
A twenty-one man national squad, accompanied by 11 staff from the Dominica Football Association (DFA), left the island today March 22, 2021, for the Dominican Republic to compete in two World Cup qualifiers.
The Dominica National Senior Men’s team which is the first group to represent the island in an international tournament since the outbreak of COVID-19, has been placed in Group D of the Concacaf Qualifiers alongside Panama, The Dominican Republic, Barbados, and Anguilla.
Dominica will kick off its Qualifying campaign on the 24th of March against the Dominican Republic, and then will play Panama on March 28th.
Speaking during a press conference where the team was announced on Saturday, president of the DFA, Glenn Ettiene noted that Dominica’s participation in the event provides the opportunity to make an impact among other contenders.
“This is the competition that has the potential to make a big break for Dominica and elevate our name on the stage of regional and international football,” he stated.
Etienne called on the Dominican populace to give support to the national team and the country on the days leading to the game.
“Let us seek to be positive in our remarks and help boost the confidence of our players and help them win the psychological aspect of the competition that has already begun,” he urged.
The full team which will be captained by goalkeeper Glenson Prince includes two overseas-based players, Triton Sandy and Darryl Longdon. The rest f the team comprises Briel Thomas, Kelrick Walters, Travist Joseph, Chad Bertrand, Julian Wade, Javid George, Sidney Lockhart, Raleighson Pascal, Donte Newton, Ajaya Royer, Fitz Jolly, Donan Jervier, Reon Cuffy, Audel Laville, Kassim Peltier, Malcolm Joseph, Erskim Williams and Euclid Bertrand.
The staff accompanying the National Team consist of Head Coach Rajesh Latchoo, Manager Heinrich Anselm, Assistant Coaches Ellington Sabin and Collin Bernard, Goalkeeper Coach Courtney Challenger, Equipment Manager Reginald Darroux, medics Enoch Lee and Glenda Fagan, team dctor Dr. Dylan Dyer, trainer Delroy Watt and Media officer Garvin Richards.

As a patriot, I wish nothing but success to our national squad. Being a realist; however, I know our fellas are facing a daunting task that will require a total herculean effort along with sustained mental and psychological toughness.
Any cable or television network that is carrying game? In this day and age Dominica should have its own videography crew filming the games stream live for citizens hame to see and archive for the records and review. I would like to watch.
