Layou Park road washed away

Layou river
Layou river swollen by heavy rain

Heavy rain in the heights of Layou has caused damage to the road leading to the Layou Park area.

DNO can confirm that the Layou river which swelled as a result of Tuesday’s down pour, washed away sections of the road, making it impassable.

This area needs to be evacuated & quarantined. There have been too many natural disasters in Layou, yet people still reside there. Are they not concernedd about their safety & well being?

Easier said than done, partner! by the way, your quarantined comment is insulting to these people. You have no knowledge of Layou People’s history, fight for human rights, their struggles and the passion they have for their community. You just don’t know what you’re saying, that’s all!

They blame the goverment for everything so it’s possible they will blame it for the rain also.

Tropical countries will always experience such disasters. Do not be surprised that such also occurs in big countries where basements of houses are flooded due to heavy rain and snow when the latter melts, when street pipes burst and there is a sewer leakage. Roads are also flooded, erode or washed away due to this. Also during a storm trees fall on houses and vehicles and damage them.
We have our fair share of disasters of every sort in Canada, during the four seasons, spring, summer, fall – autumn and winter. No one can get away from that. Hopefully, there are no loss of lives and injuries; sometimes there are. When it rains also with heavy winds, lightning strikes and thunder peals, this could also result in a power outage from also electric lines that are affected throughout the city or in certain parts of the city which could last for hours or days while Hydro repairs the lines. This is a way of life. We just have to pick up the pieces and repair and replace whatever is destroyed. Those who are not affected are fortunate.
Unless it happens to be government negligence which hardly ever happens, we do not blame the government or bring the PM or other politician names into it. We know better. Broadmindedness and common sense helps.
If the government is at fault/responsible as when street pipes burst and the sewers overflow, the damage and loss are assessed and those affected will be financially compensated.
As beautiful as the Layou River is, it could be dangerous and when it overflows its banks.
I do think nothing can be done about preventing this overflow and roads being washed away unless the roads are built far away from the river. This may not be a possibility. New roads will have to be constructed. I reiterate, this is a way of life. Life must go on.
Let us pray and hope that homes and property are not affected for this will be a great loss. We must pray to God for protection also from disasters and during disasters and leave the rest to him. He has the whole world in his hands. Faith, trust and hope in God are necessary.
This is as much consolation and encouragement I can give to especially those who lament about the Layou River overflow and destruction of the road.

I don’t understand how your point relates to this article. Or is it my comprehensive skills are disintegrating? The problem in this situation is the poor engineering work that was done to the said area.

Ask God for it is a natural disaster. I am being nice to you to respond in that fashion. Should you not know better than to ask such a question? Or could you not have commented differently? Do nationals blame governments for natural disasters and rain falling from Heaven?
