Million dollar bridge to be constructed in Dublanc

Chris Walters of Caribbean Development Construction Limited with a Government representative

Road access will be made much easier for residents of Dublanc and its surroundings as government signed a contract in excess of $1 million for the construction of the Dublanc Bridge.

The government on Monday signed the contract with Caribbean Construction Development Limited.

“I am very happy to be here to celebrate with you the clear indication of the commencement of your bridge,” Prime Minister Skerrit said.

He said the government was delivering to the people of Dublanc one of the priority needs in their community.

“We understand how important it is for vehicular traffic between the two parts of the village and therefore based on what you have said to us through your parliamentary representative, you have declared this bridge to be priority number one in this village,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Skerrit, other priorities that his government plans to address include housing nd, “to ensure that we can continue to the facilities for the many fishermen and fisherfolk who rely on fishing for their livelihood.”

The bridge, which is being financed by the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Program is expected to be completed in the next 3 months.

The Prime Minister also disclosed that very soon, residents of Colihaut will see the commencement of certain sections of the retaining wall and will soon be speaking with the residents about the second phase of the river defense wall.

The name of the company is Caribbean Concrete Ltd. not Caribbean Construction Development Limited.

ADMIN: This is the information we received from the Ministry of Public Works.

No tender? CBI funds simply picks a contractor, usually Chris (CCL) who is red red and gives contracts.. How is it that CBI money is for the government to use as they see fit without following proper procurement procedures? Wouldn’t a local contractor from the area liked to have been given a chance to bid and win such a contract, instead of having to go beg the dictator for money to feed his family. Construction industry in this land is very sad right now, where jobs are given out as the red party chooses. 1 day the bottom ah go drop out, believe that

Skerrit is in deep trouble and recognises his failures, incompetence and obvious failure as Prime Minister. To this day our Dominica’ and its Suffering people those unemployment are in a state of getting nowhere. The focus on Skerrit is to remain in the Office of Prime “Odd” Minister. This is a pappyshow Political wedding with no rings of competence and maturity towards the Development of our people our families our farmers and our Dominica. It’s 2020 and the Government is functioning as if we are in the year 1975. After 20years, where are we today in 2021? DNO Admin: In the interest of the public can you put an insert under the photo. I know who the two individuals are, and who they both represent, but I’m sure some of your readers don’t. Thanks

ADMIN: Good point. A caption has been added to the photo.

Skerrit in trouble and he ‘signs’ contract after contract for new roads, bridges and houses. Absolutely typical Skerrit. A Scharlatan if I have ever seen one. He fools Dominicans on a daily basis. When will we tell him enough is enough?

ADMIN: We appreciate you pointing that out. The contract was awarded to Caribbean Construction Development Limited. That information has been updated in the article.

A proposed bridge at the cost of over one million dollars while workers are being sent home, small and medium size businesses are folding and the unemployment line extending. Beyond visibility.

While the economy is shrinking by the day more no bid government contracts are being dished out to foreign construction companies. Ask any political consultant or watchdog group, they will tell you that the no bid government contracts in the construction sector is where the biggest corruption deals take place

No stimulus for the laid off workers, the many in the service industry, the lowly paid public servants but construction work for the Chinese, MMCE and other foreign entities. It has to be that the vast majority of Dominicans ‘like it so’.

When they say Dominica cannot be a real place it just CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT be a real place… Anything goes in this place it baffles me. Chris AGAIN! he was given the contract for the coast guard jetty a few months ago.. is it because he from viellecase? why is he given all the BIG projects. Am pleased its not a foreign contractor but seeing he got the other project couldn’t someone else get this one. smh so much local contractors out of work.. the big bucks is for one set.. I wonder why. Am I the only young person who sees whats going on in this country.. What they spent so much money to do in Dublanc does it have to be demolished to facilitate the bridge? hmmmm

You are so right. However, I can’t elaborate because when I bring out facts, even without direct attacks and insults, DNO refuses to publish my comments. Though I see them publishing insults from other people. DNO things will never change in Dominica is there is hypocrisy and partiality. As long as people stick with your guidelines let all ideas contend.
