PM Skerrit calls on more Dominicans to join ongoing voter confirmation process

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit took the opportunity to assert that every citizen living in Dominica and abroad who is a registered voter needs to take part in the confirmation process.

At his end-of-year press conference recently, the prime minister urged the public to join the reported 9,000 Dominicans who have confirmed their registration since the voter confirmation process got underway on October 15, 2025.

“This is not a time to stay away or to be discouraged.  It is a time to engage,” he said. “Confirming your registration is your right, and it is also your responsibility. Successful introduction of electoral reform in 2025 is also putting people first.  And so far, over 9,000 Dominicans  have confirmed their registration.”

According to Skerrit, the confirmation process has been designed to be simple,  accessible, and convenient.

Furthemore, the Prime Minister said his government successfully implemented electoral reform measures in 2025,  seeking to strengthen the integrity the transparency, and credibility of our democratic system.

“After nearly two decades of national discussion, consultation and advocacy, Parliament passed the necessary legislation to modernize Dominica’s electoral framework,” he stated.

He added that through the confirmation process, registered voters are asked to visit designated confirmation centers to verify the information,  present the required identification,  have the photographs taken, and confirm eligibility under the new system.

“This exercise allows for the cleaning and updating of the voters’ lists,  and paves the way for the issuance of voter identification cards,  ensuring that the register accurately reflects those who are legitimately entitled to vote in Dominica’s election,” Skerrit emphasized.

Meanwhile, Dominica News Online recently reported that the Electoral Office of Dominica cited Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph, saying more than 9000 individuals have submitted applications for voter verification, among these, over 700 have already been officially confirmed.

That is what DLP want for UWP and their handful of jack’s to say election is a fraud,so they will not confirm.Easy win for DLP,but whether UWP and their supporters confirm or not they cannot win an election in Dominica.Dominica is the FASTEST developing country in the caribbean.Antigua minimum wage is $9.00,Grenada minimum wage is $5.00,St.Vincent minimum wage is $7.00,St.Lucia minimum wage is $6.50,Barbados minimum wage is $8.50 Barbados dollars. Our roads are better and our houses are built much stronger and Dominicans have more freedom than anybody than on any other island in the Caribbean.Go and travel instead of sitting on your lazy do nothing butt. There are NO homeless people in Dominica, those on the streets have a mental problem, unlike the USA where people live in their cars.

It’s quite evident to me that the majority of bona fide Dominicans are not enthusiastic about confirmation nor registration at this time. The electoral system most be!have is managed by DLP operatives. Inevitably, fraud abounds.

Instead of recruiting honest respected and impartial people to oversee the affairs of this most important process, Roosevelt has inserted himself and his cronies to be the guardians of the system.

All citizens know that anything Roosevelt touches becomes tarnished with corruption. The man is a pariah.

Skerrit this is a sign that you not satisfied with de support that you get.
If you think that the number of people who participate in the confirming process is small compared to the number of eligible voters then perhaps less people are confident in the voting process. As a result you get less support. That says alot padna.
    tone down your hubris
some of us have more important things to deal with than voting for dlp period.
your support is not clear cut.
