Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Lennox Linton, has called for a number of things which he said will improve the lives of people living in Dominica.

The party held an event dubbed “1,000 Patriots March” on Thursday afternoon, against what it said is injustice in Dominica.

“The people of Dominica are saying to Mr. Skerrit we want electoral reform, we want justice, we want jobs, we want work to be done to improve the lives of farmers in this country, workers in the private sector, workers in the public sector, we want our agriculture to start showing signs of vibrancy, we want our young children to be protected,” he stated.

He said there are a number of people who do not like what is going on in the country.

“It is important that the government understands that there are a number of people from different parts of the country that do not like a number of things going on in the country in terms of the pace of growth in the economy, the delivery of jobs to the poor people of this country, the standard of living…,” Leader of the UWP Lennox Linton said during an interview.

According to him a number of supporters are upset over the state of the National Hospital in Marigot and the lack of adequate provision in the Budget of 2016/2017 for there to be a new hospital at Marigot.

During the event, supporters and members of the party marched from Lindo Park, Goodwill to Roseau singing songs and waving placards that read, ‘Where all De $ Go?’, ‘Bring Back Agriculture Enuf is Enuf’, ‘Corruption Kills’, ‘Enough is Enough’.

Mr. Lin ! here is a tip for you, In as much as we would like a change but THE pm put you in a circle, he has diplomatic relations with 110 different countries and you are against them all, so in time of help who do turn to? Edison James really set a trap for you and you are hooked. One thing you forget to mention is to expand the stock Farm Prison, because we have a system, rules, guidance and procedures and of course the long arm of the law.

    Dear Mr Linton
We will never get election reform, some will get justice and some will get jobs. The only solution is to vote them out and the only way we can do that is with help from our brothers and sisters overseas. I am thus calling on the Party to start raising funds so we can aassist our people overseas to come down to vote too.

Great….Labour Party and their leaders must not be seen to corrupt or manipulate the electoral system. There are too many questions to be asked, one of them is the independence of the Chair and members of the Electoral Commission that their positions are not corrupt or influence by any politician sitting in government now, from corrupted top to bottom, if there is, that need to be resolved with independent people loyal to the cry of decency in the process towards good and accountable government. People and politicians’ involved or engaged in electoral fraud in the past 15 years should be picked up and hunted just like a man who abusers a young child for favours rendered. Despicable.

I think that time can be use to do better things for the country, look at the faces they all need help but they must first help themselves first.
people can not and must not depend on now government for job, The Role of Self Acceptance is being creative involves an attitude of receptivity and self acceptance.

Whenever you give rise to a thought, almost straight after, an element of judgment sometimes comes in. ‘Good’ or ‘bad’, ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, ‘nice’ or ‘horrible’.

Sometimes this process is so quick you don’t even notice the space between the thought that comes up and the judgments that follow. You might not even be aware of the thoughts themselves.

For some people, this element of judgment, especially when unnoticed, can stifle expression. Ideas are stillborn. Projects never get further than a spark that is snuffed by their inner critic.
LET US MOVE THE COUNTRY FORWARD………..

Such an ignorant comment. Yes Marigot people stand for truth, justice, integrity and all that belongs to them and others in Dominica as per their constitution. Yes Marigot people will lead the troops on the battle field to defend their village, their country, their homes. Marigot people will stand up and fight for what is right. BUT GUESS WHAT…..Marigot people will not climb the stairs to that red clinic……. Marigot people will continue to prosper, they will continue to rise above the rest….. Marigot people will continue to set standards that people for the likes of you will not be able to meet, not now or in the near future.

All good things for one to want for his country. Can’t imagine anybody not wanting these things. But would these not be things best achieved by both parties around the table (so to speak) rather than by one party in the street :?:

By the crowd it is obvious people cannot resist the chance to squeeze the last drop of political opportunity out of the occasion and give the PM a bash into the bargain.

Nobody can say Dominica is a boring place to live!

Why would the leader of the opposition call a demonstration during the budget debate? My best guess is that he is getting ready to beg his poor followers for Pinard Byrne’s money!!!

The next event should be in the North yes a 300 jobs match to the Morrocan Hotel culminating in a picnic at Belle Hall beach to see the environmental disaster taking place there with yet another hotel project. We can follow that up in the next couple weeks with an excursion to the geo thermal plant to view the results of our 60 million dollar investment gone tonothingness..

Doing nothing tangible just having a set of persons who understands nothing but gossip, slander, rumors, negatives, unappreciations, ungratefulness etc. Go right, they go right. Have never thought to learn or understand procedures. They are like sheep. One can clearly see that this Man is only concerned to seat on the PM seat. I would let him seat for one day. Lennie you need to stop that nonsense. Apparently you seem to be only a journalist. You need to go back to school to study about becoming a PM.

To those following like ….. have you not seen any good in what is done I the country?… stop being negative. Negative make one bitter and then bitterness leads to hatred. Time to finish with all that rubbish. Time to love your country and countryman. Bonjour toute moune sur le marche. Pathetic.

Lenox Linton, you are the epicenter of laziness. Was there ever a hospital in Marigot? Do you really want to talk about agriculture in Dominica? Just who are the vendors in the Roseau market! The Haitians are now in full control of the market, and making a decent living that they go to western union weekly to send money to Haiti. Look on the other hand when a cruise ship is in port to every 500 passengers, you have 501 tour buses. Hackling and disrespecting the passengers. The red herring that you are throwing out is only a smoke screen in order to call for money to pay your legal bills. If you keep your base energize you tend to gain. Take a look at the news, over and over we are seeing young people graduating from institution of higher learning. What have you done to improve peoples’ lives? You are the private sector, how have you elevate the suffering of the people you so care about? On a daily basis you run around Roseau like a headless chicken. Please LL get your diploma.

So the Leader of the Opposition is showing what kind of example? The man is supposed to be working in Parliament learning while listening and observing the workings of the House discussing the contribution of the members of Parliament debating the budget.

The Budget of 2016/2017 and the man doing toback trying to lead a million man match in a country with less than 80,000 men, women and children. Telling our children that it is okay by his actions not to show up for your job and match in a peaceful country, calling for jobs while leaving his own job?

The members of the Parliamentary Opposition should tell him if he does not like his job, he should quit. Because this is a bad example he is displaying to our young people. Imagine expecting to get paid for not showing up to work without a valid reason. If it is a person in the private sector you would lose your job. Can salaries be deducted from parliamentarian who does not show up to work? Madame Speaker?

Making a call for reform is excellent, however how are we actually going to get there. What small initiatives have Mr Linton and others taken to create employment, assist their community development or help inject some vibrancy back into agriculture?

We always have symposiums and meetings, where are the expositions and attachments? Where is the willingness to accept opinions from all directions and the passion to move Dominica forward?

Things like this clearly highlight the fact that we are ready for change, however we need to start talking with what matters; OUR ACTIONS!!

Feel free to march and give people mapwi because that what you good for but at least you should be raising funds for the hospital in the Marigot constituency… your constituency!
All these people do is criticize and complain and do nothing.

    • Guy, if all you care about is the Labor Party and Skerrit wining the election, whereas Lennox, and the UWP lost; you are a ….. fool; because jobs, and prosperity are what it is all about. Development, and not receiving a few pennies from some dumb politicians.

Lennox and his supporters have long realized he lost the election, due to Skerrit buying the idiots like you, votes you sell your body, mind and soul to the devil so that the devil could win; however, you and those who took a handout for your votes, are existing in poverty, in a politically and financially bankrupt country!

Check your economic status; and that of Skerrit, and the rest of ministers in his circus, and compare it to your financial status; figure out if you live for a thousand years, if you can ever accumulate the riches that Skerrit and his boys have collected in less than twenty years!

      • How dumb; one man is fighting for prosperity, and justice for all Dominicans; nevertheless; you are so dumb your only concern is Lennox lost the election.

Where is your ambition? Don’t you want a better Dominica, don’t you wish Dominica was as developed as the rest of the islands in the Caribbean. Dominica is the poorest island in the Caribbean, our people live below the third world standard; you live in a country where approximately ninety-eight (98%) percent of all the people in Dominica survives below the world standards of the poverty level.

Since you are in a mood to change the way government and opposition work to develop the country, why don’t you lobby your Labour Party power big wigs to pass a new law giving the opposition permission to collect taxes and fees and other revenue.I guarantee you that the UWP would be more efficient at unitizing the money also it would be transparent with the Dominican people as to how the money collected is spent.
