Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, Lennox Linton is calling on all able bodied Dominicans to assemble in a national meeting on the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard in Roseau on Thursday, to make a statement of their disgust and disapproval of the December 6th general election.
He made the statement while speaking on Q-95 radio recently.
The meeting is being organized by the Coalition for ‘No Reform, No Election’, one day before nomination day.
“We are asking the people of Dominica to assemble in a national meeting,” Linton said. “A national meeting means the entire nation of Dominica is coming together on Thursday afternoon from 3:00PM in the City of Roseau.”
According to the opposition leader, it is important that this happens in the capital of the country and this is where the people of Dominica must make a statement of their “disgust, their disapproval of elections and to register the fact that they are standing down from this election.”
He said they will not participate in it and they are not encouraging anybody to nominate themselves to contest the elections.
Meanwhile, Linton is calling for the participation of public and private sector workers in the activity.
“We are calling on the public sector workers, we are calling on the private sector workers, we are calling on the leadership of the private sector workers to allow their people, the sons and daughters of Dominica to stay away from their jobs on that day,” he stated. “Shut the country down as a show of disgust for the outrageous actions of a prime minister who believes he owns and controls the country and can do what he wants with us.”
He added, “It is not acceptable, it is not right…”
Linton also urged the leadership of the churches to encourage their following to stay away from work and assemble in the national meeting.
“This is Roosevelt Skerrit putting himself up against Dominica and challenging Dominica for ownership of Dominica and control,” he stressed. “He has done enough in that regard already. It is time to turn back, it is time to push back, [and] it is time to rescue our country…”
Why 3 pm ?The overthrow of the DLP government started before 8 am on May 29 1979.As far as I know Dominica is still open for normal business.JOKERS
Linton is fighting for his $5,000 monthly salary plus allowances
which is due to expire at the end of November 2022.According to the constitution when the house is desolved the position of opposition leader is Noll and void.Stay away from work, who in their right mind is going to follow a loser?
Why don’t Linton shut up. He left his people and forsook them. Sir please shut urp…take a back seat let those with authority talk. You divorced them. Do yourself a favor Paix. Be quiet. FEMME LA BOUCHE. KAYATAY LABOUKA.
You are already no more the Leader of the Opposition party, what are you still fighting for? It is not illegal to call a snap election. You are either ready and prepared or not ready and unprepared. Take a hike, Ugly Lenny.
I would love too however, I do not want to lose my job. Sorry
There we go! However said Dominicas elections are fair?
What a disgusting CM.
Mmm. Do the organizers think the whole of Dominica will fit on the Bay Front or do they expect little show of support? A ‘freedom vigil’ in the Botanic Gardens would be better. Use the Umbrella Movement as a model and have a symbol like the umbrella to represent the sentiment because this must endure long after Skerrit has won his landslide. Opposition mustbe better organised and take a long view. Skerrit is exploiting your continued disorganisation and knee-jerk reaction. An opposition movement must be far better organised if it wants to bring the situation to the attention of the world.
Ugly Lenny, it is your fault that your comedy party, is in such a MESS because of your lack of imagination and greedy for money and bad attitudes ugly Lenny, I will tell you again you are weak, that is why you’re an empty drum making the most senseless noises, Lenny, old man you’re a big time I***t go away into the wilderness and do not return.
DNO, why wouldn’t you have some respect and address The Honorable Lennox Linton as ‘Honorable Lennox Linton’. I have made the observation that your articles on many occasions fail to address him applicable to his office. Be reminded that he is a duly elected member of parliament.
Look jokes on DNO, the real truth is zorts pa paway, et zorts pakay paway JAMAY. Don’t try to fool us with PAWOL PLAT and PATCHY COCO TALK. If we man and we have BALLS, show it. Get a candidate in each Con to REPRESENT YOUR PARTY. Thats why we must LEARN to MIND our ZAFER and leave people ZAFER ALONE. ADIEU FOULAR, ADIEU MADRAS ET ADIEU UWP.
