PM Skerrit meets with independent candidates who contested December 6 general elections

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit held discussions on Friday, December 9 with the independent candidates and members of Team Unity Dominica (TUD), who contested the recent general elections.

The Dominica Labour Party won general elections held on December 6, 19-2.

Following his party’s victory at the polls, the Dominican leader said he would seek the cooperation of the independent candidates and the leaders of the main political parties in efforts to advance the country’s development agenda.

In a lengthy meeting held at the State House Conference Center, the candidates commented on the electoral process and outlined recommendations for improvements in their respective constituencies.

“I was very impressed with the contributions of those present. The exchanges were respectful and focused on results and solutions. I have always said that these are the types of constructive engagements we need to move this country forward.

“We face many challenges as a Government and country, associated with global economic uncertainty, and the devastating impact of climate change on our small island. Therefore, more than ever, we need all ideas to contend, greater stability and unity, and the collective will to pursue policies to transform Dominica into the best place to live in peace and prosperity,” Prime Minister Skerrit said.

Earlier on Friday, the Prime Minister met with the elected representative for the Marigot Constituency, Anthony Charles.

Mr. Skerrit said he plans to continue consultations with the independent candidates, opposition members and the leadership of political parties

Why didn’t the Dr Dr have the secession carried live, so Dominicans at home and abroad could listen to, and be informed of all the garbage that was spewed behind closed doors; Dominica has become a “Planet” in truth, it’s not a real country according to the Dr Dr.
