President of the Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) Mervin Alexander has called on non-members of the association to join the DAT.
His call came during the DAT 17th Biennial Convention held at the Goodwill Parish Hall last week.
“I call on all teachers who are not yet part of the DAT, the time has come for you to get on board,” he urged. “We can only get what we want if we are a united force.”
According to him, the DAT represents all teachers, whether they are members or not.
“For the last year to couple of months, the DAT has represented more non-members than members,” he said. “Because more non-members came to us with issues than members.”
Mr. Alexander continued, “So we fight for all teachers in Dominica.”
Furthermore, he stated that the strength of the association to advocate for teachers and school educators is found in the unity of our members.
“Today, more than ever before there are challenges facing education and educators, so we have to stand up together and fight these challenges,” Mr. Alexander said.
