In the wake of the sudden and somber news surrounding the passing of Emmanuel Frederick Joseph, affectionately known as “Juiceman”, many are finding solace in celebrating the legacy of a man who brought not only tasty local juice beverages but also an unparalleled spirit of resilience to the forefront.
Known for crafting tantalizing local juices that became a hallmark of his establishment, Juiceman’s impact extended far beyond the flavor profiles he expertly curated. His passing was confirmed by close friend Joshua Francis, who shared the heartbreaking details surrounding Juiceman’s final moments.
He revealed that while making one of his signature juices for a customer this morning, December 29, 2023, the senior collapsed, prompting a rush to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead, leaving friends, family, and the community in shock. Francis expressed that although Juiceman faced some health challenges, the suddenness of his departure took everyone by surprise.
Joseph, who was a well-known advocate for a healthy lifestyle journey, began in the 90s when he started selling his drinks at the old market. Over the years, he transformed his residence in Potterville into the renowned “Juice Man Cafe & Night Club”, becoming a hub for individuals seeking locally crafted juices and smoothies.
The resilience that defined Juiceman’s character was put to the test on the evening of June 24, 2019, when a devastating fire engulfed his business and dwelling. Twenty years of investment and a lifetime of personal belongings turned to ashes. In the aftermath, Juiceman found himself with nothing but the clothes on his back. Despite the
challenges, he received some support from a foreigner and friends, allowing him to start the rebuilding process.
In a previous interview with Dominica News Online (DNO) two years after the fire, Juiceman revealed that the cost of reconstruction was estimated at EC$150,000, a significant sum for a small business owner. Undeterred, he downscaled his operations to a makeshift corner, continuing to serve his popular local drinks and smoothies. The setback did not dampen his spirits, and with time, he managed to rebuild his establishment, a testament to his unwavering determination.
According to Francis and many others who have since flooded the airwaves and social media to express their condolences, The Juiceman’s legacy extends beyond his business endeavors. He played a vital role in fostering a sense of community, promoting health and wellness, even in the face of personal challenges. His positive impact on Pottersville will be remembered as friends, family, and patrons come together to celebrate his life.
I visited Dominica for just 2 days and was fortunate to run into him on Sat 23 and we exchanged the usual pleasantries as I have been a regular customer on my visits to Dominica. I am in absolute shock that he transitioned within less than a week of seeing him. I will miss his delicious juices, welcoming smile and good conversation. Rest in peace and rise in glory.
Dominica is one sad little country.
Everything must have a political spin.

So it seems like the juice man did more for his community than most pal reps do theirs. (“Resilience” a word loosely thrown around by the DLP) Based on his “resilience” and contribution to the Roseau community he deserves a State Funeral; whatever this signifies.
Squeeze it, Official Funeral is not for everybody and not for you as well. Take a hike, brother. Do you know what an Official Funeral means?
I will surely miss your touch on the nutritious all natural local fruit smoothies brother!
