Residents of Pichelin, which is part of the Petite Savanne constituency, were up in arms on Monaday because of their dissatisfaction with reported attempts to get the recently-declared Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for that constituency, Marva Williams, to step down.
Unconfirmed reports are that the DLP hierarchy has asked Williams to withdraw her candidacy to make way for the return of the current parliamentary representative, Dr. Kenneth Darroux. Darroux was left out when prime minister Skerrit announced sweeping changes to his slate of candidates for the next general election, earlier this year.
The word is that the party has lost confidence in Williams’ ability to retain that seat which has been a DLP stronghold for the past 29 years and has asked Darroux to run again.
Dominica News Online (DNO) has not yet been able to independently confirm this information, however, reports are that Williams has been invited to meet with top DLP officials to discuss the matter and this has not gone down well with her and many of her fellow-villagers.
Several Pichelin residents took to the streets of the village Monday bearing placards and vociferously expressing their opposition to that move, shouting “No Marva, no vote!”.
The findings of an election poll conducted by the Caribbean Agency for Political Advancement (CAPA) indicate that The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) would probably not hold on to the ruling majority in the government of Dominica if elections were to be called today.

But why you UWPITES are so involved and concerned about the internal matters or affairs of the Labour Party, when You all have so much more to look at and take care of in your party. What is going in the DLP is none of you all damn business. It would be best for YOU ALL to cleanse the attitude and behavior of your ROGUE Leader, and Joshua, because no matter what you think of Skerrit and what’s going on, Labour still going to win the election big..
As an undecided voter and a member of the Commonwealth of Dominica, everyone should be involved in both parties , looking at their strengths and weaknesses in order to determine which party we trust/ which party we would like to run the country. My advice to you is to respect both parties and think before you type in order to avoid public humiliation.

Skerrit has defecated on the DLP constitution. The delegates were not given their lawful rights to choose or vote for a representative of their choice. Skerrit has willfully and consistently breach the party’s constitutional norms. You know what is most amazing. The real reason for recycling buggy Darroux (buggy according to pm) is the fact that his three quarter million dollar house which is under construction will be taken by the bank if he does not get a parlrep salary of $7400 which he is currently enjoying among other perks. They refuse to pay off his mortgage so that’s their only other option. If they don’t recycle Darroux, who knows he was always a “workers” ask his family the repercussions might cost more. The other fact is that skerrit don’t like him cause he is one of the few guys with balls that can stand up to skerrit go ask skerrit if that’s not true. lol.

If the DLP does not have confidence in their candidates, how can they expect the citizens to have confidence in their candidates. DLP is desperate and is in panic mode. When opportunities to perform and build a better Dominica are squandered, it is hard to convince people that giving the party more time will produce more; especially after some 18 years. Wow! A DLp strong hold like the Petite Savanne constituency is fighting candidate now? That’s a seat we should be able to send even a broomstick to run in and they would win. To see the people protesting in support of Marva William is very worrying and reminds me of Wesley in 2014 and we know who won that seat. The truth is the when the current MP was rejected by Skerrit and he handpicked Marva and now they want to replace Marva with the MP shows confusion and for the first time really confirms that we in deep trouble this time. Seems like I will have to jump on the workers train because their candidate is better and more trustworthy than both Marva and the doctor.
