Kréyol Basketball Championship

The Dominica Amateur Basketball Amateur Basketball Association has partnered with Caraïbes Sport & Développement Durable a non-profit organization based in Guadeloupe to bring to the region the Kréyol Basketball Championship.

The main objectives of the Kréyol Basketball Championship are to build and promote borderless Caribbean cooperation through sport for the benefit of all working generations from 7 to 77 years old, merging tourism, sport, the youth, education and culture in the Caribbean islands and internationally with the diversity and richness of Caribbean diasporas around the world and to reveal and enhance the identity of “Nasyon Kréyol” (“Creole Nation”) through sport and culture.

This will be an annual championship which will have four rounds of games. The final round of games will be hosted in Dominica annually in August. This is a sports tourism driven tournament to assist in developing the National Senior Basketball team and promote Dominica as a destination for Sports Tourism.

Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) announced a 46-athlete player pool for training for the 2024 Dominica Basketball Men’s National Team. The players were selected by the DABA Executive. The 12-member 2024 Dominica Men’s National Team, which will represent Dominica at the 2024 Kréyol Basketball Championship which will be held in Guadeloupe and Dominica will be announced at a later date.

The Dominica Basketball Men’s National Team will see a mixture of youth and senior players.  This will be the start of a long-term plan to develop the National Basketball Team Program.
