
Local telecommunications company SAT Telecoms celebrated its 10th anniversary by launching new products to the public.
Chief Executive Officer of the company Marlon Alexander told the anniversary ceremony at the Fort Young Hotel last night that the company’s journey was not easy.
Alexander said that SAT has been transformed into a fully digital telecommunications provider as it will now offer digital television, internet and telephone services within the upcoming months.
“Analog systems will be no more and SAT will no longer be transmitting to you in analog,” Alexander proclaimed. “Every customer will be able to choose which package he desires and at what price that suits their budget.”
“SAT has no intentions of raising its prices. In fact, within the new packages, there will be a cheaper package, and their will be a more expensive package,” he announced.
Alexander said SAT’s new initiatives are in line with government’s mandate to provide universal service to all.
“In the first phase SAT customers will be able to speak to each other free of charge,” Alexander said about the company’s new land-line phone service.
Acting Prime Minister Kenneth Darroux, who addressed the ceremony, commended the company for its achievement, stating that this initiative goes along with the government’s goal to expand ICT in Dominica.

People, can’t you-all see that as part of those people (SAT’s) 10th Anniversary they Launched or ‘announced’ their coming new services? Why are some of you so quick to write them off?
True, LIME has better customer service… but customer service (in and of itself) doesn’t help my internet bill at the end of the month not one bit!
Despite the talk that SAT don’t ‘serve’ their workers well (sad) at the moment, I’m still proud of them because they are home grown. We are too quick to bring down the local business. Think of what it would be for us if they weren’t there at all.
If I’ve been patiently, faithfully paying LIME, month after month for their relatively expensive internet service I think I can wait 2 week more (if so) to learn what SAT’s prices and packages are.
I’ve waited too long for a day like this in DA.
people stop put blame on the customer service and try to look at the core of the matter and the higher authorities, when management do no pass on information to customer service and when only a few knows whats going on, how do you’ll expect them to give you’ll prices when you’ll call…blame management…not customer service, they are doing their best..Trust Me!!!
bad of a company to lunch a service without price…. thats y lime will kill us with prices but yet ppl will go to them because of better customer service and advertisement …..i want to move but other providers makes it hard to join them
What nonsense is that. Is SAT really serious about providing Internet. I have been calling the office all through the day for their prices, and up until now, nobody knows. Its just a varie they have. Stupes.

I was also excited about the sat services , and since it was said that with immediate effect we could have the sat internet, I called the office this morning to find out what are the prices of the internet and to my surprise the young man who answered the phone just said to me , we don’t know the prices yet, i was shocked , i waited for him to say something else he did not , so i asked when will the prices be available ? He said in about 2 weeks time , I could not believe that after reading on the news that they are launching and they did launch last night that none of the employees at sat know the price nor could give me any further details, the young man did not even me , well if u wanna sign up come to the office or nothing of that sort. Better customer service is needed …..

CONGRATU!AT!ONS! to SAT Telecoms. I’m one that has been loooong awaiting the day Internet Prices would come down to the level of the average Dominican. I always knew the prices we were paying LIME (for internet especially) were exorbitant. But what could we do? There were no alternatives and so we were like ‘beggars no choosers’. But today we have have a choice.. choices I think.. if I heard correctly. Imagine: internet + telephone + TV for <$100 a month? That's simply gr8!
LIME, we've got love for you, so we'll advise you: please offer us better rates (i.e. offer your internet service at more reasonable package prices) before you get left behind… like Marpin.

SAT ….Your customer service STINKS…!!!!!!!…..
Well after the bold announcement last night at the Fort Young Hotel…I went to the head office this afternoon to get information on how to sign up for SAT…Firstly no one acknowldged me with a greeting when i entered the building…after about five minutes i was ‘showed’ a seat next to a young gentleman who stil kept reading his book whilst talking to me…he could not answer my simple questions of…What services do you offer and how much?..when i asked him for leaflet or brochure of SAT’s new services, he then shows me an “application form”…by this time i was starting to “lose it”…i then asked him to send m to someone who can more ably to assist me… he points to his ‘supervisor”…who is on his cellphone…i stand up waiting…the supervisor is yet to achknowldge my presence…after 10 minutes a young lady walks up to me and tells me i can sit down by the supervisors desk..i said to her, he has not yet asked me to sit down…i finally sit down…he GETS UP turns his back to me…to talk to another staff member, whilst he is still on his cell phone…still has not acknowledged my presence…
I get up and walk away…
BYYYYYYEEEEE….SAT!!!!! And I hope someone in authority at SAT reads this…

@Anonymous: Not just 100 plus for internet but it’s 1mb download speed and you still don’t get that actual speed…

Thank you Marlon for your great achievement and contribution to the people of Dominica. By so doing, the people has a choice in deciding what they can really afford. Unlike with Marpin poor services were being pushed down their throats at high prices which they cannot afford. I will definitely be one of your customers, and i also know that many of Marpin’s customers will be jumping ship to your company. If you serve the people right, they will in-turn stick with you and your company. Gods speed and good luck.

At long last intense competition for Lime. Hope the services will be great for the cheap prices. I am tired of paying lime over a hundred dollars monthly just for internet services.
