Police investigate apparent suicide

The Criminal Investigations Department (C.I.D) of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has commenced investigations into what appeared to be the suicidal death of 56-year-old Gifford Irish.

Police reports revealed that Irish was found hanging at his home at Castle Comfort by his wife Zarina Irish at about 6:45 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

The reports stated further that according to Mrs. Irish, she met her husband hanging from a rope, which was tied over a bedroom door with a white pail and a piece of a cinder block near him.

She therefore called for help and attempted CPR to no avail.  Fire department officials also arrived and attempted CPR, which proved futile. Doctor Angel was summoned to the scene and pronounced the body dead at 9:22 AM.

The scene was processed by a crime scene technician and the body was transported to Lyndhurst Funeral Home, where it is awaiting an autopsy.

Is it not better to know the truth than to believe in speculation?
Why are some of you so damn stupid, and try to be so secretive? Who can be harmed by learning a man hang himself! There are plenty of people in Dominica with severe psychological, and psychiatric conditions who need help, the longer they remain without psychiatric counseling and medically treated, the potential exists for many more to take the same way out of their psychological misery which is hanging themselves or by some other means.
You are occupying a very dark and backward space in this earth, try to expand your knowledge, rather than entertain such primitive way of thinking.
In Dominica people get sick, refuse to disclose it or even go to visit a doctor until they are near death!
    That is stupidity!
Here you are talking nonsense about too much detail, maybe if he told someone he was feeling suicidal, they might advise him to get help, he might be alive!

Mr Intelligence, all what u said there has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that too much details were given. That information is for the courts. Saying that it was alleged suicide and that he was found hanging by his wife would have been sufficient. smh

Sad indeed! Condolences to the wife and the rest of the family. Life in Dominica is getting progressively tough by the day. It’s becoming quite unbearable for too many. I hope that things turn around expeditiously. Don’t want suicide to become a better option to the hardships that one has to confront.

That was too detailed for the public. Mr Police Force P.R.O you don’t have to state everything that the person told u for your investigations as part of the information for the public.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 9 Thumb down 11
