Monsignor Jno Lewis describes the late Dr. Alwin Bully as a “great man”

Delegate of the Apostolic Administrator, Monsignor William Jno Lewis, has described the late Cultural Icon, Dr. Alwin Anthony Bully as a “great man.”

His comments came during the funeral service of Dr. Bully held at the St. Gerald Cathedral Chapel in Roseau on Wednesday.

Dr. Bully was accorded an official funeral by the Government of Dominica for his tremendous contribution to culture, arts, and education.

“Alwin Bully was a great man,” Monsignor Jno Lewis said. “His achievements have been documented, talent recognized and applauded, and his legacy lives on.”

According to him, the glory belongs to God alone, however, humanly speaking people sometimes depict glory with recognition.

“In that case, it can be said that our brother attained certain glory, cultural icon, internationally acclaimed artist, producer, and the list goes on,” he stated.

Monsignor Jno Lewis continued, “And while some cling to their position, their power, their prestige, their possessions, titles, and honours as a mark of glory others look forward to sharing the glory of God.”

Furthermore, he said the late cultural icon knew God, he believed and his faith was tested.

“There were tragic moments in his life, but he kept the faith,” Monsignor Jno Lewis stated. “A faith that was evident, especially whenever I had the opportunity to visit, to pray with him and Anita and to give them Holy Communion.”

He revealed that in Dr. Bully’s last days of his illness, he knew the battle was won.

“He had the courage to fight and at the same time, there was a sense that he looked forward to resting in the Glory of God,” Monsignor Jno Lewis revealed.

Dr. Bully passed away on March 10 at the age of 74.

He was the designer of Dominica’s national flag and was bestowed the Sisserou Award of Honor, the island’s second-highest honor, for his work.

Dr. Bully was also a famed playwright, director, graphic artist, set designer, poet and short story writer, carnival designer, and composer.

You all help me with this one, so would you join or go church in a religion run strictly by effeminate ‘mens’ ? Is it required or a way around forcing grown men to be celibate?

Do you think being a leader is easy? Personally, I feel that he has done his G Switch job and responsibility very well.

As a member of the corruptible, fallable and quirky species called man, I have and always will refrain from calling any human great. Only the Most High has the sovereign right to make that bold declaration and is deserving of that designation.

That being said, I fully concur that Alwin Bully, fellow son of our God alloted beautiful patch of land called Dominica, was a giant and national treasure who parlayed his God endowed gifts and talents to accomplish extrordinary feats while reaching rarified heights.

The continuing, glowing tributes to this multi-talented renaissance man is well earned and highly deserved in light of his broad and impactful influence in his native land and beyond.

Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 1
