Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for the Roseau North Constituency Joseph Isaac has described Roosevelt Skerrit as the greatest political leader Dominica has ever seen.
Isaac made the statement while addressing hundreds of DLP supporters during his launch at Lindo Park in Goodwill on Sunday.
“Roosevelt skerrit is the best man to lead this country,” he said. “He is the greatest political leader Dominica has ever seen.”
The crowd then echoed his sentiment when He then asked the crowd who do they want to lead this country? Their response was “Skerrit”
This is serious business,” he stated. “Doctor the Honorable Dr Roosevelt Skerrit I have travelled with him, spent time with him and I have assessed him.”
He continued, “This man is a visionary, he is a caring person, he is intelligent, compassionate, he is the greatest political leader Dominica has ever seen.”
Isaac added, “I am not saying that because I am now on the labour party platform where I belong, I said it while opposition and they wanted to kill me.”
He further added, “That is why I have joined the labour party.”
Isaac said every time he walk to Roseau North and realize how industrious many of the residents are he smiles.
“We have to appreciate what we have in this country,” he said.
Isaac explained that after Hurricane Maria he practically begged opposition leader Lennox Linton to show that the party is capable of helping people and that they really care, “but nothing was done.”
He went on to say that whenever he thinks of other opposition parties in the Caribbean coming to Dominica’s aid it hurts to know that the Dominica opposition did nothing.
“When I realized that they were not doing anything, I called on personal friends from abroad to help mobilize relief supplies for the people of Roseau Central..,” Isaac revealed. “I know that we were all in need…”
According to him, when the people of the Roseau North asked their Parl Rep [Danny Lugay] for anything, “even just to convert” he says, “go to Joseph Isaac.”
“I am here to serve everybody in Roseau North including him,” Isaac remarked.
He made it clear that his exit from the UWP was based on principle.
“I tried to convince them that there was a better way to compete in politics. Fundamentally, the issue was about Dominica first, but they were not convinced,” Isaac revealed. “I wrote the leader and placed on record my concerns and at that time I said I will not be contesting on a UWP ticket in the upcoming elections.”
According to him, it is time for capable representation, “Danny had his chance and he have blown it.”
Isaac urged people to focus on the positive in the country rather than the negatives.
“Too many times we look at the negatives and challenges that we face and don’t appreciate what we have and how far we have come,” he said pointing out that Dominica has come a long way less than two years after Hurricane Maria.
“Rebuilding our homes, restarting our businesses…,” he explained. “All of us here faced those challenges. We lost everything after Hurricane Maria, but we were strong and we are still strong; we are still standing here.”
Isaac said he grew up hearing that there is a time and place for everything.
“I decided that if there was a proper time to serve this country, this was the time where I should not focus on criticizing but to lend my hands to develop our country,” he declared.

Are you serious? I Listen to both political parties and their leaders and if i didn’t know better I would think both labour and UWP are in the opposition. The PM keeps repeating he is going to do the same thing before every election and never delivered . Open your ears and listed and eyes to see. The only development that takes place every 5 years in Dominica is everybody gets 5 years older. No development.

The fact of the matter is, Skerrit cannot win in NONE of the Roseau’s North, South, Central or valley. That’s 4 sure yep seats. Then Skerrit CANNOT win any of the North east Wesley, Marigot, Salybia, Grandfond, Castle Bruce and La plain. So that’s six more blue which brings up their tally to 10. Salsbury is another sure win and with that the UWP forms the next government though they have a good shot of adding St Joseph and Mahault plus, no doubt Dareoux will cross. So that said the only questions to be answered a day after UWP takes their oath are:
1.Will Joseph Isaac say he was joking and take credit for the fall of Skerrit?
2. Will Joseph Isaac go all the way in following the example of Judas Iscariot? I would most definitely bet on the first one.

Well, the slaves were compelled to cry and go about their business of slave labor with a sad face; indicating their love for the monsters who victimize, and abuse them mentally and physically; even when the slave owners rip their babies from their hand and sold them they were told show the happy face.

Very Interesting, My questions are (1) who or what gave Joseph Isaac the authority to evaluate leaders? (MONEY?), (2) Isaac’s pronunciation that Dr Skerritt is the greatest leader Dominica has ever had worry’s me. Did Isaac just realize that? when did he get his vision? What features of Dr Skerritt leadership gave him the realization that Dr Skerritt is the greatest leader that Dominica has ever had?
Unfortunately, what ever tools employed by Mr Joseph Isaac to evaluate Dr Skerritt’s greatness is not used by others because many would disassociate themselves from this unschooled utterance. Certainly, the local community disagrees as the numbers attending the various political rallies will attest.
