NDFD selects fifteen entries for Green Innovations Summit Idea Lab

A panel from the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) and its partners selected today, May 19th, the fifteen entries that qualified for the first stage of the selection process for the first Green Innovations Summit that will happen two weeks from today.

These fifteen entries were selected out of all the applications received by the NDFD over the course of many weeks. Persons who were interested in being part of the Green Innovations Summit submitted their applications either as 250-word essays or 3-minute videos which discussed the following questions: Who are you? What environmental area are you addressing? What is the problem? What is the innovative solution that you are proposing?

These fifteen applicants will proceed to the second stage of the selection process called the Idea Lab on June 1st where they will get the chance to polish their ideas after listening to a panel discussion from experts in the environmental areas whose problems they intend to tackle.  The one-day Idea Lab will also have a session where all of these aspiring Green entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to another group of judges whose task it will be to select the final ten participants to the formal three-day Green Innovations Summit.

The first Green Innovations Summit is part of the Green Program launched by the NDFD in March. It is an open competition and capacity-building event which is geared towards assisting aspiring Green entrepreneurs develop environment-friendly business ideas, learn the most important aspects of effectively running a business, and acquire the most effective techniques in pitching their business ideas to potential investors.

The Green Innovations Summit is slated to happen on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th, this year.  June 5th is also World Environment Day.

The first Green Innovations Summit is being organized by the NDFD, in partnership with Dominica Youth Business Trust and the National Youth Council of Dominica and is being supported by FLOW Dominica and Dominica News Online (DNO).
