There is reportedly widespread excitement among Calypso enthusiasts for the upcoming Grand Finals scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026.
However, organizers say that it is important to recognize that the grandeur of the event cannot be realized without first completing the traditional dipping ceremony.
So on Tuesday, February 10, they report that Calypso House hosted this significant ritual, where ten calypsonians took part in the dipping process, alongside the judges who also participated.
The process was notably distinctive this year, explained Dominica Calypso Association PRO, Peter Letang via audio release. He extended special acknowledgment to the headline sponsors—Flow, Dominica, and Josephine Gabriel and Company Limited—for their innovative approach to conducting the dipping.
The panel of judges for the night included Nadine Riviere, Yola Toussaint, Loftus Durand, Susan Alexander, Curline Pierre-louis, Al Monelle, Leona John, Natasha Henderson, with Julian Benjamin serving as Chief Judge. Reserve judges Patrick Fontaine and Edward Lawrence also participated in the proceedings.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, the top contenders have been identified. Currently, the leading calypsonian is Abiyah Israel, followed by Reds in second place, JD in third, Caressa in fourth, Checker fifth, Joy sixth, Tasha P seventh, Daddy Chess eighth, the Bobb ninth, and Nacheal rounding out the top ten.
These ten artists are expected to deliver their best performances, aiming to entertain the audience and impress the judging panel, who will determine the winners.
Dominican supporters are strongly encouraged to attend the Grand Finals at the stadium on February 14, 2026, starting at 8:30 AM.
Tickets are available at various price points: general standing at $100, general seating at $150, elevated seating at $250, and VIP party packages at $250.
According to Letang, the call to all is clear—”Kaiso, kaiso!”
