Contractor, Jacques Gaddharkan has been indicted following investigations of suspected movements of funds beginning some two years ago.
According to a report appearing on the 14th of June 2019 on the website of the radio station and media company RCI in Guadeloupe, this action involved one of Gaddharkan’s construction companies.
However, the article states that he was freed under judicial supervision pending further investigations into the matter
Gaddharkan is accused, in particular, of misuse of corporate assets dating back several years. In 2017 an alert had been launched. According to the investigations carried out since, the damage to the company SOTRADOM would amount to several hundreds of thousands of euros and even up to a million euros. The accused who is described in the article as an entrepreneur in the construction sector in Guadeloupe, was summoned by Gendarmes midweek and then placed in custody.
At the end of his first hearing, he was presented to an investigating judge who indicted him for the alleged embezzlement. Part of his real estate holdings was confiscated during the investigation, to allow for further investigations into these suspicious financial movements.
Meanwhile, Jacques Gaddharkan has been released but has been placed under judicial control.
The website reminded its readers that Jacques Gaddharkan is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Mr. Gaddharkan is well known in Dominica as the operator of a quarrying company in this country for many years.

It’s a daunting task just trying to keep your head above water in Dominica. The daily hardships, government ineptness, political tribalism is suffocating. A miniscule few get the most and bet resources of the State while the overwhelming masses are forced to beg on hands and knees. The country is disintegrating. Only honesty, consultation, hard work and visionary leadership can stitch it together again.

So far all I can say is I agree with PM Skerrit that his friends are not the friends of Mr. Linton and no doubt Mr. Gaddharkan, the alleged embezzler, is not and was not a friend of Mr. Linton and as a result, Mr. Linton can go to bed stress free knowing that his name cannot be mentioned in Gaddharkan’s thing. DNO didn’t mention Gaddharkan’s friends in Dominica but hope he was not a friend of PM Skerrit so PM could enjoy a sweet sleep with Mello on his side.
Of course there will be efforts by the opposition to link or involve the Skeritt administration but let us not forget that Gardakan has been in Dominica since the time of Edison and there were reports of some fishy dealings.

Bon Dou, isn’t that the same Gaddarkhan company that signed a contract for E.C.$. 31.27 million with our government for the rehabilitation of Melville Hall airport in 2016 following the devastation by tropical storm Erica in August 2015, and an additional contract for the supervision of these works with local enterprise La Robe Creole Ltd. for supervision of these works.? I just hope everything was kosher in that deal as I don’t want to see Dominica being involved in any monkey business and that we can show a clean pair of hands.
