Police investigate suspected suicide at Layou Park

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of 38-year-old Gregory Isaac from the community of Layou Park.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, in charge of the southern division, Leana Edwards reported that on May 9, 2022, police officers at the St. Joseph station were alerted to the incident by a neighbor of the deceased.

The individual told the police that Isaac was hanging by the neck from a piece of rope, which was tied to the roof of his house.

“The St. Joseph police and the Crime Scene Officers responded to the report. There were no visible marks of violence on the body. The necessary crime scene investigations were conducted and the body was subsequently transported to the St. Joseph Health Center, where it was officially pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor,” Edwards said.

She said thereafter, the body of the deceased was transported to the Gentle Rest Funeral Home for safekeeping pending a post mortem examination.

According to Edwards, no foul play is suspected.

Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.Depression is a devastating problem that is common globally but in the Caribbean we tend to not prioritize it’s impact until it’s too late.Lots of people suffering in silence and for whatever reason cannot get the help they need.

Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 8 Thumb down 1
