Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has described a United Nations (UN) Arbitral Tribunal ruling on the South China Sea as unfortunate and hopes that it is reviewed.

Earlier this week the court ruled against China in its claims to rights in the South China Sea, in a case brought by the Philippines.

Speaking at a Signing Ceremony of Letters of Exchange between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the West Coast Road Post Erika Rehabilitation Project, Skerrit said the tribunal listened to only one side of the argument.

“Our view is that the tribunal’s decision was rather unfortunate having only listened to one side of the matter and a decision taken,” he said.

Skerrit stated that he hopes the decision is reviewed “and all sides can be heard on this matter and a sensible decision arrived at.”

The South China Sea dispute has been raging for years with rival countries, including China, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia, wrangling over territory and waters but tension has steadily increased in recent years, with China claiming 85 percent while building islands and sending out naval patrols in the area.

China insists it has “historic rights” in asserting its ownership of the region believed to be rich in natural gas resources and also a vital trade route for international cargo ships.

However, in its ruling the tribunal said there is no evidence that China had historically exercised exclusive control over the waters or resources.

China has said the ruling is “ill-founded,” adding it will not be bound by it.

  1. “Our view is that the tribunal’s decision was rather unfortunate having only listened to one side of the matter and a decision taken,” he said.”(Roosevelt Skerrit).

You know I will be the first to proclaim that I am an idiot, I am calling (me Francisco) an idiot. However, I do not believe their is a more notorious …. than Roosevelt Skerrit; the more I read that boy ridiculous comment its the more I discover how un-scholastically educated is Skerrit!

How can a tribunal base its decision by listening to one side of evidence in a court case in a court of law? Only an illiterate person would make a stupid statement like that!

And so I must inform Skerrit, that a tribunal is a court of justice, it is a platform for magistrates, and judges, it is a court which decides, or determine such; as the Claims China made claiming that the South China Sea, belongs solely to China; and any international sea going ships utilizing the economic zone without China’s permission are in…

    • Continue:
It is a court which decides, or determine such; as the Claims China made claiming that the South China Sea, belongs solely to China; and any international sea going ships utilizing the economic zone without China’s permission are in violation of sea travel in their territorial waters.

That Tribunals is one of the same international court of justice, which presides over international war crimes, it is a seat, or bench for a judge, or judges. If it is a court it can only sit in judgement after hearing the petitioners case; and then listening to the respondent, or defendant side in the incident. So for the prime minister of country to make a stupid comment as that in the quote above, is a disgrace to the people of our country. How stupid can Skerrit be to insinuate “Our view is that the tribunal’s decision was rather unfortunate having only listened to one side of the matter and a decision taken.”

Was Skerrit there in the tribunals court?

      What knowledge has Skerrit…

    • Conclusion:

Was Skerrit there in the tribunals court?

What knowledge has Skerrit pertaining to the ancient waters of the South China Sea. Powers such as the United States, for many years told China they have no claims to that part of the World ocean to which they claim, nevertheless, this boy from Vieille Case is talking about “Our view.” Benign a puppet of the Chines they programmed him to talk that crap, he is a victim of the circumstances he created in Dominica, for himself; he is like a prisoner taken by some terrorist grope, and in a plea for his life they gave him a script to read on Television whiles his captures stand behind him with we know what in their hands; Skerrit is a clown; I feel sorry for him!

This is just a joke> What does Skerrit know about the geo-politics of this region? I guess if it has to do with the state palace and other free trips to China then all of a sudden he is an expect on the south China sea and its territorial despite. Skerrit stop making a mockery of yourself and our little island.-Keep quiet- please.

“Donkey have no right in horses thing” PM Skerrit don’t you get it; except for your DLP (mouton batallie mamie and company) no one else is listening to you. Your shallow utterances is evident that you don’t even know if you coming or going. Because you are enjoying the crumbs of the Chinese economy is no reason to ass – if- y yourself and in the process expose the intelligence (or lack) of innocent Dominicans to the international world; why don’t you invite the Chinese to come and build some of those islands in our waters. Papa bondie! where did we find the most intelligent PhD, PM in the entire Caribbean? help us somebody please.

  10. Shut up Skerrit; who died and left you China’s refry; which god died and made you replace him as god? You are a nobody in world affairs. What is unfortunate about what? China is a bully believed they could railroad the people of the Philippines, and annex there tertiary?

The Philippines people and government are not idiots; although there are different political factions in the Philippines fighting for control of that country for many decades. They however stood together, and take the issue to an international tribunal in a world court; where the people of the Philippines prevailed over China.

The court ruled that China has no traditional claim to what they term “the South China sea.” Who are you boy, to believe that the United Nations declare China has no right in that massive economic zone, a little nobody like you can influence the overturn of the verdict by you staying in Dominica talking fart!

You should have learnt a lesson from that and challenge Venezuela’s…

    • Continuation:

You should have learnt a lesson from that event, and challenge Venezuela’s claim to Bird island in the same court; the arbitration tribunal might rule in Dominica’s favor; but you are to weak to stand as a man and fight for our country. You rather to crawl on your yellow belly like a crapo and allow the Venezuelans to spit in your face in your face each time you beg for a handout.

You are not concern about what is right about the case and the outcome, you are taking sides with China, as you said Dominica is the only island in the Caribbean to honor the one China Policy! How stupid a person you are to make that claim.

Skerrit I’ll tell you what when China make a move to blockaded the traffic in that part of the World, when the United States, and the allies send their Navy, and combat tropes into the area, you guy get you Dominica tropes and go and defend China. Boy something is wrong with you!

I suspect you are not quite normal!

It is my humble opinion that Skerrit should shut up, only if he is singing for his supper……….that he is good for. China is behaving like a big bully. Look at the map and examine closely the geographical distance of China to these shrubs they converted to islets, to that of where the Philippines is and the other surrounding countries. This is nasty by China and like Venezuela, irrespective of their abuse, corruption, bullying, Skerrit wants friends and gets them cheaply and he is happy with this.
Dominica is in a bad state, increasing of poverty and begging bowl stretched out, that is how this man and his corrupt Labour party bring Dominica

Skerrit you should tell us exactly why don’t you go to that same court and let them here your side of the story when it comes to bird island. Stop being a little boy and be a man, the tribunal ruling was the correct and true ruling. China is as greedy as Venezuela. Go fight for what is our own and stay out of China’s nonsense.

Roosevelt Skerritt, come on.The international community says what China is doing in the South China Sea is illegal and you say it’s unfortunate. We in Dominica know you have scant regard for laws and think it’s what Roosevelt want’s that determines right from wrong. You said that no Constitution could hold you back from breaking the law in Dominica.Well the rest of the world is taking note that you are a one man wrecking crew,a broke one at that. You turned your back on the OECS, Caricom,The OAS, now the international community. In your own mind you are very important, but That’s where it ends.Skerritt think about the children and think about tomorrow.Your decisions are wrong.

Ok Skerrit explain to us then the other side of the argument. what’s your reasoning Mr. PM why China must claim %85 of the disputed territory. Please explain !!!!

    • Even if you were to pay Skerrit to answer that question, he cannot answer, because his stupid argument is not based on anything relevant to the decisions of the court. Skerrit is simply playing big; he is a what we call “a want to be heard; ” so he is farting from his mouth, proving to the Chines that only he of all the Prime Ministers of Caribbean believes and supports the “One China Policy.”

Making him a puppet, and tool of China, they uses like him to do exactly what Skerrit has done, by running his mouth off!

Skerrit is an embarrassment to himself, although he does not know it,
The man embarrasses our people each time he opens his mouth!

Former President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe, was telling me some hilarious stories about his interactions in the early 2000s with Hugo Chavez, who had recently seized power in Venezuela.
Chavez was a fanatic socialist. He believed so strongly in the idea of redistributing wealth from rich to poor. Yet even when it was clear his policies weren’t working and Venezuela was rapidly sliding into economic chaos, Chavez’s only solution was to double down and redistribute even MORE wealth. It was the classic definition of insanity. Chavez failed to understand what Uribe told me so succinctly, which is the same mistake of Roosevelt Skerrit: “If there’s no wealth creation, there’s nothing left to redistribute.”

Sometimes i really feel sorry for this man we have as Prime Minister.
Does he even think? Maybe just singing for his supper but certainly not for us.
The Chinese are claiming more than 80%, attacking its neighbors and building artificial islands and that’s is not a problem at all to Roosevelt Skerrit. Would he say that the illegal occupation in Tibet is fine as well? Way back In 1950, the Chinese decided that Tibet must become a permanent part of the People’s Republic of China and so they launched an invasion.

From a legal standpoint, Tibet has to this day not lost its statehood. It is an independent state under illegal occupation.

    Need not say more.

Oh yea, it is unfortunate that our Dear Leader cannot tend to more pressing matters in his own backyard and has to stick his nose in much bigger matters than him. It is unfortunate that the Salisbury matter is not resolved yet. It is unfortunate that tim-tim after tim-tim is being spewed out, as to when the new hospital will actually start being built. it is unfortunate that the people of Marigot are clandestinely being harrased all because of politics. It is unfortunate that agriculture, an industry which could have been revived years ago by ploughing some of that misdirected, CBI money into it, is going to the dogs. It is unfortunate that our local construction contractors were ignored for a lucrative construction contract, albeit awarded in violation of the Constitution, to a foreign company. It unfortunate that we risk alienating ourselves with the US, at a time when it is very possible that a war hawk might win the npresidential elections. It is rather unfortunate.

This guy is ‘leading’ this small country in treacherous paths. He is trying hard to please China all in relative ignorance. While a country’s leader should speak out matters that concern him or her his utterances should be measured with wisdom, consequences, ramifications and country first but not at any cost. In local terms, this reaction is called being a “boom-boom fly”.
