Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie has reported that police have been engaged in a series of operations that resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs, and four individuals being arrested.
According to Valerie, on Wednesday April 3, 2024, 696.82 kilograms or 1,533 pounds of cocaine were seized at Cabana Marigot from a vessel named La-mere Fatal which was beached on the Cabana Beach in Marigot, after being pursued by the Dominica Coast Guard.
Valerie said the occupants of the vessel fled, leaving the contents of the vessel behind.
“The cocaine [was] recovered and the vessel was seized and is in police custody,” Valerie revealed. “The street value of the cocaine seized is EC eighteen million, six hundred and sixteen thousand, eight hundred and seventy dollars and twenty-five cents (EC$18,616,870.25).”
He revealed that four men have been arrested concerning that seizure.
Meanwhile, Valerie further reported that on Friday, April 12, 2024, another 696.36 kilograms or 1,532 pounds of cocaine and 37 pounds of cannabis were found and seized on a farm holding in the Castle Bruce area.
“The street value for the cocaine is EC18 million, eight hundred and one thousand, seven hundred and twenty dollars (EC$18,801,720.00),” he revealed. “The street value for the cannabis is EC$74,000.”
Valerie further revealed that one man was arrested and charged and is currently on remand at the state prison.
He went on to say that the seizure of these illegal drugs signifies the determination and committed effort by the police to prevent drug traffickers from using Dominica to conduct their illegal trade.
“The police force will intensify its efforts at pursuing the traffickers to ensure that they are denied any opportunity to traffic illegal drugs in Dominica and we will ensure that they are caught and brought to justice,” Valerie remarked.
He thanked the officers who were involved for their hard work, effort and commitment to duty.
“We are pleased with their efforts,” he said.
Yes Bwa,Karma is a [email protected] one who was arrested in Castle Bruce is from your village,Morne Georgine in Mahaut. He is a Mahaut RORO like you.The others names have not been released because they have not been charged and arrested, ask ole police. The charge come first then the arrest, you must tell the accused the offence for which he is being arrested then caution ask ole police. In the case of the 7 Americans they were detained, not arrested,as the blue ignorant acolytes headed by Ugly Lenny want to tell smart Dominicans.
If I stole a loaf of bread at Astaphan’s my name and address and photo would be on DNO. Plus, stolkfarm would be my next temporary home. So it’s best to go big in corrupt business where there’s no charge or prison time for washing millions and billions. This is Dominica, my friend.
What’s on my mind is how do they know the going rate of cocaine and if the price changes who informs them?
Hats off to the police on this huge seizure !! This amount is now away from citizens especially our youth and vulnerable children. I did observe, though, that the smaller quantity ( 1532 pounds ) was valued higher than the greater quantity ( 1533 pounds). Issue of quality ? Nonetheless, these seizures were made some time ago, yet we are yet to know the names of those arrested.
Again, job well done. We await the speedy conviction of those arrested.
Ay-Ay…C/Bruce well come out papa! I wonder if the accused is from that village because that village have a few ganja pushers but that kind of parchay cocaine does not sound like C/Bruce people to me. Yes, the young boys there have become lazy and spend their time in See-quee begging passers by and smoking a likkle powder with their legal ganja, but they don’t have that kind of money or resource to move so much fooing powder.
Well, the one in Marigot, let’s check a few Wesley truck and equipment owners working the airport project with connections with the politicians and the legal fraternity people . When no one can criticize Dee when she peepeeing her entire circle starts feeling invincible. Karma is a beach party!
Kuddos to the CDPF on jobs well done! Pursue them in every nook and cranny of this blessed land. As Supt. Alpee would always say; ” To keep this country safe criminals have to be constantly chastized”.
Finally Mr. Valarie gets a very well deserved feather in his cap. However, just like the gun was handed back to the Golden Crabs catcher in the north a few years ago by a serving commissioner, it would be considered one word, “utter rubbish ” to hand the drugs back to the rightful owners on suddenly have it disappear because of their connections.
CONGRATULATION to Mr.Valarie and the entire police force.I am beginning to bring back respect to the police.Good job. That is what happens when a political party tell people do not go to work stay home and do nothing. The nothingers turn to drugs.
You started well and ended up like a damn cunoomoonou from the labassee! Yes, kuddos to the Chief and his officers but where did the rest of the BS came from? SMMFH!
You are an idiot.
Most drug people are already very wealthy people. Its just the little peddlers that are struggling.
Are you Lin Clown? Use your brain, if you have one.
@Lin Clown
When youv have nothing to say, if only you had a brain, i’m sure you would tell you to stay quiet.
No wonder you are such a CLOWN.
Lin Clown!
Your efforts are very much appreciated, sir. Much respects to you and your team. Keep up the fight!
So if in the Cabana seizure the street value is EC$18, 616,870.25 and Castle Bruce seizure has a street value of EC$18,801,720.00) so combined that’s a total street value of
$37, 418,590.25. No wonder we have top ranking people building mansions all over? I have always believed that some dirty money apart from the CBI money is involved too
Now that happened since April 3, they arrested four I guess adults since children were not involved, so why they can’t release the names of those arrested? It seems to me that both Valarie and those drug traffickers are working for the same boss and they just put on a show to deceive the people
And when the matters are heard at the high court, the men will be fined and set free. Just the cost of doing business.
To be honest I am shocked they made such a large seizure in Castle Bruce.
The story failed to mention whether the people who were apprehended from the vessel were Dominican or foreigners.
