Top cop fears visa restrictions

Police Chief Cyril Carrette is calling on persons engaged in illegal activities to refrain from this act.

Carrette was making particular reference to the latest passport scam where three persons are assisting the police with investigations.

The top cop said if these illegal activities continue it could have serious implications for Dominica.

He said visa restriction could be imposed on nationals if this act continues.

“Serious implications for us because you would find that the countries that we want to travel to will eventually pose visa restrictions to ensure that the persons ensuring the country are legitimate. Government is trying to get Canada to lift the visa restrictions on Dominica. We also heard talks about England wanting to do the same,” he said.

I read that U.K. is considering lifting Visa restrictions for Dominicans. In view of the forged Dominican birth certificates and passports if the U.K. finds this out, they may continue the restrictions.
Those Dominican government employees have done a great disservice to Dominica. How old were they some years ago when some Chinese people visited Canada with Dominican passports? Did they not hear of it?
If the Canadian and U.S. governments are aware of that, considering that the Iranians may try to enter Canada or the U.S. with Dominican passports, the restriction may be further extended. If the Iranians did not visit those countries, those governments have a way of hearing of these matters. These days nothing is kept a secret what with (also) the Internet.

The Dominican authorities must place a premium on persons holding our passports.

When the government says they are trying to get the Canadian government to remove the visa restrictions on Dominicans, they are deaming in technicolor. These decisions by these foreign countries don’t happen overnight. They are well thought out. However, once they are made it is next to impossible to get them to reverse those decisions. The key is to sort your business out before the foreign governments impose those restrictions.

I cannot believe this man. If these perpetrators are willing to risk long spells in prison for this scam is the patriotic call thats going to influence them to stop. The man is definitely a jackass and is a disgrace to be heading the Dominica Police Force

Nor does it address the issuance and “trade” of diplomatic passports for which we have also been rebuked. All this has lowered the value and integrity of our Dominican citizenship and greed has caused the “merchants” dealing in this to, not only shoot themselves in the foot but also drag down the ordinary Dominican in the process. Respectability once lost is notoriously difficult to recover.

Please,sStop this nonsense about visa restriction, we have visa restriction, Canada is not going to remove visa restriction on Dominica.

You have a conservative Government in Power, they are cutting back on the amount of immigrants coming to Canada.

Canada had a Liberal Government in power, who asked you to give an account of how you are going to deal with the issue, you guys could not account for over 700 passports. Do you think the Right Hon. Stephen Harper is going to listen to you all? Garcon look jokes.

Our Government never made any move to deal with the situation, now you guys just talking nonsense.

Take a page from former St.Lucian Prime Minister, Dr.Kenny Anthony, asked him what he did, to avoid Canada from imposing visa restriction on his nationals due to false claims of refugees by St.Lucians.

The Man came to Ottawa, and not Toronto to party, he had a meeting with his counterpart, and had a town hall meeting with caribbean nationals; as chairman of Caricom while he was prime Minister.

He then had his harshes words for his nationals, he spoke in creole to them, and he told them, they must not encourage thier friends, family members to come to Canada, and claim refugee status, this was a serious situation, and St.Lucians were going to need visa to travel to canada.

The man dealt with the situation head on. Guess what? St.Lucians don’t need visa to travel to canada. That is leadership, enough, talk in Dominica.

Presently, this COP has lost much if not all of his credibility because of his handling of very serious matters of crime and by being a puppet of the powers that be. The man seems to be quite clueless about what is happening around him. I expect a COP to have more steel in his backbone than this one has. He speaks and says nothing, much like the present administration!! God Help us out of this mess!!

Mr. Carrette, I just cannot understand how you would know all that and yet you continue to protect high rank criminals that are making Dominica look so bad in the outside world. If you really cared about Dominican’s and the posibility of us being placed on visa ristriction, you should use your good office not just to give sweet talks when conviniant to you and the people you are protecting, but more so, to stand against all crimes including those that are being committed by honourable crimials who many Dominican’s believe are fully behind the sale of our passports. Please address them because they will not listen to us; the ball is in your court because only you can arrest them.
