by keeping this woman alive. For sure on judgement day the child will ask her for what reason was she killed. All these fake judges will answer to All Mighty Allah due to not ruling by the book of Allah and the legal statements of the last Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
Is this woman mentally ill? Who will bail her out for that sum of money? Rest assured this is where she will remain, in prison until the case is called and thereafter when she is sentenced. If it can be proved that she has a mental disorder, she will be sent to a mental home. I do hope wherever she will be that she will receive help.
From what I have also heard on U.S. TV, there are some Americans, men and women who murder their children, parents, other family members and other people.
Many Americans are sick people; some are mental. No exception other progressive countries of the world. It is so sad.
Some of them had no parental guidance. They may not have been brought up in the faith. Some were disobedient and preferred following their own ways and ended up in a rot.
Tonight I was at the grocery store. While in line waiting to pay for my groceries, I saw a woman with a newborn baby and I thought, as always whenever I see young children, “what will this child grow up to be.”
Many want children; many have children whether they planned on them or not. Some of them are not prepared to have children. Noting that some of them do not nurture their children appropriately and also murder them, it appears that these should never have children.
There are times I contemplate on this and the thought crosses my mind that the government, the Children’s Aid or other relevant non-profit organization should be more helpful when especially young single women are pregnant and later have children. The fathers too, some of them young are in need of counseling.
Those mothers do need help. Their children suffer due to poor parenting.
I will not lambaste this young mother. I do feel sorry for her. It appears that she has a severe problem whatever it may be.
It is amazing how many unhappy people there are in the world. At the same time there are many organizations who could assist and do assist including individuals. Yet, we hear of those sad stories.
The baby is in the hands of God, in Heaven. This baby, an angel, will never suffer. This is the only consolation.
