Towdah’s Kool Table which is located on Cork Street, Roseau, has officially opened its doors to the public.
The new business is owned by parent company, Towdah’s Exclusive, which was established in 2003 and which, according to Managing Director, Nabiner Joseph- George, also owns Towdah’s Boutique situated on Great Marlborough Street in Roseau.
Joseph-George told Dominica News Online during a ceremony at the location of Towdah’s Kool Table on Thursday night that a healthy cuisine is a focus of the new venture.
“Towdah’s Kool Table consists of local, healthy cuisine where you can come in, you can relax, bring a friend, bring a spouse and enjoy healthy foods,” she said.
Joseph-George added that Towdah’s Kool Table also provides a range of salads, grilled chicken, and grilled pork among other menu items as well as a wide variety of drinks.
“Here at Towdah’s Kool Table, we cater for every kind…,” she said. “We also have free WiFi for our guests and a lounge area where customers can come in and enjoy a glass of wine.”
The business will initially be opened from 8:00am to 6:00pm, she said, adding, “the next leg of our journey we are going to increase our hours, we are going to go into night; because of the ambiance of the place, a lot of people want to come in at night.”
Joseph-George indicated that the business will also open its doors on Saturdays from 7:30am to 5:00pm, to provide what she calls “Saturday Delight” consisting of different soups, broth, paleau and fig(banana) with salt fish.
The business held its grand opening on Friday from 12 noon to midnight.
“We started with ‘On The Grill’ since Fridays are considered as ‘On The Grill Fridays’,” she stated. “It’s going to be grand…… we want persons to come in and relax and enjoy the grilled healthy foods…”
I have been to TKT and the food is great, I had the grill fish, the bake pork, the stew turkey, and ohh the coco tea, the food is exquisite and the price is very reasonable for the service that’s receive. I must add that the customer service is the best I have seen in any restaurant in Dominica (sorry to say).
I want to wish management and staff all the best in this new venture keep up the good work so far. Nabiner if you are reading this keep your head high i admire you from since high school, always determine, always pushing, never take no for it WOW keep up the good work and our young people should take note, that’s a young woman here working hard when some of us sitting down on the computer all day hating…smh get a job!
Ginger ask what is the difference about this place. The customer service at TkT is wonderful compare to a lot of places in Roseau including those that are well established. Why is it so hard to wish a person good luck and actually mean it from the heart?? I have visited there with a friend and we had a delicious meal and tasty cocktails and even ice cream dessert. We both are looking forward to going again and also invite other friends. It is a great hang out spot to meet with friends and family and you get served with excellence. Let us put our jealousy aside and wish the young lady all the best in her business.
Very nice… Best wished on this new venture!
whoooooos my woman doing great things. Praise the lord sis
Nice idea but ambiance is not appealing especially for dinner. It looks more like a “come and chill” rather than “Let’s go to dinner” kinda place.
Just a bit of constructive/positive criticism.
Thankfully I am not one of those Dominican’s who like to criticize and not offer any helpful suggestions. I have been to Towdah’s Kool Table and I tell you… the food is quite delicious. If there is something you don’t want they’re always willing to accommodate. This is actually what will set TKT apart from the other eateries. Each person is unique in their own right, what I may want to eat another Dominican will not, and there are many restaurants to choose from so I think we can quit with the unsavory remarks…
I wish Nabiner and the staff of Towdah’s Kool Table all the very best. As a Dominican, I will do my best to ensure that I tell a friend to tell a friend to check out this new eatery in town!
Towdah is of course then old Hebrew word for”thnaks”, used many times in the bible. Will the dinners be treated to lecture of the scriptures with their fried chicken and get a free tract with their bill?
Will they serve manna perhaps with falafel on the side? All joking aside, I wish them well. Too many establishments here come and go. I am particularly worried though about the new trend of establishing eating stalls in town, occupying the entire pavement, inconveniencing pedestrians who are already faced with an obstacle course in Roseau. Are they properly licenced?Do they have public convenience facilities or running water? I do not think these stalls hygenic and they are unfair competition to establishments like Towdah, which face much higher bills for maintaining their establishments in a proper manner. Erika removed these eyesores on the river bank, only for them to reappear like fungus, cluttering the side walks of Roseau.
Dominicans are too envious. We cry down our own people. Jeeeeez just wish her all the best in her new venture
I truly do wish you all the best of luck with this venture. But I’m sorry to say that lounge area is awful. It looks like something from the 1960’s. Where are the comfy chairs ?? Everyone will be propped up sitting along the wall, on what looks like hard plastic covered seating. Very old idea.
If you did not have a bad comment you was not a Dominican we always have negative attitude lets give praises and stop crying down people effort .Good luck and wishing you well
Negative comments are not always a bad thing. It helps you see things that you did not see before. In the end it is about the CUSTOMER experience. That is the kind of feedback you want if this is to be a success.
I look forward to visting while I am in Dominica….nevertheless the Best of success to you and your entire staff at Towdahs Kool Table
Sounds good and looks good on the inside. However, I did not see any washroom facility. Hope it is there bust was not shown. I also have a question regarding the color. That bright RED might turn down many potential customers. That’s just My take ok. Best of lock though
Congrates to the manager of Towdahs! We needed a healthy eatery with good ambiance. Long live Towdah’s Kool Table.
well deserved ,an inspired woman
Good luck, progress and success with your new establishment.
May it also flourish with numerous patrons.
When you especially open at nights, ensure you have a good security alarm system.
what is the difference between this place and everywhere else. Sounds like the same ole same ole to me. How do you stand out in the crowd
What will make it different from other places, is when they close later, so that people can actually go to dinner there. Dinner doesn’t end at 6. I always wonder why we don’t have nice eating places that close at midnight. I like going out to dinner with friends, but we go after work here in the US and none of us get off work before 6. We go from work and head home around 9 or 10, usually on Thursdays. Hope this place gets to that standard.
Teresa, I don’t think you want to hang around in Roseau for too long after dark, unfortunately.
You want them to stay open late so that you and your friends can have dinner in the US?
Perhaps you should think it there was a demand for late night dining, restaurants would stay open later to meet that demand.
Some of you think that because something works in the States, it will also work in Dominica.
God blessing all my Dominican people
Good luck with your venture. It would be nice to have some sophisticated night life in Roseau for us tourist
Good stuff, looking forward to visiting when I’m back home
May i get a job please??
go girl we need something like that in DA otherwise it is boring
Sounds great, but please place a lot of emphasis on customer service. Seems like a nice place.
