The Japan Alumni Association of Dominica (JAAD) has been attempting to increase  public awareness of the organization in Dominica.

Some 45 members of JAAD came together in a public awareness campaign on Saturday July 13th 2013.

The goal of JAAD is to promote cultural exchanges between Japanese people and Dominica and to strengthen the bond the between two nations.

Members consist mainly of people who have studied in Japan and are committed to supporting the organization.

JAAD was established in 1996 and has an active membership of 40. A total number of 90 Dominicans have studied in Japan.

Over the past few years, the Japanese government has provided direct budgetary support to JAAD to undertake various community projects to schools and other institutions in the areas of human capacity building, environment management, alumni exchange and solid waste management among others.

The organization will resume its community based and other projects in August.

I do not want to sound prejudice but I thought, Dominica does not belong to us anymore, celebrating Japanese Alumni Association. Goodbye Dominica! O Lord, please help!
On the other hand I do not see any students who studied in Canada, US or Europe, most from Great Britain, returning to celebrate the Alumni Association of those countries. So what is happening here?

Observer, do you know that there are Dominicans ALL over the globe, and that they express their culture and lifestyle and contribute to their communities, where ever they are? Why is it always a problem when other people come to Dominica, folks like you get so resentful? I hope you are not living in a foreign country as we speak (sic). Cultural exchange is is great for creating a vibrant and sustained society.

I do live in a foreign Country, USA. I have no problem with help for my Country from any other Country willing to assist. I made my comment based on ALL of the comments from people from previous posts relative to their feelings about foreigners back home. Resentful? On the contrary. Have you read comments referencing Passport sale, Communism, Religion, Gay and Lesbian, etc.? My comment was well placed, with no ill will. I would love to see my homeland progress. Hello!

I am well aware of the number of Dominicans that reside worldwide, more than what is left back home as a matter of fact. We go to theirs, they go to ours. Nothing is wrong with that.

The Japanese VOLUNTEERS are here building a better Dominica for Dominicans(DAPD, Fisheries, Health etc). Are you seriously going to sit there and talk BS like that. You “Observer” and the people that like your rubbish comment sicken me. Why don’t you take the time and educate yourself about what it is they are doing before your post nonsense like that. Then you are the same person that is going to turn around and ask why Dominica isn’t moving forward. :-|
