New motorcycles for Dominican police

Signing of contracts for the new bikes

Police presence in Dominica is expected to increase following assistance from a friendly government.

On Thursday Government signed an agreement with the People’s Republic of China for ninety motorcycles which Minister for national security, Charles Saverin says will assist in enhancing the security of the state.

“We are talking about 40 with side cars and 50 stand-alone bikes, the specific areas has to do with the provision of motorcycles …. now with the roads we’ve been building and so on we have been talking about traffic control and this will assist us tremendously in patrolling the roads and communities of Dominica as well as providing the protective gear that police requires in their operations including glasses, shields, helmets and things of that nature,” he said.

Although a value has not been placed on the donation, Savarin noted that it is a significant contribution towards the goal of effective policing.

Is so we like it and it’s so we want it. Beg and take handouts.

This country needs real strong leadership especially for the young ones coming up who are being corrupted by their parents and the current crop of politicians with stink attitude and ethics.

How many times I happen to be in Financial centre on a clinic day and it’s to see how many women there with their children meanwhile they talking away on their blackberry with their weaves and flashy nails. Great lesson! You can buy blackberry and weave and do nails but you begging PM for money instead of working.

Back in the day, pride would keep us from red clinic. Today no shame nuh in fact, its with pride we in the lobby waiting to take handout feeling smart too because you have to be stupid to work when all you have to do is beg. Todays calibre of citizen.

    mr minster,may i borrow your party’s favorite terminology’TUNNEL VISION’.
I think you guys are affected by tunnel vision. To tell me that the coutry is safe, and you guys are plunging the country in a sort of debt relationship that is going to cost us one way or another. Instead you asked for things to uplift the nation like,AMBULANCE,FIRE TRUCKS,GABAGE TRUCKS and things like that, which is badly needed to pacify the nation, you going for things to terrorise the nation, with ‘That’ sort of concentration you have me asking, what direction are we heading???Really n Turely this song like TUNNEL VISION to me.

The last time the police received motorcycles from China it was 50HP. These motorcycles were cheaply constructed and just did not last. Let’s see what’s in this sealed gift.

That’s real progress. At last i can see some meaningful values to driving down the forever increasing crime rate and accidental driving offences out here in Dominica.

I do hoe those individuals in charge of those machines are also disciplined and trained to a very high level of awareness.

Well done and thank you to the ROC’s contributions.

Now let us all see if they are going to be a model for the rest of the motor cycle riders or if they show the same disregard for the traffic laws as all the rest.

It’s all good. Mobility is key.
Question: Does this mean when citizens call for help they will no longer be told ‘we coming jus now, our vehicle is in the neighboring village, as soon as it come back’?? Sad but true!

Motorcycles will help with traffic? Really? meanwhile keep all the bus depots in town and vendors on all the sidewalks and continue allowing double parking on all streets?

Anyway Dominica is poor for a reason and it has nothing to do with size of population.
