Marigot man charged with arson

arsonNewvrey Doram, aged 27, of Marigot, has been charged with arson of the dwelling house of Mile Plendeleith of Melville on May 23, 2014.

According to Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon,  Doram appeared before a Portsmouth Magistrate on May 26, 2014 where he was remanded in custody and is to return in one week for bail review.

Police say that  in the early hours of Friday May 23, 2014, when the incident occurred, the occupant of the house, Shan Andrew, was alone when two individuals armed with cutlasses entered.

They tied and beat Andrew, then spread a flammable liquid in the house and set it on fire.

Andrew managed to escape from the men and was later treated for his injuries at the Wesley Health Center.

Meanwhile Carbon says another man is now being sought in connection with the arson.

Let us all join hands together and pray for our country, cause this is not the kind of news we want to stay over seas and hear, some of us are here promoting Dominica as a vacation destination but news like this don’t fits in good with all our efforts.

He was charged with only arson? Did he inform the police he did not beat the man and tie him and they believed him? The man could have died in the house-filled fire.
Both of them went to the house. Both knew their plans. How could it be, being charged with only arson? Who will be charged for also assault and attempted murder?

I cant believe these police officers. Why aren’t they charge for assault and attempted murder. They should be denied bail and should be punish to the full extent of the law. The judge should make an example of them. No human being deserves to be treated in this way.

I really believe in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. When these criminals/animals act like that, they should get the same punishment. They burn some one they should be burnt too. They rape, they should be raped, they kill, they should be killed. They are ruthless, reckless, useless, lawless and don’t give a hoots about a human being. So why waste tax payers money and lawyers wasting their time to represent these pre meditated crimes. Lock them up and torture them every day. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

A man like that should not be granted bail. If he is granted bail there should be stringent conditions as also house arrest.
Keep in mind he almost killed that man. He and his accomplice did worst than a murderer. This is not to say murder is not an atrocious crime but what they did, they tied him and beat him and spread a flammable liquid to burn the man and the house. If he did not escape he would have been burnt to a cinder and of course died. This man should be thankful to God that He spared his life. I hope he is recovering. This was and still is traumatic for him. He should be given a psychiatric examination.
Consider the crimes those two committed. The primary one is trespassing and possessing harmful material with intent to murder the man by burning him in the house . This is the height of wickedness. Their wicked acts were premeditated.
They have depicted that they have no respect for people and do not treasure human life; not even their own. They also deprived the man of his human right, dignity and freedom by also taking charge of him and tying him. They treated him worst than an animal.
He is fortunate I am not the judge/magistrate. He would stay in prison and rot there until he died or Judgment Day. Then, God will deal with him for all eternity where he will be keeping Satan and his other fallen ones company, as Satan taunts them all day and night (in fact there is no day and night in eternity) for being foolish and for their faithlessness.
The only thing I could do for such people is to pray that God converts them. If they do not convert and ask God forgiveness, make penance and sacrifice, we Christians know where they will end up forever. It is then left up to them, the path they wish to take for the rest of their life and for all eternity.
Let us see what punishment he will receive from the Dominica Court of Law.

But DNO what is wrong with you nou? These days you have these brilliant headlines out and you not publishing too many comments? Are you under threat? Or, is it that you do not want a law suite? That’s a subject I believe would have generated a lot of comments but for one reason or the other you have not published anything. However, let me commend the police for charging someone with arson just days after the crime was committed. That now leads me to the wonder what is happening to the GON Emanuel case? It’s about 4 years now and I wonder what is happening
