Dominica’s Health Minister Julius Timothy says the Opposition’s boycott of parliament is unreasonable.
The Opposition opted not to attend parliament yesterday because they were not supporting a move by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to make resources available for National ID cards, as opposed to Voter ID Cards.
Timothy, who is a former Deputy Leader of the United Workers Party, said the absence of Voter ID Cards was not responsible for the UWP’s defeat at the polls.
“You are staying away from parliament, boycotting parliament, all under the pretext of calling for a voter ID Cards. They (UWP) know that the voter ID Card had nothing to do with their defeat at the last elections. The last election defeat was very clear. They lost over 4,000 votes from the previous elections,” he said.
Timothy said the UWP’s defeat at the polls is primarily because of their lack of appeal to the populace.
Tim is that you now supporting and condoning, nepotism and WRONG DOINGS. Would you Timothy and your ilk advise your child or children not to WASH the DIRTY PLATES in the SINK? BUT that is what you all are implying? The Voters’ List is DIRTY with dead people’s names or those not legible to vote, but do not want to advise your MASSA Skerritt to CLEAN UP the bloated LIST. You are telling the world to let the Voters’ List remain DIRTY election after election after election. That is a RECIPE for Rigging, stealing, cheating, and Fraud in our electoral process.
The real reason why our beloved country has reached that stage of rampant CORRUPTION is because of people like you all, all of you who refuse to see the light in righteousness, honesty, integrity. You all are afraid of Electoral reforms mainly because you all do not want FREE and FAIR Elections in Dominica. It is plain to see from. Allow true Christian, moral, ethical values to bathe your body from head to toe. You all frankly need to do that. The sooner the better for the sake of a peaceful Dominica.
Skerritt, Timothy and the Cabal must believe in FAIR PLAY. Do not tell sportsmen, the youth and others to engage in fair play, to be honest, yet you are showing dishonesty and disrespect for the Constitution and Laws of the Land. There are several examples of that happening Skerritt. There could be NOTHING illegal in providing the finance for the Commission to provide VOTER ID CARDS and to CLEAN UP the VOTERS’ LIST. Skerritt and his blind supporters must realize that it would be in everybody’s benefit and interest. Skerritt should never be allowed to develop that dictatorship style, ruling an entire nation with an iron hand. A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE. Timothy you are an enraged, selfish, double talker. Just the other day you blasted Skerritt and his Govt. as corrupt, now for a few dollars more, you on the side of corruption? Only when the Chinese came you got your blender and micro wave?

Ron Green and Carbon were in Parliament for years and they had their US green card. It was never an issue. All of a sudden they protesting because Skerrit and St. Jean has dual citizenship. Carbon travelled down from USVI to attend Parliament and it was not a problem for them. He was not even living in dominica. This is not a genuine fight. This is a total and complete double standard and this is why I will never support them in this fight.

Dominica has so many foolish people no wonder we are being taken for a ride on a consistent basis. Voter ID cards is not for UWP it is for us Dominicans and if one day another party is in power then the same cards will serve the purpose they are meant to be. While i agree electoral reform is necessary before the next general elections in Dominica,i just cannot understand why the opposition seem so tied to that one issue.Will that alone address the many problems we face in this country? Anyway, I dont know what is all that hoopla the opposition and the governenment have going on there nuh about i.d. Persoanlly, since last election, I said just tell people come with their passports and if they do not have take another form of i.d. I not seein the need to go and make i.d’s just for voting. Is not like people voting every month or even every year. I would tired lose that…..Just use the passport…that is a good way to see if the people were in Dominica were in the last five years too. Go with some kind of i.d man..but dont go spending all that money on new cards. Plus personally, I do not believe that there are many persons if any who vote under false names or dead people’s name… but who knows?

the opposition is staying away from the house because they have nothing to take to the house, no alternatives to present to dominica. this current UWP opposition has failed the people miserably and since they lack the intellectual creativity and human talent which would be required to make a strong presence in the house, they save themselves the embarrassment and stay out instead. the party has only 3 statesmen left RON, EDISON and PREVOST and they’re spent men, exhausted nearing retirement. the other guys including HECTOR are foot soldiers, scandalous mouth pieces, street corner, bay side and rum shop type politicians, they’re just not house bred.

Timothy has no moral authority to tell the opposition to attend parliament. Dominica has seen that Timothy is for Timorthy. He has approved the policy to take the people of Dominica back to the sixties when only Seriens were controlling business in dominica. We must only take up the jobs of Servants and Labourers.

I SKERRIT HAD SO MUCH CONFIDENCE IN THE LOCALS HE WOULD NOT HAVE BROUGHT DOWN THOSE THOUSANDS OF BRIBEES TO STEAL THE ELECTION FOR HIM
Did any of the UWP agents who were present at the various Polling Stations on elections day do anything about “illegal voters” as they are empowered to do? Surely they could not prevent anybody from voting, but they could have challenged them and put them to the oath. That would be the starting point for an electoral challenge. That would have been perfectly legal to do under the legislation. I am told the did nothing of sorts. And in all those years that the UWP has been highlighting (in the media only) the need to sanitize a rather bloated voters list. Has the UWP identifid those names who are not supposed to be on the list and submitted the same of the same to the Electoral Office? What are they waiting for? They claim the list is bloated, there are many names on the list that ought not to be there – that is what they claim. But have they ideintified those names by Constituency, Polling District, Polling Division and made a formal submission to the appropriate authority? I recall Ron green trying something of sorts but raher ended up submitting the name (s) of people who he presumed t be dead, but rather these people were alive and kicking in La Plaine. He admitted his shrtcomings in this regard anyway.
As we are on the “bloated list”. Has the UWP made any provisions in its arguments to cater for those non-resient Dominicans who have been away but have returned several times within the limits of the law? Becausethey do not live here and have beenliving away for 20 years, does the UWP want these people to be removed from the list? By whose authority anyway? Does the UWP belive that everybody who coems here to vote, actually vote for the ruling party? See a technicality. All those Dominicans who returned homw for reunion in 2008 and there names were not removed form the Voters list, they have a right to maintain there names for another five years at least on the Voters list. We should encourage electoral reform, but it must be all encompassing andnot limited to ID Cards. In 2005 the UWP was not interested for example in electoral reform that addressed ‘Campaign Financing”. Simply because there were allegations that the ROC was fiancing their campaign. They are still not interested in that kind of reform.
What am to do with a Voter Card that I can only use at best once every five years, compared to a National ID Card that I can use for a myriad of reasons including identifying myself to the authority on polling day. Does the argument for only a Voter ID Card in a small country like Dominica, strapped for cash resonate with common sense and value for money service? Or does it sit well with the wail of a party that lost badly in the last general elections. But the real motive of the UWP is not to clean up the list, but to really disenfranchise the overseas based Dominicans who they beleive have not bought their program. That is all and that is all.

Funding a housing project in the POUND area is also unreasonable. We need to demolish slum areas in Roseau like Pound, clear the Lots and designate them for Commercial purposes only. We should continue to develop the outskirts and surroundings of Roseau for Residential Housing and Recreational purposes, like Goodwill, Pottersville, Newtown, Citronier, Kings Hill, Fond Cole, Bath Estate, Yam Pit, the Valley, Wall House, Canefield, Castle Comfort, Giraudel, Eggleston, Morne Fortune and so on, Mr Tim.
