There has been talk swirling around Dominica about the formation of a new political party and many questions are being asked about whether this new party is actually being formed, who is behind its alleged formation, and when will it emerge.
Dominica News Online (DNO) can confirm that a group of persons including former Parliamentarians have been meeting to discuss and prepare what is dubbed the “people’s movement”. According to a reliable source, the said group met at the St Cyr Resource Center in the Kalinago Territory on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Inquiries to ascertain the purpose of the meeting proved futile, except that the source informed that over 60 people consisting of representatives from every constituency were present at the meeting. DNO probed further, but the questions resulted in no additional information being given.
The source informed DNO that this group of people planted a seed, “a seed has been planted in fertile and stable soil and will prosper in the interest of Dominica.”

Let us take a serious look at APP, TUD and DFP These three political parties can’t even present a top slate of serious candidates to the public.
The local economy is sluggish at best and comatose at worst. These prospective new hopefuls see politics as the only way out of their economic misery. They have observed Roosevelt made it from church mouse poor to the wealthiest man in the Caribbean. Political success is their ticket to opulence.
Dominica needs much more social and economic activism and advocacy, not more corrupt politicians. These modern day politicians place personal enrichment before the advancement of the people or the development of the country. Dominica now has the largest number of politicians per capita.
