Just one week ahead of the highly anticipated Miss Dominica pageant scheduled for Thursday, February 8, at Carnival City, contestant number two, Nickese Morancie, representing the community of Dublanc, has officially been sashed as Miss Petro Caribe.

This significant announcement marks a triumphant moment for Morancie, who has had some difficulty securing sponsorship for the prestigious event.

During the official sashing ceremony, the 21-year-old expressed her gratitude, reflecting on a journey filled with exciting experiences amidst the challenges. She highlighted her dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and the global community, aligning with her chosen platform, “The Preservation, Conservation, and Promotion of the Environment and Wildlife.”

With the goal of raising awareness about the importance of protecting Mother Nature, Morancie emphasized that being sashed by Petro Caribe perfectly aligns with her platform and aspirations.

Confident in the partnership, Morancie stated, ‘With this collaboration, I believe we can achieve significant change. To the Petro Caribe team, I am eternally grateful for having confidence in me to represent your company and for taking that bold step to sponsor my journey to the throne. I hope our partnership proves to be prosperous as we continue this prestigious journey together.”

Tamika Chambers, Sales and Marketing Manager at PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd, expressed the company’s “great honor” in sponsoring Morancie. She pointed to the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting various events in the arts and contributing to housing, education, and health.

Chambers declared, “To Miss Morancie, the future is full of possibilities as we and our company stand with you when you grace the stage on February 8.”

Acting Chief Cultural Officer, Earlston Matthew, thanked the company for their support and pointed out that Petro Caribe’s contribution to the community  expends beyond the Miss Dominica pageant. He said Petro Caribe came on board with a sincere desire to help and expressed hope that this sponsorship would serve as a blueprint for other companies to contribute to the Mas Domnik product and the overall Dominican brand.

This recent sponsorship is not the first support Morancie has received. During her village launch almost two weeks ago, faced with the challenge of a lack of corporate sponsorship, she garnered overwhelming encouragement from the communities of Dublanc, Bioche, Colihaut, and surrounding areas, along with support from the diaspora. Residents pledged various amounts and pooled resources to assist Morancie in funding her journey to the Miss Dominica stage.

According to a DDA official, there’s still one other Miss Dominica competitor, Contestant number four, Kianne Bastien who is still in search of full sponsorship.

Other contestants and their sponsors for the upcoming pageant include contestant number one, Jorjanna Albert (Miss Auto Trade and Fine Food Ltd); Contestant number three, Royhanna Martin (Miss Insta Cash – Dominica National Lottery); Contestant number five, Deniscia Laurent (Miss J. Astaphan and Company Ltd); and Contestant number six, Kyanna Dyer (Miss Ocean Edge Hotel).
