Poem: The scenic flight

I dream of your beauty, your spirit
And then I soar, as if in reality,
Taking flight as the breeze my buddy be,
And oh, what splendor,
As I marvel at your body,
So strong and so majestic.

I immerse myself into your folds,
And behold those glistening streaks
As they break into fluff,
And then I am even the more, lost,
As some plunge into those basins
Where my spirit is pampered.

As I fly on to the higher heights,
I encounter your stalwart muscles,
And then visualize travelling through
You multi-shaded green cover,
But alas, I will be lost in emotions
That I, only, but wonder.

I smell sweetness released by your flora,
And I’m enchanted by the melodious tunes
Of your fine feathery friends,
And as if in a sauna
I relish the precious steam
Emitted from your tabletop lake.

The tantalizing sulphur fumes
Are invitations to immerse,
To soothe my aching body
To vitalize my weary spirit
And to polish my skin
In your natural boiling springs.

As my journey continues,
I behold your varying borders
With those sharply emerging
From the ocean-blue waters.
And those which tickle my sensations
And bid me welcome.

There my spirit descends
To savor your rich black beach
And feel the lapping waves
At my tingling toes and feet
And then I awake
Oh beautiful Dominica.
