Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has challenged regional organizations to set up a climate resilient action learning program.

He presented the featured address at a conference on Building a Science and Data-Based Agenda for Decision-Making on Resilience in the Caribbean held at the Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski held on Thursday night.

According to the Prime Minister, Dominica is fully prepared to share the lessons and experiences from its efforts at becoming the first climate resilient country in the world.

“And so, I am putting a challenge to our regional organizations like [The Caribbean Community] CARICOM, the [Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States] OECS, [Caribbean Natural Resources Institute] (CANARI), [Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology] CIMH, [Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency] CEDEMA, The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and others like the OAS to setup a climate resilient action learning program around the activities of our CREAD here in Dominica,” he said.

He continued, “And I can tell you, so serious I am about this, that I intend to table resolutions on this first, in my cabinet and then our parliament and thereafter in the OECS and CARICOM, because I believe we must learn together or we will stagnate apart.”

Skerrit explained that the reality of climate change is here and the countries in the Caribbean are vulnerable.

“And therefore we have an opportunity to learn from each other, learn from lived experiences so that we can better position our countries and our citizens to deal with the impacts of climate change,” the prime minister stated.

To me is since Erica in 2015 that bridge went down. So it took Dominica how many years (7) , several hotels, 2 mansions for the PM and countless handouts of millions and millions to build it back?

“Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has challenged regional organizations to set up a climate resilient action learning program.”

If this crook, is suggesting a climate resilient action program; it seems to me that he has all the scientific text, books on the subject, and since Dominica seem to have a university where such disciplines are taught, his alternative might be to invite students from across the world to attend classes for free!

One of my problems with Roosevelt is that he thinks he is smart, but each time he opens his mouth he simply makes himself look stupid.

You know there are programs that corrupted crook heard about, he picks up bit and pieces and drop it on Dominicans as if that’s his brainchild.

Read about it in my continuation.

      Continue”
“Using Action Learning to Explore resilience Challenges.”
“Successful and sustained implementation of any change is not easy. At the resilient Shift, we are seeking to catalyst significant change in a way critical infrastructure is planned, designed, operate and maintained by making resilience tangible, practical and relevant.”
“Simon Gill and Mari Mclean of The Schumacher Institute explain a model called Action Learning used at our Workshop in New Orleans last month to help support these ideas.
That is not the fart Roosevelt is trying to impose on people; there must be some form of science involved. And that is addressed in President Biden’s Executive order1405 on catalyzing.
Too long for me to repeat verbatim, but this rubbish that Roosevelt is talking about Dominica is first resilient nation on earth, and rest of the world will learn from Dominica; somebody need to send him back to Dubi and see if his concrete slab buildings can rise to thousands of feet in…

Who listens to Skerrit? Who thinks this man can be taken seriously? A man that calls for one thing and does the opposite? Skerrit is an empty vessel with no damn voice. The man is just a pappy show or laughingstock of the Caribbean

While I support Prime Minister, Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit’s call to set up a Climate Resilient Action Learning Program, Climate Change is not the only issue affecting the region, especially the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of the the Caribbean basin. Our islands are vulnerable to earth quakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis etcetera as well as we should be looking at Disaster Risks Reduction in general from a broader perspective that would include Climate Resilience and reference things like increased incidence of storms/ hurricanes shocks like sea surges, flooding, landslides, and other climatic phenomena affecting our region like droughts.

One of the greatest threats we are faced with is the increasing incidence of the spread of communicable diseases triggered by human, and, the threat of wars and nuclear weapons. Case in point is the Ukraine/ Russian War where the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is threatening to use nuclear weapons to subdue the Ukranians.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 0 Thumb down 8

No William, Russia is not threatening to use nuclear weapons in order to subdue the Ukrainians. That would not make sense because it would destroy and contaminate the very land they want to claim and occupy. On the contrary, It is a ploy to try and persuade the West not to support Ukraine and give them material support. We should also question the details of the pact Roosevelt Skerrit ratified with Russia when he visited St. Petersburg.

This narcissistic imbecile (Roosevelt), once again, is trying to influence the local news and grab regional headlines. He was partially successful with his Bitcoin comedy, and here he comes again.

Here are some of the things that should occupy his immediate attention: Priorities #1, 2, 3 should be Jobs and the Economy. Other priorities – livable wages and salaries, soaring crimes, rising inflation, electoral and constitutional reforms, et cetera.

Today, Dominica finds itself at the bottom rung of the ladder, not fortutiously, but by the ultra selfishness, greed, incompetence and corruption of one man.

My Oxford dictionary defines delusion as “beliefs or impressions that are firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality…”
Listening to the PM speak about his climate resilient action plan, one would think that Dominica dominates the rest of the Caribbean in that regard. And, thinking that the rest of the world is interested in his “lessons” on climate change sounds like an embodiment of delusions of grandeur. What the Caribbean and the rest of the world need to know is that the people in control in Dominica and their cohorts may be more of a threat to Dominica that any kind of climate change. They allegedly drain the wetlands with impunity, cut down choice forest trees to build family bars, treat the youth like useful idiots, and continue to undermine the fundamental pillars of our democracy in order to retain power.

It is by no accident, no bad luck why Dominica languishes in the cellar position among the countries o the Eastern Caribbean. No serious prime minister in the region pays much attention to his flamboyant, vacuous bloviation.

Roosevelt has decimated the economy; butchered the once thriving middle class; impoverished the local residents; destroyed large swaths of the environment; is responsible for the worst underwhelming infrastructural development of any country in the OECS.

Those are the inconvenient facts. No person with even a modicum of common sense would believe that a crass, unlettered ignoramus as Roosevelt can lead the rest of the Caribbean on this critically significant issue of Climate Change. He is incapable of forming two coherent sentences without a script prepared for him. The man is uniquely unqualified for the position he presently holds.
