The Government of Dominica on Thursday, September 7, 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Common Earth and the Cloudburst Foundation for the establishment of the Common Earth Regenerative Development and Applied Scientific Research Institute in Dominica.
The overall aim of the Institute is to increase citizens’ economic potential in areas of innovative science related to the earth’s oceans, land, biodiversity and culture; and strengthen national resilience to climate change and severe climatic events.
The Institute will serve as a center for scientific research, development and innovation in areas consistent with Dominica’s National Resilience Development Strategy (NRDS) and its Climate and Resilience Recovery Plan (CRRP).
Common Earth is a UK-based charity whose purpose is to deliver regenerative development including the repair of ecosystems within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The organization assists Commonwealth member states to make their highly vulnerable communities sustainable and resilient to the impact of climate change.
The Cloudburst Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mandate from the Commonwealth Secretariat to implement the United Nation’s 2030 sustainable development agenda by supporting regenerative development within all 54 countries of the Commonwealth.
Common Earth will partner with the Israel-based University of Haifa and the Dominica State College (DSC) to deliver a new curriculum at the DSC with subjects related to the Marine and Ecological environments, including marine sciences, marine regulation and marine engineering. Classes in Marine Science and Maritime Engineering are projected to begin in January 2024 at the DSC in collaboration with the University of Haifa via distance learning.
The institute shall also work on research and development of aquaculture, mariculture, and blue technologies, specifically coral reef restoration and marine life research in Dominica.
Common Earth and the Cloudburst Foundation, working in conjunction with the Climate Resilience Execution Agency for Dominica (CREAD), hosted a workshop from September 4-7, 2023 at the Jungle Bay Resort and Spa comprising marine and environmental professors, scientists and engineers from the University of Haifa, Hebrew University, Weizmann Institute and Tel Aviv University.
Discussions for implementation of the MOU centered on Dominica’s mariculture and aquaculture potential; regenerative activities in the tourism, agriculture and maritime sectors; and fisheries protection and conservation.
good things Come to those who wait.
thé best is yet to come
look at that smiling child Roosevelt skerrit who have no scientific knowledge about what he don’t know, but neocolonialism mean that there must be infantilism in terms of our black race and leaders, as if we are children of a lesser god. they must always be given instructions, a paternalistic behavior coming from any little white kid that dream up some fart but with deep ulterior motives, what Roosevelt is instructed to sign will affect the entire Caribbean, no black man or child could so instruct our leaders as white people do. regardless of their academic capacity. but when you have civilian coupe of not wanting to let go power, you will do anything to look relevant been propped up in power. leave office you corrupt leaders and stop denigrate the black race. All the money stolen by our puppet dealers not leaders are in white banks making better lending rates for white countries economy. Leave!
all kind of Mou signing and nothing happening …fake greedy currupt government.. jail allu have to go
How much money is the illustrious PM going to get with this M O U to put in his bank in Florida?
You have two eyes, keep one open on all these NGOs (sleeper cells) collection info for their governments using free stuff to make you salivate.
Signing MOUs is what this Scharlatan does best. Problem never ever do we see these documents. All you remember the ‘MOU’ with China. Nobody ever saw this document, nor did he tell us what was in it. Now it slowly transpires that it wasn’t only an MOU but more worrying it was a bill of sale!
As a fake Accountant, have you ever had a course in MANAGEMENT BY INVESTMENTS?
evertime he reminds me of hudini….but….
I find it weird when you can’t even find a contact number for these organisations on their website and their instagram has 0 posts.
Anyway, looks like this is the project they are working on in Dominica: https://common.earth/projects-kalinago-people
Would have been good if this was mentioned in the article, I’m sure people would be interested to know. Perhaps DNO can provide an update on progress and eventually what is achieved as a result of this MOU. Sounds interesting!
Just remember that you also have local, fully trained experts in marine conservation management and coral restoration here in Dominica already.
oh, high n might one. you want to be climate resilient. BUILD BYPASS ROADS!
A tsunami evacuation route should not run along the coastal road. Something happens in Massacre or Mahaut, there’s no way round.
Soufriere gets cut off routinely. BYPASS ROADS.
While the UK continues to fill their moats, to build their drawbridges and reinforce the locks on their iron panties, Dominica continues to expose herself and open her legs wide for the taking
