Those who participated in the protest on August 08th that caused police to use teargas to disperse crowds in Antigua and Barbuda were asked to get tested for Covid-19, after the lawmen who were in the protest tested positive.
The government said on Thursday that several police officers who were present on Market Street that Sunday afternoon tested positive for covid-19.
“Those who took part in the gathering, even as spectators, are encouraged to have themselves tested for Covid-19, so that they may not spread the disease to their loved-ones, their co-workers, and the folks they might encounter on buses, in shops, and other public and private spaces. Young children are among the vulnerable”, the Cabinet notes read.
Close to 100 people participated in the demonstration against what they consider to be mandatory vaccination and their right to choose without being marginalized in this pandemic.
Check and see the police officers were fully geared with helmets and face shields and all. More than a regular mask, their whole bodies were covered from head to toe. Yet they testing positive. Maybe they had the virus to begin with?
Or maybe the authorities will say this proves masks and such cannot protect you, so you need to take the vaccine.
