“Crime as a political issue never really pays” – Tony Astaphan

Astaphan

Senior Counsel Tony Astaphan has commended the Dominica Freedom Party and United Workers Party (UWP)for statements condemning the killing during an attack in Pagua recently.

He has lauded the move as exemplary. “That is the position that all of us should take on a matter like that whether it is the killing of persons who invest here or the killing of local people,” he said. “Crime as a political issue never really pays.”

UWP President Edison James expressed hope that police will move quickly to arrest those behind the murder of Irish national Joe Costello. The perpetrators also attacked the owners of Pagua Bay House in Marigot.

Political leader of the Dominican Freedom Party also condemned the attack describing it as “unwarranted” which she said can “only damage our fragile tourism industry and undermine investor confidence.”

Astaphan said it’s now time to allow police to pursue the matter.

So this is what DA become? Tony Astaphan is Prime Minister, Chief of Police, Head of Broadcasting.

This man has spent years dividing and conquering Dominica. Wake up Dominicans and cast aside the yoke of oppression. But his time is coming. Tato tato.

Is so Dominica come? The “Chief” of Police, Carrette, and the Dominica Police Force say they are working to get Seco back to Dominica to be interviewed re. the firebombing of two senior citizens’ home. Seco was heard talking to Tony Astaphan on a radio programme from somewhere outside of Dominica. Seco himself revealed that he called and spoke to police, even telling them where he was. On that programme Seco was allowed to deny having anything to do to facilitate the heinous crime.

Was Tony Astaphan correct in doing what he did to host someone on his radio programme who the Police has an interest in getting back to Dominica for questioning about a horrendous crime committed? Is that action aimed at assisting the Police investigators or is it interfering with the Police work as they seek to solve that attempted murder of Emanuel and his wife? Is that right DNO? My fellow Dominicans is that right?

How many of you have heard any condemnation from certain people about that heinous firebombing crime? All crimes are crimes and especially such terrible criminal acts must be condemned by all. The investigators must muster the strength, courage and will among all odds to quickly get a resolution and to bring the perpertrators to justice. No one, be it lawyer, politician, farmer, police, business person, no one must be allowed to put a spoke in the wheels of justice or allowed to block that investigative process.

Every Dominican is following that case closely and awaiting the outcome because some fuung things are going on. What a crucial test for our investigators and the judicial system in Dominica. All crimes are crimes, remember, and it must not be seen that any one is being protected irrespective of political persuasion, colour, creed or social status.

Tony what about their condemnation of the firebombing of GON Emmanuel? Why did you not commend them for that too? Haven’t they spoken out on crime before? It is only convinient as you see it or are you doing so to try to neutralize your obvious hypocritical stance and interest in the GON Emmauel case re the people you want to protect? Are you trying to come accross as being objective hoping people would as a result trust your position on the GON Emmanuel case. Oh please Tony, stop being the phony that you are because your support now for the UWP and Freedom position re crime is only to serve your ulterior motives or maybe it is because of the color of the victims skin just adding that on.

AS I WAS SAYING: Both Mr James and the leader of the Dominica Freedom Party would also like to see outside assistance re the firebombing and attempted murder of Mr and Mrs Emmanuel.. This matter will not go away Tony, so thats why you statement was incomplete, superficial, and lacking in detail…BY THE WAY WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT Sico/Seco..After the set up interview, you and Mr Douglas were comforted that Sico/Seco had debunked th myth of the Cabal on Q95 that he had allegedly fled Dominica…..Can you tell us where is he now?

DNO crime does not pay whether it is political or otherwise. Why is it appropriate or important to attach the political stigma to our denunciation of crime. To me it is just mere hypocrisy. I guess Tony has his reasons. What Tony is doing essentially is chastising the opposition parties under false pretense of solidarity against crime and the duty of the police to curb the rising crime rate in Dominica. The fact remains that even politically influenced crime must be dealt with in the same measure as, say the Pagua crime. In continuation of the political gimmickry someone aught to make a statement suggesting that to Tony that – Yes we ALL must come together with the police to fight crime at all levels because truly crime overlooked in some places is a facilitation of crime in all places.

IT’S ONLY NOW TONY FINDING IT PROPER TO ALLOW THE POLICE TO CARRY OUT THEIR FUNCTIONS?? YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID THE SAME THING IN MANY OTHER CASES AROUND THE ISLAND.

I understand why DNO refuses to post my comments when i seem to be critical of their Roosevelt Medard Skerrit. One of u at DNO is a close ally or supporter of this corrupt Labor Party government and Skerrit.Tony why don’t u agree that Seeko or Seco should be brought back to face the police and be charged if needs be,allow Isidore to face the courts and help us remove Roosevelt Medard Skerrit by any means neccessary from governing Waitukubuli?

ADMIN: You can be critical without being defamatory. If we think your comment can expose us to a potential lawsuit we will not post it. It is simple as that. Please see our disclaimer on the homepage.

Question to DNO: The last we heard about who is behind DNO was the it as for sale, and we have not heard anything else, could DNO please tell who is the current owner and DNO? In the interest of public knowledge and in order to assess what DNO is presenting to us we need to know what the source is, Like in consider the source!” Looking forward t your reply.

    Thank you very Much,
