The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of 38-year-old Gregory Isaac from the community of Layou Park.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, in charge of the southern division, Leana Edwards reported that on May 9, 2022, police officers at the St. Joseph station were alerted to the incident by a neighbor of the deceased.
The individual told the police that Isaac was hanging by the neck from a piece of rope, which was tied to the roof of his house.
“The St. Joseph police and the Crime Scene Officers responded to the report. There were no visible marks of violence on the body. The necessary crime scene investigations were conducted and the body was subsequently transported to the St. Joseph Health Center, where it was officially pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor,” Edwards said.
She said thereafter, the body of the deceased was transported to the Gentle Rest Funeral Home for safekeeping pending a post mortem examination.
According to Edwards, no foul play is suspected.
