United Workers Party (UWP) candidate for the St Joseph constituency, Monelle Williams has said she plans to move the constituency from poverty to prosperity.

Addressing UWP supporters at a rally in St Joseph on Sunday, Williams said the state of the constituency is not something she is proud of.

“It is something that I want to change,” she stated.

Part of her plan include the construction of road networks throughout the constituency the completion of the St. Joseph road network and the completion of the Hillsborough to Pond Case road.

She said such projects, “will be completed with majority of job opportunities created for the boys and girls of this constituency.”

Williams said farmers will be subsidized and provided with access to land.

“Markets will be identified and St Joe, we will give you that market that you were promised fifteen years ago,” she said.

She also has plans for housing.

“We will recondition the housing revolution; we will make it into something you can be proud of,” she noted. “We want proud home owners of the 1,500 houses that will be built in the first three years. My constituency will benefit from over 50 of those.”

A fisheries complex and a hurricane shelter will be come a reality, she said.

Williams said housing for residents of Belles will be made available under her watch.

“The days of plywood in the wet area are over,” she said. “You will get an expansion on your health centre. We will upgrade your school to ensure that you have a proper wall so that your children can want to go to school and feel safe and secure. We will give you additional classrooms because that noise pollution is preventing our children from being the best that they can be.”

Williams stated further that art, music and culture will also be restored to its rightful place, “as we build a music studio in memory of music icon, Jeff Joseph.”

Williams will face Kelver Darroux of the Dominica Labour Party in the December 8 general election.

all politicians wants the best for their constituency. The question is what are the plans she has to better things. saying she wants things to change is the norm so I would love to hear the plans. And if the woman cries like a baby and cant manage a little fire then how is she gonna perform in parliament when all the dirty laundries are brought out even there? may the best man win come election day.

Talk is cheap. Monell does the same like Linton lift other people’s work without crediting the source. Monell is weak, cries for everything, not good for a politician especially one who claims to be strong for women. Mothers cry when necessary most times you don’t even see or hear them cry, because they are strong and they stand tall, they hold down the fort when the rest of the family is down and crying. Think of your own mothers those of you who have strong mothers, did she cry or did she console you why you did the crying? Food for thought.

U must be jesus. He is the only only who moves things honey! Your statement sounds well scripted… I do not take part in politics , I check the news, and when I see something that I do not agree with, I make my comment, so political people, attacking me for my opinions is wasting your time. save your energy…

She said such projects, “will be completed with majority of job opportunities created for the boys and girls of this constituency.”
referring to your constituents as boy and girls is an obvious sign of a superiority complex. All she will deliver is fresh breast milk for the boys and girls and use her tears to to drown them in her sorrow.

Besides a Govt funded music studio (to directly compete with those that exist in the private sector) hat really is the change here?
    1. Continue the same road project that DLP and Darrox plans to do?
    2. Give Farmers land – thought your party was more about letting people work for what they want instead of giving it freely?
    3. Find markets for the people of the constituency to sell what? But, so much for supporting laziness that you don’t encourage them to be more proactive, competitive and find their own markets.
    4. And finally – isn’t that the same housing revolution that is funded by the corrupt, communist, dictatorial partners of DLP. It will be okay now because your constituency will get a fair share (forget who funded it?)

So the change is really just a change of the guards and not the policies, programs, initiatives or financiers (as evil as your party claimed them to be)?

If nothing changes but the name of the Parl rep… why change?

Why do politicians make these kind of statements to the electorate. Let us put the thinking cap on, can Monelle Williams really move St. Joseph from poverty to prosperity.

In comparison to her counterparts in the political arena on both sides, undoubtedly the young lady is a powerhouse. No offence but Ms. Williams is a better public speaker here. Likewise, in the entire UWP’s camp, Lennox Linton is the better speaker by far than anyone else on the team.

I am also highly impressed with that young lady who spoke at La Plaine (I think that she is the President of the women’s arm of the UWP party). Not sure, as I was watching her speak streaming live online. That is a very great feature I must add being able to watch the meetings in the comfort of my home online and not having to run into mayhem across the country. Back to my point, this young lady who spoke in La Plaine is a powerhouse and best I have heard speak so far – she has a bright political future ahead of her.

I am just keeping it real – don’t hate me.

Monelle has responded to a divine call. Chosen and sent for such a time as this. The people have sensed the divine assignment and will respond affirmatively on December 8th. The wind of change is intertwined in her steps. She is loaded with power. She is mounted as an eagle. There is no retreat at this stage.

She looks and speaks like a great Politician.

It would be a travesty, if Ms Monelle is denied the opportunity to shine. I believe that she could be a formidable leader, no disrespect to Mr Skerrit or Mr Linton.

I strongly believe Monelle Williams is a God-sent for the St. Joseph constituency. The incumbent is no match. She continues to demonstrate that she can be a power-house for the town, she’ll bring a sigh of relief to her people and a rainbow of hope to the down trodden. She will ensure that good governance with total inclusiveness is the foundation of the new administration and that creation of jobs, jobs, jobs will be a top priority in the next government.
