[PRESS RELEASE] Little Gem Preparatory celebrates International Women’s Day

The Little Gem Preparatory celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme “Appreciating our women as the fabric of the family unit”

The PTA Executive surprised the Principal, Mrs .Maydinia Defoe and her amazing staff with a special  tribute .

The Little Gem students were also given the opportunity to be part of the great celebration of our phenomenal women . The PTA Executive designed beautiful purple bows for the angelic princesses and purple bow ties for the handsome princes as a pledge of their tremendous support.

The principal and her staff and the parent body were pinned with their purple rosettes and were given roses as an expression of appreciation .

The Executive President  of the school’s Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Ms.Yvette Charles, stated that the fact that the PTA comprises mainly of women was  very fitting. She said this demonstrated that the devoted women on  the PTA are working harmoniously towards the overall growth and development of the Little Gem Preparatory.

“Most importantly we wanted  to exemplify our Vision Statement, we intend to creatively harness each child true potential and capability by strengthening the relationship between parents and teachers,” she stated. “I can confidently say that as parents, especially women, we have a responsibility in ensuring that we raise A plus individuals.”

She added that the PTA plays a significant role in the school and this is what that fuelled her passion to show gratitude to the teachers and parent body .

“Charity begins at home…we want to use this to inspire other schools to follow the trend, which will create a lasting impact,” Mrs Defoe declared.

The  PTA Executive President presented the Principal, Mrs Maydinia Defoe with a cash contribution which will go towards the upcoming graduation.

Ms Michelle Marshall ,Director of Fundraising presented a Food Basket to the Principal  which will assist the School’s Feeding Program.

Ms Franciane Bernard ,First Year Parent Representative presented a school supply gift basket to  Class Teacher Mrs.Cheryl John.

Ms. Aaliyah Anthony Second Year Parent Representative presented a school supply gift basket to Class Teacher, Ms Sheryl Stoute.

Mrs .Theresa Dejean ,Third Year Parent Representative presented a school supply gift basket to Class Teacher, Ms Samine Darroux.

Ms.Tana Valmond , Visual and Creative Arts Director presented an Arts and Craft gift basket to Little Gem Preparatory Head Boy ,Quan Tarvernier.

The Little Gem Preparatory Head Girl, Faith Rodney  presented her fellow student Raymon Thomas with a snack gift basket, sponsored by Khamari and family.

Mr Danis Bastien,Haitian Parent Representative, presented each class teacher with educational charts for their respective classrooms.He said that it was very important especially as the Haitian students struggle with the language barrier.

Mr .Burt Jno .Baptiste climaxed the presentation with the presentation of vegetable seeds to the school .The Little Gem Preparatory is currently on the theme plants so it will come in very handy.

The Teacher Representative, Mrs Samine Darroux, expressed her profound gratitude and appreciation to the PTA Executive for once again going above their call of duty in executing such a grand gesture .

    One gets the impression that this school does not cater for poor people children.
    Be careful children do not grow up with a superiority complex or sense of entitlement.
