Man wounded in drive-by shooting at Loubiere

drive_by_shootingA drive-by shooting in Loubiere on Friday night has resulted in one man being admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police Chief, Daniel Carbon, told Dominica News Online that he received information shortly after midnight, that McPherson Jno.Baptise of Loubiere, who had been standing in the vicinity of the public convenience in the village, was shot at from a passing motor vehicle.

Carbon said the information he received indicates that Jno. Baptise received a bullet wound to the hip.

He said police are carrying out investigations into the incident.

DNO will follow this story and bring more information as it becomes available.

It’s not about Grand Bay, Loubierre or Portsmouth, it’s about Dominica! United we stand devided we fall! You guys are doing just what the system wants you to do. Fight against each other. We can all make a difference if we start working together for the betterment of Dominica. Do we want to be known as proud “Dominicans” or “Dummy Nicans”.

Check all those private yachts and containers coming in. That’s where the guns are coming from. Don’t think that these wonderful tourists are all innocent. Marine Unit check all those little coves late at night. You’ll find them.

I remember when i was going up we had no fans and we would leave our bedroom windows open so the cool fresh breeze could flow in freely ,we could out out in the yard and play games under the moonlight , Go down to Donkey Beach on dates. Now you can’t even stand by the road side, oh go out in your yard with no fear, oh lord. well the Government have to go to Parliament and get new strict laws to protect the people of this country who still want to enjoy it and punish those with no regards for human lives.

Drive by shooting in Dominica? What? I suppose watching too much TV, Internet, Video, hearing and reading about what is transpiring in those other big countries?
Would the perpetrator be a criminal who was deported from another country?
Why would this criminal do such a thing? Would the victim be involved in criminal activities?
Pay attention government, judges/magistrates, prosecutors including DPP and police officers. You are to do your utmost to assist and protect Dominicans.
Something must be done about those wicked people and the guns which found their way to Dominica.
I am reiterating as I have done in the past. Dominica does not have a gun shop. Where did those guns come from and how were they allowed in Dominica? No leniency for those who are caught. Let the punishment fit the crime. May this not be mere words.

Guns are brought in simply because there is a market for them.

Don’t start putting cameras around on them posts… keep waiting on the public eye to say something. With all these crimes, drastic measures need to be taken and where the law doesn’t permit certain things, it should be amended once the amendment is for the betterment and protection of our citizens!

Its a crime yes and society will always see it like that, but if you all really look close in terms of crime rate we are nothing close to Antigua, St Kitts St Lucia and many more, Dominica is quiet compare to those other Caribbean islands in respect of crime, i know that for a fact, so relatively Dominicans a well behaved people if we have to compare to the other Caribbean islands.

Heaven help us all, the law authorities in Dominica need to take all these shooting, drive by shooting, stabbing etc very serious

What do we expect when the tugs out there knows that those in high authority are manipulating the court system and nothing is being done

Dive by shooting this is serious, soon people will not be able to walk the streets of Dominica enjoying the moon and stars, even so enjoying a full moon night out, this is sad

What do we expect when we have seasoned criminals/murderers committing murders, stabbing people, threatening people and walking the streets, some having the trials drop, some having juries finding them not guilty etc, Dominica is too much as small island for all this crimes, only God knows what will happen when the hardened criminals awaiting deportation arrive in Dominica and the other Caribbean islands

A country with no justice will never be a peaceful country. Skerrit you and the justice minister need to work on reimplementing the dead penalty in Dominica, until then the criminals will continue beating the law system, soon of them walking the streets threatening people saying that the law cannot do nothing with them, what a shame

Drive by shooting oh boy. What do we expect when criminals/ murderers are walking the streets free charges drop, jury find some not guilty,as we all know, where there is no justice there is no peace

People in high ranking positions committing crimes and nothing is being done, many on them manipulating the justice system etc.

Too many guns on the streets of Dominica in the hands of criminals and heartless people

Lord help us all, sooner or later people will not be able to walk the streets of Dominica any more, even so enjoy a moonlight evening, this is so sad, Heaven help us all
