Trade Minister Colin McIntrye has said that at least one donor country has responded in favour of the government concerning letters which OD Brsibane and Sons proprietor Jerry Brisbane have sent to them.
“Luckily today I read the response of one of the letters from one of these financial institutions where it said that the government of Dominica is in perfect, good standing in terms of its grants. It made it clear that the government of Dominica has not benefited from any loans. The government of Dominica has nothing to do with loans in this program.
“So again it was misinformed, but just to make sure and guide to be aware of the things that are taking place here and be aware of some of the folks out there who are bent on derailing your own programs as young people,” he stated.
Speaking on behalf of the prime minister to graduates of the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT), McInyre urged graduates to be aware of persons who are trying to stop the funds that are being used to develop their futures.
His comments came in response to OD Brisbane and Sons proprietor Jerry Brisbane’s publication of two letters he (Brisbane) sent to donor countries and organisations, raising concern over what he said was government’s decision to take a $27 million loan to build an “unnecessary” new luxury State House during times of financial crisis.
Another of Brisbane’s letters spoke against “poor tendering practices” by the government on important infrastructural projects.
McIntyre told the graduation ceremony this afternoon at the Fort Young Hotel that government has worked hard to secure these funds to develop the country.
“Over the last couple of days you may have heard a lot of criticism coming on the government by basically one foe. We have to be very careful, the very same resources that we have been going out there really bridging the gap negotiating with our friendly government. There are folks out there who are really bent on trying to create problems for you and I want you to be aware of that,” he said.
“ There are letters that were written recently to the European Union, to Chinese governments in reference to government’s reckless spending of money but this is the same money that they are referring to here to support you the young people in terms of business opportunities. And I want you to take note of that,” he advised.
The minister added, “When these folks go out there and write to foreign governments you know, talking about government’s reckless spending of money, it is from friendly governments to assist our young people in the challenges being faced today. Some of these very countries… that he has written to they are facing their financial difficulties as well too.”
Some of the anti government Dominican are just stuck at the ALLEGATION STAGE and can see no further than their ALLEGATION NOSE. Year after year, day after day these people speak allegation upon allegation, now even their language is allegation and their perspiration stink of allegation.
They are so doped with their homemade allegation brew that they CAN’Tread and understand Jerry Brisbane’s infamous letters as decumented evidence of treason against the nation. The allegation cabal live in fantasy land beyond beyond and not in the reality of dominica.
@ Truth, Justice, Love, Peace and Unity, well why wouldn’t he talk to Dominicans in Dominica and answer their questions, and why would he disrespect to the point of almost using profantities when members of the diaspora ask him questions in Dominica… Well the business he is conducting overseas is to ensure that he stays in touch with his diasporan ” VOTERS ” so he can transport them dowen to Dominica to vote again. This man is a fraud therefore all his actions become suspect. PERIOD!
@disgusted:
Taken bold steps! are you serious? I must remind you that we’ve been told “is not our damn business where labour getting it money, go to hell, go to hell, go to hell” and before you start saying that the comments were directed at Lennox Linton, do please remember that Mr. Linton is a citizen of The Commonwealth of Dominica and as such is entitled to respect. This government has shown a total lack of respect for the citizens of the country, and especially so after the 2009 election. The young PM and his supporters seem to think that the 18-3 victory, stolen as it was, gives them the right to ignore the rest of the population or somehow gives them the carte blanche to do as they please.
What is Dominica becoming? I man who employs many Dominicans is requesting transparency. An unelected Minister in the government that do not employ a soul, is telling Dominicans do not shop at the man’s business.
Every citizen have a right to ask for clarification of how the country is managed. That’s a DEMOCRATIC right of ALL. It’s a right that transcend political stripes.
Discrediting a JOB creating citizen for making sure democracy works. What is the meaning of democracy again? I thought it meant for the people, by the people, about the people…and so on.
I question I was wrong!
@The Guard:
As Prime Minister of Dominica, he was invited to the Dominica Associations functions. He did not take it upon himself, to invite himself. I see nothing wrong with that.
Prime Ministers of the world, when invited as well travel to different countries, even foreign lands and non-democratic ones at that to conduct their business. It is not all work and no play if you know what I mean.
As P.M., he is able to directly speak to Dominican nationals who reside abroad. There was a purpose in his visits and not just to have a good time. Note the difference and cease your criticisms.
@Is that so?:
Tell us about the bin BOBOL!
CLEAR DE AIR ON THE TREATY M.O.U.
FREEDOM DISAPPEARED, UWP IS VANISHING
LABOUR IS GOING,
WE ARE COMING!
TAKE A GOOD NOTE. TOO MUCH CORRUPTION HERE
The Minister’s Quote,”Luckily today……..” Was the minister afraid that the response would have been different?
So Tom and Jerry owns www. calypsobayresort s. com in St Kitts….why didn’t he do this in Dca
I wonder if DNO would release information indicating persons with the same IP address with repetive comments. It is understood that at least three(3) persons just keep changing their names and making numerous posts against the Govt. Shame on persons trying to duplicate the perception of the wider public.
what is dominica turning to where does a an individual gets the authority to write donor countries in order to blind side the government,like he is speaking for the masses, i see that as a form treason and should be addressed as that.
Most people using this site makes me depressed. Stop people and think of all you people giving such a bad impression of the country. Jerry saying one thing and Charles the next and all the back and forth is just a big pappy show. Everyone should come together and show some love and unite or else the nine volcanoes we have will get upset and start to get hiccup and belch and all of us will be runnoing soukou…so what exhale and take a deep breath and let bygones be bygones and move to the next level or upstairs. We all live in glass houses but we all want to throw stones. Is a good thing is perspects I using.
The Universal Declaration of HUMAN RIGHTS indicates clearly that people of any country have the RIGHT, at any time or whenever they choose, to COMMUNICATE, SPEAK, WRITE on any issue, once what they talk or write about is not libelous, derogatory, or cursing anybody. That Declaration, to which Dominica is a signatory, also gives people the RIGHT to seek, request, and receive information. The CONSTITUTION of Dominica stipulates that a citizen has those same RIGHTS to Communicate with anyone in whatever form he chooses.
Many, many people all over the world do exercise those RIGHTS. However, Many, many genuine people concerned about corrupt practices and BAD GOVERNANCE, or immoral behaviour or theft of Public funds by Govt. Officials, who have spoken or write about those things have been beaten, jailed, killed, ostracised, demonised, especially in undemocratic, dictatorial countries. Even in countries that are termed ‘Democratic’ label their citizens as unpatriotic for expressing themselves in a civil manner on issues of national importance.
Even when citizens criticise constructively, their ideas are sensible and would suggest feasible alternative ways of doing things, they are pressured, savaged, ridiculed, and cast aside.by Political Directorates. Their family, business and friends are attacked. Many Dominicans, unfortunately, harbor deep hatred for people who dare speak about corruption, or misuse of people’s money, or lack of TRANSPARENCY or ACCOUNTABILITY with regards to National projects.
Why such outrage and irresponsible, wicked behaviours in our beautiful land? Why should any citizen accept or condone wrong doings irrespective of who does them? Why should some always defend those who are engaged in corrupt practices to the detriment of an entire nation? Why should any sane persons defend by all means possible those in Public Office who are bent on acquiring massive wealth through secret, controversial deals?
Nowhere in Jerry’s letter to the foreign countries, is he asking that those countries should not give assistance, financial or otherwise to Dominica. Nowhere in those letters. NOWHERE. So why the twist and outright lies. Do those persons have something to gain from doing that? Don’t you all think such people are extremely selfish, arrogant and have no love for communities of people? SPEAK THE TRUTH. ANSWER ME FRANKLY..
BOYCOT BRISBANE JERRY IS ONLY SERVING HIS SELFISH INTEREST
@Ron: Brother you are the one that is the MORON go and find work or go and create a job for yourself instead of depending on other COUNTRIES or the region ,.
have you ever thought that if we do not get money from the International region that you as well as others will find ways of providing for their families so why not start doing that instead of waiting for hand outs
@Is that so?: That’s what I mean every one that disagree with the GOVT is from the UWP let me educate you you a wrong the people who are commenting are folks who have an education and common sense they do not have popcorn as brain just like you, brother everything is not about party or politic it have to do with love of our ISLAND and not matter whoever speaks out folks like you just cannot think for yourself therefore it will fall on deaf ear and that is sad becasue being ignorence is not better.
I hope you have provided for your children long after you have left this earth if not they will be the ones paying for what you held so dearly your stupidity I would suggest you get with it.
@Ron: ok you’r right i agree with you 100%. so shouldn’t the government be adressing this by showing the public tht they are taking the necesary measures to restore the public’s faith in them. for all i know thy could have pocketed 30% of the money from each project. it’s easy to do you know.(lack of transperancey) but i guess time will tell because in other to get away with this one must have coconspirators and one day something will slip.
but wht the hell even if somthing slips this is da, nothing will be done anyways. so jerry let them people do thier stuff.
HE WHO HASTE TO GET RICH QUICK WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED.
WHERE ARE THE CHURCHES AND PLACES OF WORSHIP IN ALL THIS SERIOUS DISCUSSIONS. DON’T THEY REALIZE THAT THERE CONCREGATION MEMBERS WORK AND SHOP AT BREEZE MART? COME OUT MY PEOLE AND CONDEMN THIS DIVISIVE SAVERIN MAN.
“BOY COLIN BOY, I WARNING YOU!!!!” DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND IN FIRE FOR SKIRRITT AND CHARLES SAVERIN!!! THESE GUYS DID NOT TELL YOU WHEN THEY WERE PULLING JUMBIE TAIL!! SO NOW YOU CANNOT JUMP IN AND TRY TO JUSTIFY THEIR ACTIONS!! BE WARNED!!
@Chief: well like you daid before….if the cap fits….i wouldn’t have given it any attention myself but if i am nervous about something………………..
@Tee: whomever you are you done miss the boat……………see you behind time
@Charri: Only in Dominica you will find an individual getting involved with the management of Island resource, to the point of writing letters to friendly partners of a governing body and is ignorant enough to think that there would be no after effects to his company. Particularly since those letters were written on Company Letterhead.
In North America this would financial sucide. It would be a natural course of event that persons who are not in support of that point of view would naturally avoid that place of business.
In this case the unfortunate thing is that the Minister advised persons not to shop at that place of business. He should just left persons to make their own decision.
Yes he attends functions but in the diaspora, he was in Canada with his entourage last month, and he was in NJ with his entourage last Sunday celebrating Mass with Dominicans. This foolishness that going on in Dominica, will cme to the end.. No lie can live forever! I need to be able to pick up my Dominican flag again because this people who are representing Dominica have caused me to put it away. I can no longer be a proud Dominican when my country in this state of chaos and moral degradation…
@success: You know not what you speak friend. Be very careful what you ask for…Try to think things over and do a complete analysis, or a logical assessment,of your thoughts, before you say anything.
The press is a very,very important and essential establishment,for accurate news and information,that is very beneficial to you and I….It is a medium where we get, or access our information. Accurate information is very essential to the operation of our daily lives…..Trust me, without the press,we would all be in the dark…..Freedom of the Press is absolutely necessary,and very important…..It is all part of our great Democracy………..
If you believe the Govt.man was speaking the truth,..please, think again.
All the best to you….and……
Peace profound!!
Are there going to be rooms in the palace for these young graduates to create employment for themselves and others?
Are there going to be rooms stockpiled with food and moneyfor those people J. Gabriel will be sending home by Christmas?
Are there going to be offices in the palace for the representatives of those of us who lost their security when British America went bankrupt? Will they then come and fight for us?
Are there going to be rooms where the government will meet with Domlec and ask them to give business owners a break?
Is there goin gto be a room where they are going to tell the banks the interest they are charging poor people and the profit margins they are trying to make is ridiculous and obscene?
Will there be an agroprecessing plant in the yard?
THEN BUILD THE PALACE
As a concerned citizen I agree with Brisbane for his inquiries. Dominicans are too much of a mouthy nation and do not know how to walk the talk. The letter from the ECU says nothing except that they do not grant loans but release grants. And I do not expect their response to be any different. I do not excpet them to not give us aid because of one letter. These organisations operate despite who is in government. But at least they know how we the people feel since the people who should don’t want to know.
Interestingly enough – as the Trade Minister addressed the youth – he didn’t spell out the legacy of what the corruption will do for their future – and their childrens futures. This 27 million will be a bane on the backs of our children, their children, their childrens childrens legacy in DA.
Its funny how Jerry’s letter has been taken totally out of context. There is nowhere in any of his letters where he asked for aid to be stopped, though this government is hell bent in spinning Jerry’s letters out of context to justify the continued lies that are emanating from high places.
Lastly, I’d love to see evidence of the so called responses from these financial institutions. But I guess this will not happen. The same with knowing who has the real possession of the villas
I am and have been a Labourite and I don’t aim to switch sides. I am also from Roseau and I shop by Astaphans and Whitchurch and Shillingford etc. But I will make it a point of duty to go and shop by Brisbane’s as a matter of principle whenever I can.
The leadership that Charles Savarin offers when he calls for a boycott of Brisbane’s business is shallow, mischievous, petty, divisive. It is not even shortsighted, because shortsightedness can have a mitigating factor. Savarin’s call for a boycott does not. It is greedy, selfish and low. It does not fit the dignity and statesmanship that the Labour Party must at all times hold to standard.
Calling a man a traitor because he was within his right to make an inquirey show two things about this government: They were threatened by Mr. Brisbanes honest inquiry which proves that there IS something going on, AND any minister who goes to such a length to discredit, destroy and burn a man for acting within his rights is not a advocate of democracy. Actions like this however are more known in the Communist arena.
@freddy: I get your point but what if the letters were taken seriously and all fundings were to come a hault for a few months or years of investigation? The consequencies would be unemplyments in the hundreds, if not the thousands. Think about that…..
The “Labour Party BIGWIGS” you talk about is just talk on the street, as usual. Tape them and put them on the internet for all to hear and I will believe you. Saverin’s comments were extreme but so was Jerry’s letters.
@sssssssssssssooooooooooooooooo: oops i meant verify
give me a break. this letter means absolutely nothing. all this letter is saying is that the government of domimnica is giving the donor countries the doucuments that they need. how are they suppose to validate everthing?
Oh my God. dominicns need to be educated. i wonder how many dominicans have a high school education. any body with half a brain will know that this letter from the dornor countries don’t mean a damn thing. how are they supposse to know that the entire moneys was spend only on the construction of the airport. it is so damn easy to steal money in such intsances . all you need is two people colaborating together who want to get rich quick and i don’t think this is hard to find.
democracy is also an entrance to mental slavery when its over used. A line has to be drawn who gives one the right to bypass the countrys administration to get to foreign ones. Wrong is wrong n right is right in every sense of the way too Mr brisbane..U should have taken bold steps to get answers from ur gov’t rather than this madness which u have created.i would think because of ur high morale n sense of accountability that u would have written a similar letter to your gov’t before these foreign agencies.. thats the right thing.. Whatever ur motives were. it sure wasnt to make governance in dominica look good so what implications did u think this was going to have on the country? Mr Mcintyre u didnt have to be so detailed about the obvious at a graduation ceremony Point blank Mr brisbane that was not necessary. Soon every body will want to be rebels in this place because they dont agree with another now this will be democracy..
Collin boy,ole JohnMc must be turning in his grave,am ashamed of u…..family friend
Why is it that the government is giving Jerry’s letters so much attention? Don’t they know that donor countries and international donor agencies do not depend on individual opinions when deciding whether to donate aid or not? Well, of course if you have the credibility and influence of someone like Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma or Mandela during the Apartheid era, the you will be given serious consideration. You think Jerry’s letter ever made it to a boardroom for serious discussion? Hardly. So in essence this whole letter writing thing was a grand waste of time.
This whole thing is getting attention only in Dominica and will have absolutely no impact on donor countries or agencies.
So why did the Doc did not tell them which of the countries that felt government was trustworthy? He said je had just read a letter confirming their faith in the government; why didn’t he give the name of the country instead of waisting so much time on Brisbane. I guess the letter must have come from either Venezuella or China and that would not be unusual. Instead of trying to get these young graduates to turn against Brisbane, the minister and goverment on a whole should encourage these young people who graduated from a business school to follow Brisbane’s example and become business owners who can create jobs for nationals rather than taking money from a country, like Charles Savrin
@Charri: Miss Charri, you must understand the implications of do taking such actions. When Mr. Brisbane write to the donnor countries complaining of the govt. lack of transparency, is he suggesting that these countres should tell govt how they should conduct their business. Should determine if a presidental residence or a school should be built in order to give a grant.
It was before your time that The then leader of the opposition wrote the U.S. govt to protest against the army starting construction of an international airport during the time of mamo. To this day we are without one. If we had gotten help then, chances are all D/cans would be benefitting today regardless of who gained politically at the time.
Be careful what we ask for.
Success you are so right. There is to much freedom of press in Dominica. Some Educated people in Dominica makes Education feel Like it is a disgrace. They are making a mess on radio news papers ect. People let Dominica be a place where peace prevail. It is just a fight fight for power. i am fed up with it. I live out of Dominica. bye bye to radio on internet and DNO. It is sad to so sad to listen to Dominica.
@Sideliner – Before you spill the ignorance from your belly through your mouth get your facts straight. The PM was not on any cruise when hurricane hit. And he was hard at work here in Dominica during this function. Is it the man you want to see or the message you want to hear?
@Karkabeff: But you are are real kaka beff (cow shit) for true eh? Complete waste of time you blue idiots who constantly bombard DNO with your venomous attacks against the government. Think this is going to get you guys back in power? Think again. Just a total waste of time, just as the charade of people like Brisbane, Lennox et al. No serious, pariotic Dominicans take you fools seriously!!!!!
@Big-Bannan: Big Banana YOU CANNOT READ YOU ARE ILLITERATE. Get the news paper and have your sister cousin read for you! Now where is the letter saying don’t give us funds, rather it points out the problem with accountability and spending, in a nutshell. I mean come on! Are you people really carrying this on in broad daylight, the letters are in BOLD LETTERS IN BLACK AND WHITE. I getting sick of these damn illiterates
I must be BLIND, deaf and dumb,because I read those letters in the Chronicle, upside down, I turn them I twist them, and I AM YET TO READ ANYTHING SAYING DON”T GIVE FUNDS TO DOMINICA!!!!!. SO what the hell is going on in DA? Somebody tell me please. Unless St. Jean retest all English teachers on the island, because Dominicans cannot read, it seems. This is ridiculous man, this is a clear witchunt on Mr. Brisbane.This has to stop! Then again, those ministers in Governmnent have no common sense, just talking garbage every time the media gives them a chance. Imagine washed up ex- Freedom party minister callling for sabotage of the man’s business. AH CHIEN give me a break man!!!
There is too much freedom of the press in dominica.
I have to express dissatisfaction with the people who continue to say what Jerry did was wrong. To me he is a citizen of Dominica and as such that gives him the right to open his mouth or speak out when something is unclear! As to if his motives were political or for the interest of Dominica, i am unsure however this is a beneficial thing for Dominicans. We do need transparency from this and every other government – something we have never had.
More Dominicans should take similar stands or the same stands and be concerned about whats going on.
Do we know what our government has given away in exchange for a few millions from Venezuela and china and the others?
I think Jerry inquiring is a good thing and he is within his rights as a citizen. I am an 18 year old and can realise that, why cant the adults see past their political affiliation?
way to go dr. mc….our government is doing a great job in spite of the odds and the negatives! continue the good work, head above the water.
Just a bunch of elected liers that running that country but i believe that deliverance will come . and it is coming you know. Just watch.
@sideliner:
oh please de man a break. Where was Bush when Katrina hit? On a golf course in Florida. De man have to service himself eh eh…my flag is flown wherever i go it has to do with negative people like you or what Skerrit or Jerry do…shame on you
Breaking news.
Jerry has just disclosed on Q95 that he is seeking an apology from those who misrepresented his letter and that he has reserved for himself the right to sue – up to Privy Council for his good name. when prompted he said that he will go beyond where Matt stopped – no mediation. He does not want any money, just his name. What was Jerry’s real motive when he wrote the letters? obviously, based on the content of his discussions on radio this past 10 months, Jerry has cited inumerable instances as he says about mismanagement of the copuntry’s resources. He has submited time and time again that there is corruption in government (Soufriere sea wall, Under power wall etc etc). To backup his case he even brought an engineer on his program. Those letters were written against that background.
So what was the real motive and what response did he expect. It is fair to conclude that Jerry expected the organizations and government to respond to him and signal their intention to “suspend” assistance until he is satisfied that the systems he is satisfied with has been put in place toprevent the “real possibility of the Prime Minister and his friends wasting the money of tax payers”. What would such a situation have on the economy of Dominica including the business palce of O.D Brisbane & Sons in the short to medium term? That would be an interesting case. here we go again. Should we cite Mr. Brisbane’s intention to sue as another attempt this time by a private citizen to stifle Freedom of expression? Mr. Brisbane has spoken and he has written. the responders are now threatened on Q95 to be sued.
lol and the story continues
but all you where was the pm when they launced the accreditation board?
i thought he was all for education/
mr pm i love you but m y god you can do better
and by the way government must be accountable to the people
jah – of course the minister was bought – just like all the rest of them; notice they all talk
about serving the pm
BUT WHEN DE MONEY FINISH OR THEY FIND OUT WHERE IT COME OUT IS NOW
CARNIVAL START – PAT AARON GET READY TO COMPOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the letters published are the actual letters. I have not seen anywhere Mr Brisbane says DON”T GIVE ASSISTANCE TO DOMINICA. Unless if I can not read plain English I eh see that in the letters.
So you mean the government afraid of Jerry Brisbane. If that’s the case shame on the Graberment. Oh men of litle f
aith.
@sideliner:
Sideliner, You are talking rubbish. We Dominicans in other countries are always PROUD to identify ourselves as DOMINICANS. You must be the one with an identity problem with regards to your nationality. We even proudly fly our Dominican flags in our car…… Thank you!!!!
Jah,
He won his seat. Are you alive or dead
i wish that you ppl could just get off doc back and let the man speak and when the time is right better must come he go let you ppl know about the bins and the fertilize get a life and stop trying to leave in doc shadow.
It is interesting to see how the concerns of one man who speaks his mind becomes a big issue at a graduation ceremony. Securing votes for the next election is very important mr minister but I share the concerns of Mr Brisbane as it relates to spending, I Also think that at this time funds should be utilized for better things.
I was just wondering how this building was going to create jobs and opportunities for these students to excel.
It would be nice to know which financial institutions responded to the letters and the content of the letters.
This was not the time and place for that speech. Collin this was a graduating class of business men an women. Tell these people how the government can help them or what can they do to survive and expand with a small business. Telling them about letter is nit no concern of theirs. Did some of you people read the letter that Jerry wrote? He did not say stop give Dominica money. He said to the people that they must ask for documents as to how the monies are spent.
Doc, please stop your nonsense!
I understand you having to sing for your supper but pick your battles carefully my friend. Now, why didn’t you take the opportunity and explain to the folks the importance of following proper procurement procedures and admitting we messed up when we do things wrong? I wonder why you did not even tell them when the rest of the BINBOBOL and Fertilizer money will be in the treasury so it can be used to assist is furthering their education. What a waste of a good man! Hail Mary Full Of Grace……………
Mcintyre I did not realise that you are as foolish as Skerrit, what a shame. It must be China or Venezuala, two countries desperately looking for friends in the international community to try to make themselves look legitimate that would support this MAD government.
@oh really: Don’t forget we/us Dominicans have a problem with mainstream reality: We still do not believe that Catholic Priests molest children, even if reports show that 99% of Catholic priests sent to Third World countries may be taken away from home for that same reason. Why would Colin claim to have seen letters that Brisbane wrote if he had in fact not seen them? Just like the priest phenominom. Think…
I am not a fan of Skerit and his Government but i do NOT suck-up to the Bribaines either!
This is just too sickening. Where is the vision? Nothing to bring hope to these graduates. If Brisbane had not written to donor countries you would have nothing to bring about hope and stir up vision to these kids? Come on Mr. McIntrye! You are a doctor. Stop having these kids depending on Donor countries. You are addressing you kids who are graduating from business school. Motivate them to become entreprneurs. You cannot have them depending on China and Venezuella again. You guys are behaving like little girls seeing their perod for the first time. What we need in Da is political healing and stop zeroing on those things that divide us as a people. Encourage them to be like Brisbane who has over a hundred nationals employed and not to be like Charles Savrin who has never employed anyone and is depending on singing for his supper
@Big-Bannan:
I agree with you 100% on that one!
@Ron:
Interesting comment from you considering that I heard some Labour Party BIGWIGS in conversation and they were not as happy as you are about Charles Savarin’s comment. Unfortunately they do not have the balls to come out and say so publicly.
Just imagine, if Jerry Brisbane’s businesses were to colapse, the fifty or sixty employees that depend on him for a livelyhood, could Charles Savarin employ one of them? Could the labour Party (and I say Labour Party not the Government) employ one of them? We need to get the place where we can tell the persons we elect (unfortunately Charles was not elected by anybody) when they have erred. I will say alot about the maturity or lack thereof of our democracy.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT..
This was a speech to graduates? The tone sounds more like a political campaign.
Tell the graduates the programs available to them. Like what job opportunities is available to them. Talk about the future. What are the programs the government have to stimulate job creation and financing? Keep the politics out of it.
Too much of that speech is about fear and dependency. Just remember, the only person that can do IT for you is YOU!
@sideliner: Talk for yourself, all Dominican I meet in the USA are proud Dominicans and we will wave our flag all the time so I don’t know who you talking bout
@sideliner:
You are most likely talking about about your unpatriotic self and not the typical proud Dominican out there who will go to great lenghts to acknowledge their Dominican roots.
People like you and “TOM an JERRY” are real comics looking at every opportunity to make life difficult for Dominica for their own selfish political purposes.If our funding dries up where will the local people get money to support his business? In our race to be critical we need to reflect on Jerry’s letter writing and condemn that kind of TREASON. It is a shame that one can stoop so low in his hate for one man.
How many of you critics and slanderers know the Ten Commandments of God? From childhood all of us learned them. Refer to your Holy Bible:
Here is one which pertains to this article and other similar articles:
The VIII Commandment of God – Eighth – Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Commands: truthfulness, respect for the good name of others, the observance of secrecy where
required.
Forbids: lying, injury to the good name of others, slander, talebearing, rash judgment,
contemptuous speech, and the violation of secrecy.
Dominicans in general are Christians as their parents and ancestors. For God’s sake you who are Christians and practicing ones at that cease slandering your PM’s good name and also calling Colin McIntyre a liar.
Live by the Golden Rule as Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us: “Do unto others as you have them do to you.” Place yourself in their position. In the end we will answer to Our Lord for all what we have done and failed to do, one way or the other.
I have noted that if some of you do not agree with what is written you brand the writer and also insult him/her. Cease this evil action. Have you forgotten that God who knows, sees and hears all things is taking note of your words as imbedded in your heart and mind?
If you love Dominica, please do something good for Dominica. Uplift it and enhance it. Help the youth and encourage them to do good for their sake and that of society.
If you object to certain matters, the appropriate action to take is to write the concerned people respectfully. It is inappropriate to utilize unbecoming language on a Media Website. Speak your truth but do so, I reiterate respectfully. God will be pleased with this type of gesture and will bless and grace you for this.
I reside in another country and I am an advocate, be it a silent one as writing the government and the Media when the occasion calls for it. I speak my truth but at no time do I disrespect them and utilize common and slanderous language to them. In time I do receive a response be it from the government. This is exercising freedom of speech but respectfully. You will be respected for the type of language which you utilize.
The Media as in the US who have blogs that viewers can comment, more often than not my blog makes it and is retained on their Website. If I wrote unbecoming language and what which is not relevant to the topic my writing will never make it to their blog.
Always speak the truth but do so respectfully. Be gracious also in words. You will be a happy and peaceful person for it.
May God bless and grace you to see the light, His light and expectations of us.
dominica wont move forward in any postive way….DLP regime is way too corruputed and they lie to keep the people in the dark….sadly but true many dominicans are brilliant in discussing issues they get too personal…
Jerry did the right thing and many should follow his footsteps because DLP keeps everything secret the Deals with china and alba citizens in dominica are so damm ignorant if they are going to be sold tommorow in exchange for water they will say thank god for the Prime Minister…

I find it apauling that Brisbane would go at length, take his time to write letters to Dominica’s Donor countries trying to prevent the Government from getting aid. If Brisbane really did that i find him rude and out of place. Do you agree?
Crabs in a barrel….. Dominican politicians.
Why are Antiguans, Barbadians etc can travel to any European coutries without a visa for ninty days and we can’t?
Whilst you guys are fighting for the crumbs other caribbean governments are making life easier for its citizens…
Do you guys know that jerry brisbane and all the clang are green card holders?

Since that man become the prime Minister of Dominica he never attend s functions unless its election time. Just like when the hurricane was coming he took a cruise ………………..I just have to wonder what has gone wrong with Dominicans……Am i talking about Dominicans?????? that is a country people dont even want to identify with ……and when Dominicans in public functions overseas they fly other countries flag and not the Dominica flag because they do not know where they stand. shame and disgrace.
Jerry Brisbane has lost focus. His campaigned against the PM is quickly falling apart. I hope he reads the responses from these friendly governments on the Matt show. I wonder if he realizes if these funds were to be cut off that Dominicans would not have money to support his business. What a moron. I’m happy that Charles Saverin called him out because we should not take these letters lightly. Jerry’s letter was an insult to the country. Fortunately for DA, no one is listening to JERRY the mouse.
this was a graduation ceremony, do you have any advice for them…shame on you Doc.
you have been bought, did you win your seat or you were placed?
