Lahanson Javeed Pascal has pleaded guilty to the 2013 murder of his grandmother in Marigot.
Flora Pascal, 82, was found by her son in an unconscious state and bleeding from wounds to her head, at her home around 2:00 pm on April 7, 2013.
She was taken to Marigot Hospital where she was treated and then transferred to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Lahanson Javeed Pascal then aged 17, was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.
However, the charge was changed to murder after Flora Pascal died on April 22, 2013 at the ICU of the PMH.
Sentencing is set for June 14, 2019 after a social inquiry report.
Another MONTH to compile a “social inquiry report”? This could have been done from the commencement of the High Court sitting on this matter. The social inquiry report has no directive from a verdict; guilty or not. This whole Colonial/Westminister System of justice we follow is cruel on both side of the ‘Judicial Scale’.
Do away with the PI, introduce Paper Committal or Sufficiency Hearing

The children of today is nothing easy enuh. Alot of them wan be playing rude rude rude and they cannot even well support themselves without the help of someone like mother or father.
Now if you ask me, this is a failed judicial system. Why should it take 6 years to call a murder case? We need to do better. How many years it is now and a parliamntarian’s case for inappropriate behavior with a minor is under judicial review? I guess the power thing must be working…
As these video games influence our youths mind more and more, the youths’ level of civility and compassion for others will continue to rapidly erode, and it matters not if the person is a stranger or relative. A youth in one of those big country to the North killed his grandmother because she made him come in the house at 9:00 p.m. Keep in mind that he was only 9 years old. He wanted to stay outside longer and roller skate. Another youth in that same country burn down the condo, killing his grandmother for also asking him to come inside, for a different reason; and another killed both parents for taking away her cell phone. And even more horrible, if that is possible, another youth was told by his parents that he could not have a party at the house, so he killed them and left the bodies upstairs while he invited friends over and had the party down stairs.
you really out here blaming video games???? I’ve been playing video games all my young life and never once has it crossed my mind to do any of those things you speak off, being the smart person you seem to be should make you realize that many factors can come into play not just “video games” don’t just follow the trend of saying video games are bad.
I know that young man personally and not excusing his actions at all but there are some deep rooted issues and I hope he can also get the help he needs while paying for his crime…but do we even have such resources available?.. what is the objective of jail time?? Should they come out the same person? Is this just an extended vacation?
I totally agree with you. Not making any excuses for this young man but this guy needed help for years even before this incident. I am friend of the family and is mother has abandoned him for years and went away, look his father is also gone, his uncle dont know he exist and now his other grand mother cant barely look after her self. What will happen to him when he is in prison because he is young and has no family support. How will he be if he comes out? Once again i am not condoning his actions but this young man was crying for help at a very young age and hardly got the help he needed.

So, so sad, every time I read a case like that. But for Heaven’s sake Why it take over six years to get a verdict and sentence? Dont tell me that young man was incarcerated all that time too.

This murder is particularly shockingly awful. What sort of threat does an eighty-two year lady posed to this young man? Could not be much, if any. May this demonic act haunt him for the rest of his life.
