Obama wins second term

President Barack Obama rode a wave of broad support from moderates, women and minorities to win re-election Tuesday by defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney in Democratic strongholds and key battleground states.

According to CNN projections, Obama surpassed the decisive 270-vote threshold in the Electoral College with victory in Ohio. That and a later projected victory in another swing state — Virginia — gave him 303 electoral votes to 206 for Romney, according to the CNN call based on unofficial returns.

Joyful supporters danced and cheered at Obama’s victory party in Chicago, and the president thanked them for ensuring the nation will continue to move forward while warning the battle for change they seek will continue to be difficult.

All this is going to do is make Obama look worst and get flamed by Americans. At the moment not even Jesus himself can save America… Apparently you all are happy that a black man is going to be deemed as the worst president in America. R-I-P United states. I know he was going to win tho, cuz HIS BLACK.

We Americans vote on Issues which is beneficial to us. Not supporting a party and our personal lives are a mess, can’t get a job, can’t get a raise, can’t get a promotion unless you know someone. We Americans support issues which are near and dear to us.

happy for all those who lives in Dominica but get emotionaly caught up in the US elestions like there is some form of benefit to us down here. The US policies towards the 3rd world countries remains the same whether Obama or Romney won this elections. I am not an African American so i am excited about a black man being in power. I am used to black men being in power even women being in power. what we have to concentrate on is building our own country. Obama was there for 4 years already and we in the region have not benefited from him being in power so i dont understand all the excitement of a black man being in power if its the same as when a white man was in power. It remains the same to most of us living in Dominica. Our lives are not gonna improve because Obama won. We should get excited when there is improvement in our standard of living and we are better able to put bread on the table.

Dominica is your home, your priority and your focus… Not America! Lets Work with our people and government and we will see progress. Congratulations my president! I was a part of history in 2008, and I proudly cast my ballot again last night. Truth, love for your fellow citizens, and fairness to all will forever prevail.

All those who obstructed you so that you weren’t able to properly take care of the peiople’s business have failed; their quest to make you a one term president failed, their demonization of you did not sway the American people’s resolve; their attempts to surpress the vote only made us more determined.

Now its time to move forward and work as hard as you can for the American People (all Americans)

    Cheers :)

Mouth Of The South where art thou. You disappeared like Peeping Tom and PROF WIKILEAKS? Sorry you wasted your vote on a chameleon candidate who was flip flopping like an oriental gymnast. Your Republican Party is out of touch and so stuck in the Jim Crow era that they are still in their garages looking for the water hoses to hose down non whites.
They spent 4 years tying to make the destiny a one term president rather than to connect with the poor and middle class.

    President Barack Obama!

I wrote a long prayer on your behalf, right below the photo with a large group of the Men of Cloth praying for you as well. We have nothing else to say at this time, except to give thanks to God for hearing our prayers and to answer them.

All I wish now, is that you go back to your office with the thought that you are there by the Will of God. And then let Americans witness that God is a Living God, as He does wonders for His people through you and your men and women in office.

The song says “God bless America”, It is for that reason Americans have chosen you. Strive for their satisfaction as you allow wisdom, humility, and your other virtues, to be the weapons you use to fight against your adversaries and to do your work as the Primary Leader of your Nation–and do not ever forget: “To God be the glory”!

This victory brings to mind Edward Oliver Leblanc’s second victory over “big Money and the Roseau Elite/Mulatto/Merchant Class”in 1966 General Elections in Dominica!Hope he initiates some sound development policies towards the Commonwealth Caribbean in this Second Term. His first term was dismal in that regard.

      November 7, 2012

What a shallow description and comparison you have made regarding the victory of Obama coupled with fantasy.Your reference to big money is so laughable. Have you not asked your self where Obama got all that money to finance his reelection, have you not heard the staggering amount of money spent on this election. Why are you so ignorant believing that this victory by Obama was over big money and that he came into this race with limited amount of money and won his opponent who hard all the money, wow pity you.

Your comment quote.”Hope he initiates some sound development policies towards the Commonwealth Caribbean in this Second Term. His first term was dismal in that regard.” I’m glad you used the word hope,it seems Obama really sold you that hope well keep on hoping. What you need to do is to stop making Politicians sell you hope, and start thinking.

Well how are you going to develop without big money investment? who will provide the employment? How will you get more legal foreign revenue into the country? How will the economy grow so that micro enterprise can grow?

or were you planning on AID money as the tool for development? well as a matter fact it seems thats exactly what you are thinking because there you are hoping that Obama, the president of the United of America, makes policies to help DOMINICA.

I bet a successful term to you is Obama giving millions and millions and millions of dollars to Dominica not so? so you can sit on your fat behind and do nothing.

Hey it’s Wednesday! Make sure you’re not late for Red Clinic!

Here we go again, making comparisons between the zombie ( jumbie ) jamboree we had, and still have going on in Dominica to the standards we find in America.

There is nothing Oliver Leblanc did in Dominica in the 1950’s as Chief Minister that can be compared to what has taken place in America, last night.

In the first place when Leblanc came to power, there wasn’t any big money in Dominica, people did not spend money advertising or anything like that.

To become a Candidate one had to be on a ticket, and pay into the treasury less than fifty dollars, which half the time they lost by the time the elections were over.

In Leblanc day the focus was on getting every white face out of Dominica, though they were very few! Leblanc and the Labor party wanted all of the Estate Land owned by less than a handful of whites from England to become the property of native Dominicans.

Hence they pressured the owners of the Melville Hall, Woodford Hill, Pickard Estate, L Rose and company politically, until they left Dominica, not realizing that Dominica’s survival at the days of the 1950’s depended on the estates which provided employment for the laborer population of the 1950’s.

When we get into writing and creating impression we have to be careful to tell the truth, and not exaggerate the truth because what we say can have lasting effect on the youth of the day who will learn about Edward Oliver Leblanc from what they read from you.

If it is a lie, that lie will become history, and I am certain some of us does not want that.

In Leblanc day I was less than seven years old, However, endowed with perfect long term, and short term memory, I am positive that there was no big money spent on Election by any politician, or any body in Roseau as one claims.

Mind you we did not even have a Radio Station in the country never mind Television.

We had the Dominica, Chronicle, and the Dominica Herald, two once per week Newspaper. The Windward Islands Radio was installed in Grenada about 1955, of which Dominica got 15 minuets per day to broadcast Dominica news.

If you learn anything from the results of the American general Election lasts night, it should be that a lie, no matter how big cannot prevail over the truth.

And the truth is there were no big money or small money spent in Dominica in Leblanc day, you need to know also in Leblanc day the population of Dominica was between twenty-five and thirty thousand people.

That is the truth, do not make any comparison with America and Dominica politically period.

For centuries the whites have been voting based on a colour code but today they want you all to hold the little black man ransom. But Just for your information if President Obama was on a republican ticket he would not have gotten my vote. So for me it is not about colour but ideology.
