PM Skerrit says the Caribbean will be worse off without Owen Arthur

Former Barbados Prime Minister, Owen Arthur

Prime Minister Skerrit has described the late former Prime Minister of Barbados, Owen Arthur, as a “sound intellectual” and said the Caribbean will be worse off without him.

Arthur died in hospital in Barbados earlier this morning from heart complications.

“He was a regionalist, an integrationist, you know, very, very experienced and knowledgeable and for me, it was a distinct, one-in-a-lifetime privilege to have worked with Prime minister Owen Arthur around the table of CARICOM and I was able to learn quite a bit from him,” Skerrit said.

The Dominica prime minister spoke of Arthur’s diligence, his commitment to hard work and what he described as his wonderful spirit and said that he worked with the late Barbadian prime minister as recently as this year in his capacity as the Chairman of LIAT.

“He is somebody who, back then, being a young prime minister, I was able to reach out to and seek counsel and advice on many things from political issues to governmental issues,” Skerrit recalled.

Prime Minister Skerrit also remembers Arthur as the prime minister of Barbados when that country came to Dominica’s assistance during its structural adjustment programme adjustment programme with the IMF in the early 200s.

“Prime Minister Owen Arthur then was one of the most strident supporters of our efforts in Dominica to the extent that Barbados granted Dominica a highly concessionary loan of ten million US dollars to assist with its financial and economic challenges and so, we remain eternally grateful to him,” Skerrit stated.

He said Arthur was also a very strong advocate at the Caribbean Development Bank and other international financial institutions to mobilize support for Dominica.

“I want, on behalf of the government of Dominica, the people of Dominica and on my own behalf, to extend sincere condolences to the government and people of Barbados and in particular, Prime Minister Owen Arthur’s wife and his two daughters,” the Dominica prime minister stated.

If by the passing if the late Owen Arthur the Caribbean region is worse off, that’s also saying that the current crop of leaders are not up to snuff and are of questionable character and competence. I agree with you on that one partner. During the tenure of Mr. Arthur, leaders in the Caribbean valued truth-telling and integrity. They weren’t on a get rich quick glide path. Today’s crop of leaders are just hell-bent in pushing the envelope and seeing how far they can get away with riding roughshod on the norms and precedents inherited from our past colonial rule. You have implicated yourself as less than.

Is skerrit forecasting doom and gloom in the Caribbean in the hot to distant future just because Owen Arthur has passed?
That uninspiring forecast is the direct result of seriously incompetent millionaire wannabe Caribbean leadership who selfishly feather their nest all the while ignoring the ruin to their national pride along with the economy.
I see no Owen Arthur quality in skerrit at all.
Did Owen Arthur advise you to disrespect your PM and pledge allegiance to China?….as a junior minister skerrit?
Did you get a pay on the back for that?

    Skerrit always praising bajan

Owen Arthur…..to my knowledge never rented a house for $32,000 on bajan people back. His honorable name will be high up on de wall of dignity.
Greedy foolish pride millionaire leaders will have their names buried in a pit of dishonor and shame.

Owen Arthur moved his people and nation to prosperity

This boy Roosevelt is simply piping hot bull crap.
One could have made a statement like that if they could point to anything significant which one can say this is what he has done, as a result the Caribbean is better off because of some particular thing which he did.

So, I challenge the corrupted crook Roosevelt Chichi to elaborate on anything that man did which brought prosperty to the Caribbean, now that he’s dead the people of the region will be worst off.

If he did so much; why is that he did not die prime minister of Barbsdos?
Perhaps it is because he did not know how to thief elections, and thief money from Barbados treasury.
If you that corrupted sucker had learned a bit from him, we know it was not honesty.
And shirley he would have taught not to become a corrupted crook!

He, Owin Arthur, was Prime Minister of Barbados and when he was no longer Prime Minister of Barbados, Barbados was not worse off. so tell me how can the Caribbean be worse off without him now that he is dead…

One thing for sure Barbados is not worse off because they have Ross University School of Medicine and they want to get rid of the LIAT albatross and most regional embassies including the US Embassy are based in Barbados.

Leaders come and leaders go…Honeychurch finally admit Dominica worse off under Labour because all you met UWP in an advance stage of international airport development and all you abandon it and 20 years gone soon 25 and all you will still be fooling Dominicans…   They worse off because of all you.

So sad to hear, yet, we all must travel this road. Condolences to his family and friends.
Honourable PM Skerrit, I am so elated that he taught you some skills in your interactions with him. I am of the inclination to think that one of the things he taught you is/was the responsibility of individuals in the public sphere to account for resources placed at their disposal.
A most fitting way to remember Sir Arthur, would be for you to ACCOUNT for the 1.2 BILLION dollars you promised us almost ONE YEAR AGO.
If you cannot do that, then I suggest you stop the hypocrisy.
    HOTEP!

I remember hearing similar nice words when Rosie Douglas and Pierre Charles died. Seems like some people love and respect people when they die more than when they are alive. PM did you take Owen Arthur’s advise after hurricane Maria or you rejected it? https://www.pinterest.ie/sw-shell.html

Skerrit if the passing of Owen Aurthur makes the Caribbean worst off then that means he failed miserably as a leader and so to did the others who sat around the table with him and continue to fail. Only a Jack As…s would think he on this earth forever, hence the reason that leaders must do what is needed to uplift the people of the country and region so they leave it better than they found it. When they die democracy is not destroyed but made better. Your utterances are self serving as usual to give the impression that without you Dominica is in hell and the sad part is seemingly educated people accept they are useless. Your aggressiveness and constant need of adoration is a front for you insecurity, greed, hate, lies, deception and disdain for dominicans. I have seen your actions before and during politics and after 20 years Dominica and dominicans are worst of. You should ask yourself what have you done to make the Caribbean and Dominica better when your time come?

What I know for sure is Dominica would be better off without Skerrit.
Since we always like a scripture here is Galatians 5:12 ” My desire is that they who give you trouble might even be cut off themselves.

Your stupid rhetoric is always the same!
The only time you deviate is when you pay your ghost writer to write diabolical crap for you; the nonsense you talk about flies; is so stupid I am going confuse you with something you are not capable of understanding:

:flys synonyms, flys pronunciation, flys translation, the English dictionary definition of flys. v. flew , flown , fly·ing , flies v. intr.  1. To engage in flight, especially: to move through the air by means of wings or winglike parts.”

Now this is what you are; you are king of this species of fly’s; you are a fly !

Although many winged insects are commonly called flies, the name is strictly applicable only to members of Diptera. One of the largest insect orders, it numbers more than 120,000 species that are relatively small; and that is why your mind is so small and limited.

        Try this on for size:

        “Flies.”VERB flies: third person present:

Pilots control the flight of an aircraft.

          Hahahahahahahahahahahahah!

I think both of you need to go and asks Mrs. Charles to explain it!

Eugenia Charles was born Charles, never married, only played around with Frank Baron most people know; but you smart Elizabeth, and your smart educational tutor Man Dog know some Charles she was married to.

You two are eating your insults now; you see sometimes people insults themselves when they are caught in their own stupidity!
