LIME launches iPhone 4s

LIME’s Donald Tavernier (right) explains some of the features of the new phone to Robert Tonge of First Domestic, one of the first customers.

LIME officially launched the iPhone 4s in Dominica and all its markets last week.

The new device is described as “an intelligent assistant which sends text messages by voice command, lifelike photographs and video footage that’s editable on the phone.”

Following its first-to-market introduction of the iPhone 4, last summer, the full-service telco provider is continuing its exclusive Apple deal with introduction of the most amazing iPhone yet.

Highlighting the benefits of this phone to its customers, CEO, David Shaw says the iPhone 4S will again change the way people communicate.

“This is another first from LIME.  Bringing world class technology is our way of building communities and families in the Caribbean.  The iPhone 4S is best in class, innovative and the ultimate ‘every-thing device’ that will change the way we access and share information.  It shows what advanced technology looks and feels like and that’s what our customers expect of us.  We’re very proud to partner with Apple to make this happen for the Caribbean,” he said.

Packed with incredible new features, including Apple’s dual-core A5 chip for blazing fast performance and stunning graphics, the iPhone 4S will available in three models – the 16GB, the 32GB and the 64GB.

Other features of this masterful device include an all new camera with advanced optics and full 1080p HD resolution video recording; iPhone 4S comes with iOS 5, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features; and iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that work with your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices.

The LIME markets include: Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

just for clarification .. no network is using 4G … they claim to be .. but they arent … at leats not on a large scale .. and none of these companies sell the iphone (in the u.s )… the iphone is a great investment but for some reason there is no mention of siri in this article… does this mean that dominicans are not able to use siri on their device ?

My advice to the average Dominican is to avoid getting caught up in the conspicuous consumption mad race. You don’t have to have every latest piece of technology to live a happy and fulfilled life. Think smart, live smart.

When comes to electronics the US is always a step or so behind. Apple always pretend to be the first at this and that, but when u look at foreign companies like Samsung, HTC and even Nokia (btw Nokia sued Apple for copy rights infringements a few yrs ago), their phones been had these technologies Apple and Motorola going gaga over right now. One day iPhone will get to 1.5 GHz like Samsung Epic and HTC Amaze and they will claim to be the fastest. lol

    • z....
      January 17, 2012

Why are hating on Apple? Its a brand which has done beyond an excellent job in marketing and designing its products. These things appeal to customers. Did Nokia win the Copyright infringements? Do you know a company can only keep rights to a product in the states for a period of time until they must allow others to design similar products for competition sake. Don’t hate on Apple because they’ve done a fine job getting their stuff into people’s hands. I think it goes deeper for you because you can’t afford it and trying to find away to bring the product down. The iphone is ten times better than any HTC, Nokia samsung product. Infact I can go on to say that the proof of this is the consumers flocking to get it. It works great, it looks great and hey if i take care of my apple products I don’t have to worry about replacing it for another 10 years compared to all these other companies crappy products.

        January 18, 2012

Yes Z it is all about marketing marketing marketing. And yes Nokia did win that court judgement last year. And hell NO is the iPhone 10x better than some of the HTCs and Sumsungs out there. And I mentioned nothing about price , cause there are some HTCs, Samsungs and even Nokias out there that are the same price as the iPhones or even more. So ur point?? Apple uses some of the same software as the other products out there, they just give them a catchy name…should I say SIRI?? Face Time?? Yeah please!! You just got marketed Z!!

      • z....
        January 18, 2012

Yep and this is why apple is selling besides the obvious appeal their products have. So maybe Samsung, Nokia blah blah should spend more time making their products just as appealing. In the mean time whilst they trying to figure out how to catch up Apple getting ready to close th gap even smaller. Exactly siri, face time etc are all part off what I mentioned earlier which is the competitors must be able to compete so even though Nokia have started something like face time, siri or whatever the law allows for Apple and anybody else to create competetive products just the same. So it really doesn’t matter who makes it first or not, its how you market using “catchy” names and exterior appeal!:) I don’t want no ugly ass nokia phone…….pleaaasssse.. Save your money and go by an iphone top the hate!

Folks be very careful! LIME can’t even support EDGE properly let alone a 4G phone! The internet is slower than a tortoise on an EDGE supported BlackBerry! Why would I pay so much for a phone when I’m gonna be calling them every two minutes about one problem or the other?! I’m already fed up with the BlackBerry as it is!

    • cat woman
      January 18, 2012

      its not a 4g phone!

    • Tourist
      January 18, 2012

You are absolutely right! My iPhone doesn’t work well in Dominica and the reason for this is LIME. This phone needs to run on 3G or 4G, none of which is supported by LIME. So, do not waste your money.

Lime must be charging an arm and a legg and all the hairs on your body for this one. And still when they are just deceiving people about the capability of a phone that will work in its full capacity in Dominica. There is alot that LIME is not telling us. But it is what they do best…deceive their customers!!!!

IF LIME THINK I GOIN TO GO IN THERE OFFICE AND BUY THAT PHONE .. COCK WILL GROW TEETH FIRST .. DOMINICA WILL GET SNOW .. I RATHER ORDER IT INSTEAD

    • True
      January 17, 2012

Lmao… ordering it will most likely come up to the same price sometimes even worst… trust me I have done it… and the cheapest is about 400.00 which in E.C is 1068.00, plus shipping and handling (according too) and tax…and customs…and sometimes that price $400.00 is for the used ones

C’mon journalist, the least you could have done in your article is indicate how much it is going to cost the average user.

    The article seems incomplete.

Anyways fellow Dominicans, it is your money, and no one has the right to dictate to you how to spend your hard earned money, but….

    I watchin’ still!

I don’t like to see people just jump on the technology train and quick to take dominicans money. The question people need to ask first is does LIME even have the infrastructure to handle such a powerful device? ‘EDGE’not going to cut it on this phone. I couldnt even view youtube videos on my BB when i came to visit and is 4s they want to get? I dotn advise any hard working dominican to buy that for dominica UNLESS they know for a fact that they have the proper infrastructure to make this phone fully functional at the level it was made to perform.
