Problems will increase if gov’t remains corrupt – Prevost

Prevost

Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Norris Prevost has told party supporters that poverty, unemployment and crime will increase in Dominica or any country if government remains corrupt.

Prevost told a public meeting in Lagoon this week that some problems now affecting Dominica has come about because it is ruled by a corrupt government. He said several projects have gotten underway in Dominica and was never completed.

“The problem of lack of jobs, air access and so many because we have a corrupt government. A government which has corrupted the electoral process and wasting the resources of the state. Over $150 million have been raised for the Layou River Hotel Project and we only have ruins there, at Stock Farm $8 million was spent for a netball stadium and it has been abandoned…” he said.

He said until Dominica comes back to the rule of law and government rejects corruption, unemployment and crime will increase.

Is that we have come to in DOMINICA threats and more threats because other people have fifferent opinions what is going on back there how can we speak about demoocracy something must be done with those who deciide to take the law in their own hands and that’s why we need magistrates like Rosie Douglas ” Son” who is now going around to different communities speaking about crime on the island I applaud him for taking such a stand and that’s why he is reaching out to the youth because he have seen to many of them in his court room, this is the kind of person we need to lay down the law as see fit.
Law and order is what we need in DOMINICA right now or else people will become mute to the rule of law we need a better judicial system on the Island and it is up to the GOVT to make sure the system is working because the people need protection people cannot go around threating other citizens and get away with it.

All you , those UWP people have a new technique these days … they speaking slow to give d impression that is truth they speaking and as if they soooo have good, better and best interest of Dominica at hand!!!

Trouble is that dem man have enough financial stress and as we all in d world recession for some two years now dem man cannot sell their lands for top dollars to bail out themselves so they want to get back in power to control local banks and have their appointed men and women right-off their loans and that of their associates.

They use to criticize Chinese people , but is d same Chinese people that renting their properties to keep them afloat. If things were better they would ah start public protest for Chinese to leave their business places closed. Talk about a twist of irony!!!

Is high time dem man start to speak d truth and tell us straight that they took risk with their businesses to enter politics hoping that things would have been better for them and that Astaphans and Nassief would have been closed down by now and that they would have been king on D Mountain. But instead Astaphans and Nassief started to expand from 1995 and has now overtaken them.

Now dem man zahloo Tim TIM since he holding d strain and trying to keep his businesses afloat despite the many new 7-11s that open in recent times. Although he doh have parking but by d grace of God ACS fighting a tough fight.

LIVING IN ST. LUCIA IS MUCH BETTER THAN IN DOMINICA. IN DOMINICA YOU SPENDING OVER $200 IN GROCERIES AND WALKING OUT THE STORE WITH ONLY ABOUT TWO BAGS, IN ST. LUCIA I SPENT $200 AND NEEDED A TROLLEY TO BRING MY STUFF TO D RIDE. GRENADA WAS DEVASTATED BY A HURRICANE. ST. VINCENT HAS A VERY HIGH DRUG AND CRIME RATE THAT IS CAUSING A LOT OF ISSUES, BUT DOMINICA IS SUFFERING AN INCREASE IN DRUGS AND CRIME WITHOUT EVEN HAVING INCREASED DEVELOPMENT. YOU CANNOT COMPARE DOMINICA TO OTHER PLACES WHEN THEY ARE MORE DEVELOPED THAN OUR COUNTRY. SALARIES IN ST. LUCIA ARE ABOUT 2X OR 3X WHAT WE GET IN DOMINICA FOR THE SAME JOBS.

This is a truthful general statement applicable to any country not just Dominica but all we are asking the opposition to do, is stop with all the rumors and speculation of corruption in Dominica and provide us with some material evidence, some paper with the Ministers and maybe even the PM’s signature which would strongly implicate them in all of what they are accused. Sadly, until they can do so Dominicans will never respect their case or convert their statements from something political to an attempt to restore sovereignty. So please do some proper investigations, provide us with some evidence and then once its credible, we the people will have no choice but to believe because I think some of us are tired of all the speculations.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle BLACK!

Of all people to talk about corruption, the UWP should be the last. What happen they think Dominicans don’t remember when they were in office THE MOST CORRUPT regime in the history of the nature isle.

The UWP came to power, and met the treasury full, the economy growing and Dominica respected across the region… in their short term in office they managed to nearly destroy all that Mamo had built.

Thank God they were only in office for one term or no telling how much damage they could have done.

And thank God for Prime Minister Skerrit and the DLP, who have saved Dominica, the treasury have money again, the economy is growing and Dominica is once again respected across the region and the world.

Prevost – clean up yourself and check the dosage on your med’s, because you talking CRAZY!

He said until Dominica comes back to the rule of law and government rejects corruption, unemployment and crime will increase.

    Mouth of the South

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, “Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above the ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude, and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.”

She rolled her eyes and said, “You must be a Skeritt Labourite.”
“I am,” replied the man. “How did you know?”

“Well,” answered the balloonist, “everything you told me is technically correct. But, I have no idea what to do with your information, and I’m still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help to me.”

The man smiled and responded, “You must be an Edison UWP-rite.”

“I am,” replied the balloonist. “How did you know?”

“Well,” said the man, “you don’t know where you are — or where you are going. You’ve risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You’re in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now, it’s my fault.”

I am not a fan of the UWP operatives but I do agree with Mr Prevost’s statement. Dominica has never experienced such a blatantly corrupt government. I am very much disappointed that even when we are suppose to be more advance in technology, education and communication we remain gullible and easily manipulated by a group of people who care solely about fattening their pockets. I yearn for the days when we were proud Dominicans. Today the country is in destruction. I really hope our people wake up and notice that we have been taken for a ride.

NATURE BOY he might try to blame you for he being on that bus alone. Watch out … I would like to be the chauffeur on that bus so I can give him the tour I promised so you will notice what the advance in Technology, communication and education have been in this country. Guess I will tour the island probably in one day not like when we went on excursion and a trip from the south to say Marigot would take a whole day. To get to another place you had to have another excursion and how enjoyable it was riding at the back of the 3 ton or 1 ton trucks.

By the time I finished giving him the tour around the island, he would be speechless and really repent and say ” I am sorry” Even babies have their own cell phone and I would give him the benefit of using my cellphone to call from all the villages to his loved ones here and overseas – which ever country they are located — You talking about $1,000.00 top up from Lime and Digical. You wanna talk about communications and technology? I would ,make sure my tour with him we would touch all primary, secondary and colleges in the island. Oh my! I may need more than one day since Liar(s) would have to probably say something to the children. Probaly he has not passed on the new bath road bridge and go up the river around the Stadium and up the Bath Estate /St Aroment Road and all the other “communication” link roads.

Pardner I looking forward to the tour with Liar (s) and being his tour guide and Chauffeur. Liar(s) I not allowing you to blame NATURE BOY noh. You will definitely enjoy that tour that I can assure after you will so tired and would really have a fairly rested night and wake up wondering if it was a dream about technology, communication and education.

    • Hey just giving my two cents
      January 20, 2011

Did you listen to yourself – ” I am very much disappointed that even when we are suppose to be more advance in technology, education and communication we remain gullible and easily manipulated by a group of people who care solely about fattening their pockets”. Are you actually in Dominica or overseas? technology, education and communication – You don’t seem to be in Dominica or else you would not have said that there we are not advanced in technology, education and communication. If you are here then put on your glasses and look around you or if you are only at home and probably not going out, let me give you a tour of the country. You need to go to the College on any given day and you will see the number of students who attend the college.

“Today the country is in destruction” – can you please point one one place that is in destruction? You should be able to bring out facts when making accusations. Perhaps you need to tune on to BBC, CNN and the other TV News Station and Radio Stations and listen to the news of what is happenning around the world whilst we are being spared by the hands of Our Mighty Father. You need to repent of trying to call destruction upon our land and say a big “Thank you Father for sparing our people and our land. Do you remember what happenned about 1 year ago in one of our sister island – Haiti and what they are still sufferring? You are hurting our Father in Heaven by your unfounded words and you need to say ‘sorry”.
