A student of the Bellevue Primary school, Jaylan Etienne, has copped the 1st prize in an essay competition organized by the Oral Health Section of the Ministry of Health.
The competition was one of the activities organized to observe Oral Health week.
Students were expected to write an essay on the topic “Oral health is the gateway to overall health.”
Chief Dental Health Officer, Dr. Idaline John, in her address said that the dental health unit is pleased with the outcome of the Oral Health Week.
She added, “we believe that people are becoming more and more conscience of oral health everyday and enthusiasm and continued efforts at looking at their oral health are anticipated. The school health dental program is most in need of corporation from parents. When appointments are given to the children to visit the dentist or dental therapist, please try to keep it. If for any reason an appointment cannot be kept parents should find a way to notify the dentist or dental therapist.”
In the meantime, representative of Jolly’s Pharmacy, the Unit’s main sponsor for the week, Carlton Lando, presented Dr. John with 100 toothbrushes. Lando noted that the donation will be used by the dental health team to assist in the promotion of oral hygiene.
Jaylan Ettienne from the Bellevue Primary School came in first while Serena Shillingford of the Salisbury Primary emerged second. Joy Royer of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School took fourth place.

Great cause too many bad breath people workin around the place
This reminds me that I meant to state on the previous article pertaining to dental health care, I read on a health website, the toothbrush should be changed at least every three months. Someone also stated, once a month. This is due to accumulation of bacteria which could also cause colds/flues and other infections. I made good note of this and practice it.
WELL DONE LITTLE BOY.Learn well and aim at being a dentist!
Hurray to Jaylan. Bellevue Chopin Government School my Alma Mater.
Joy got third place. Roosevelt Douglas on the rise. Congrats to the other students but special congratulations to Joy Royer
