Skerrit bashes Linton on motion of no confidence

Skerrit said the vote of no confidence is a joke
Skerrit said the vote of no confidence is a joke

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has come out swinging against Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, describing him as the most incompetent Leader of the Opposition in Dominica.

Skerrit was responding to a question at a press conference on Friday morning about a motion of no confidence against him to be tabled by Linton in Parliament on October 19, on allegations that Skerrit has mismanaged the economy.

The Prime Minister laughed at the motion saying it is a joke and he cannot be distracted by what he called “lazy men.”

“I have not met, including the supporters of the Opposition, one person who has not laughed when they heard this, including from their own supporters, including from members of the parliament,” he said. “They will not say so publicly, some of them, but, I mean, they are laughing at this. It’s a joke, it’s a joke.”

He stated that if anyone wants to question any country in the world for proper management of state finances, “it is going to be Dominica…”

Skerrit pointed out that Linton has not been assisting the people of Marigot, even when the government offers help.

“This a gentleman who I offer last year, 15 petrocasas – 15, three-bedroom petrocasa with two washrooms for the citizens of Marigot – and he has not moved one finger to take advantage of this 15 petrocasas in the initial instance,” he said. “This is a member of parliament who criticizes the government by saying we do not help Marigot people with school supplies, not knowing that over 60 students from Marigot received books, shoes, uniform, and in some cases school bags, from the government of Dominica to attend school.”

Additionally, he noted that Linton had demonstrated over feeder roads in Marigot and “who knows I gave the village council of Marigot $30,000 to do some repairs to that road.”

“The monies have been sitting in the council in a fixed deposit, I have been told in the streets, for over a year, for over a year,” Skerrit stated.

He said it is against Linton a vote of no confidence should be brought.

“So if there is anybody in this country, in the parliament who a vote of no confidence should be held against, it’s Mr. Linton, it’s Mr. Linton,” he noted. “Mr Linton is the most incompetent and ineffective Opposition Leader. He’s beaten the Member of Salisbury ten to one and the member of Salisbury was bad.”

He added, “Everybody is laughing about this thing, everybody say it’s a joke.”

Skerrit said jokes cannot be taken to parliament.

“We cannot go to parliament with jokes, we have to go to parliament with serious business,” he said. “It’s a joking you are making Mr. Linton. I am speaking to you. Let us take parliament seriously, my brother.”

DNO why dont you carry a poll – vote of no confidence motioned for Roosevelt Skerrit and the Labour Party. The economy is stagnant, and this is a great reason for a vote of no confidence. The PM stated that the country economy was so good that persons from overseas will be coming down to work. Lord help us; the PM is just making baseless statements and his senseless base is drinking it like red cool Aid. Any right thinking/understanding normal person will see that the economy is bad and the people are suffering.

All countries have debts. Even government of those countries cut staff. They try to find ways and means of decreasing costs.
Recently I heard a government official stated he wants to rescind the tax-free income of a certain level for the poor which the former Canadian government had given them.
Those who write reports on especially D/ca, their country is in no better shape.
Therefore, get off the PM’s back. You are too wicked. The PM is doing what he can and at every turn you criticize him and debase him. Shame on you!
When last you prayed for yourself, for D/ca, the government and other nationals? This is what you critics should be doing.
Is it possible that a person could be so ineffective? You people are blatant liars. I do not trust you.
Tell the world the reason why you consistently get on the PM’s back. It is because you do not support him. You are bias. One day you will pay for this. It will come from Heaven above. God sees and take notes.

This so called PM is a sick and delusional person. Most Dominicans with commonsense and a little honesty will tell you the country is in a dire state of stagnation. Hence, this vote of NO CONFIDENCE is timely indeed to highlight the plight of the average Dominican.

When I now hear from the mouth of the biggest labourite in the Mahaut constituency that he now see how this country has collapsed from its hey-day I “must speak”. Sadly though, out of shame and fear of retribution these people pretend that they are comfortable with the status-quo but behind closed doors its a different story. Skerrit continues to ridicule the citizens of this blessed land even sending his own “once famous press attache to supervise street cleaning in Roseau” simply because he is all powerful. But let me remind him of the famous words of my granny; ” careful whose toes you step on today because it may be connected to the A** that will have to suck up to tomorrow”.

Which country in the world is not in a state of stagnation? Do you know the progress of their economy and the unemployment statistics? I suppose you do not read international news and also of the US of all. They are all in a mess. They cannot fix anything. Governments come and go, with all their promises the situation gets worst.
Whoever they are tell them to pray and cease their criticisms. You do the same.
Do what you can for D/ca and for yourself
Be fair and broadminded. The world is not getting better. It may have nothing to do with the government. Some of the people as you make it worst. You are too ungrateful. You consistently make a mountain out of a molehill. You need a change of heart. Tell them to genuinely worship God and pray!

Debates of all nature should be encouraged in our parliament and should be respected
Skerrit needs to step aside, and respect the Opposition, and the Opposition Leader Hon Linton.

The Leader of the Opposition is making a mockery of our democracy. The man should bring a vote of non confidence on himself.

I hope the UWP can do as the Republicans and remove themselves from what he is proposing making all of them look as incompetent . The UWP members who voted for those in parliament should encourage them when the vote is brought to the floor, they can have the intelligence to vote against the Leader of the Opposition because he is taking them down or is that his intention?

The UWP bringing a vote of non-confidence against the Prime Minister of Dominica? Is this a joke or a dream?

Honourable Prime Minster, most Dominicans have complete confidence in you and our Government whereas most Dominicans have no confidence in the Leader of the Opposition and the UWP to do anything good for Dominica. Its like all them pundits of Linton on fire. The PM response to Linton erractic decision to move vote of no confidence is well in place. If its PM is not correct that Linton is the worst opposition leader, why was there a unanimous decision by members to outs him in favor of Joshua? What did linton fo for the people of marigot after TS Erika. Nothing.

All he was interested in was to share leadership during the reconstruction period post TS ERIKA. A man who is always calling for unrest in the country, making statement to incite his people to cause mayhem. I say a motion of no confidence should be instituted aganist this manopposition leader.
On the other hand it evident for all to see the country has evolved quickly after the TS. You notice how he singularises / personalises his thoughts re D/ca’s prized asset… its tax payers’ monies. By saying, and when he repeatedly utters such words:
    • “This a gentleman who I offered last year, 15 petrocasa homes” ….
    • “I gave the village council council of Marigot $30,000 to do some repair to that road”

You need to ask the other pastors who opened churches in Dominica. I would think their Bibles were not printed in Dominica. Whoever may have printed them changed some words. These are the people you must confront about it.
Their churches beginning with Calvin, Martin Luther and Henry VIII, watered-down the Bible. They removed what did not suit them and interpreted the Bible according to their mentality and lifestyle. This is a result of what happens when the Word of God is dissected to suit such people. God will deal with them in time.
It has nothing to do with the PM. He did not instruct them to re-write the Bible and/or change the words. Why would you think he is responsible? Are you all there?

You are totally right! There is something going on! People are saying that it is the ‘mandela effect’.

I have had my KJV bible since childhood. It belonged to my father. I read is constantly and know for certain that it never said that Jesus was hanged from a tree. NEVER!! My bible now has ‘highways’, penny, bank, piss, alien, bottle, stuff, corn, table (for 10 commandments), matrix and gender.

Please check your bibles and you will see that words you know have NEVER been in it have suddenly appeared. There is a list on the Internet of all the mandela effect changes that have been made. Effectively, the changes have ‘rewritten’ the past. This is scary.
        http://mandela-effect.bplaced.net/doku.php?id=changes_in_bible-translations_overview

Remember this is not due to translation errors. The changes that have been made have DELETED
        original content from EVERYTHING!

If Mr. Linton is as incompetent as he wants us to believe why waste days, months, years talking about him. Since Linton was appointed leader of the opposition, he has been like a dagger in the heart of Skeritt. Can you remember the infamous DLP meeting in Lagoon, Linton’s name was mentioned over two thousand times in four hours. Listen to Tony, Simeon, Mcintyre D, Aaron, De Ghost and the senior citizen from Kings Hill, if Linton’s name is not mentioned their is no talk show. As for Delvin Cast, he eats, drinks, sleeps Linton. Sometimes they spend so much time on Linton that they forget to even mention Skerrit’s name or all what Skeritt claims to be doing for Dominica. If the press was to take a poll as to who is more popular between Mr. Linton and Skeritt, in terms of whose name is mentioned the most in Dominica, Mr. Linton would win hands down. You claim the man is a dummy, he is incompetent, he is a nonentity, why waste you energy talking about him.

    1. PM is asking the Leader of the Opposition to take 15 Petrocas that was meant for people who lost their homes in Petit Savanne and give to the people in Marigot who have not lost homes.

This is called mis-appropriation of properties meant for people in Petit Savanne ….in short CORRUPTION

Hon. PM, its not everything that you do or every decision that you have made during your tenure is an honorable one or one that is so welcomed by all the citizens of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
You insinuate that everyone laughed at the motion to be tabled, I did not laugh because I thought it was necessary since the Opposition has a right and freedom of opinion and actions under the Constitution. You take this motion for a joke in the same way you take the Constitution as a joke and do things as you please. My Hon PM, politics is not food and care and food and care are not politics. It is a dire shame that Dominica has become overtaken with politics that persons become busy on the street doing nothing other that discussing the subject. Electoral reform is welcome, and your should welcome it too; it is called transparency; it is called ethics in administration; it is called good governance; it is called democracy.

With all due respect, Dominicans have only themselves to blame for what is going on in the country. If he leadership of the DLP was so bad and the people were suffering, I would like some intelligent folk to tell me why were the polls dominated to re-elect the present government. It can only be either the people are thoughtless or they love misery. It is happened like the proverb, “the pig has returned to its wallowing in the mire”

Nonetheless, it is clear that the country has evolved into a political arena where anything that happens sharply depends on a political decision whether or not it should happen. Politics is a divisional tool and the devil is sure making use of that tool to keep the people of Dominica divided. I see no reason why there should be a political war by reason of a vote of no confidence to be tabled at the HOA meeting.
I see no reason why the Hon PM should more than humiliate himself like he is afraid of the motion.

Building Roads, Schools, Health Clinics and Police Stations are simply part of what the Government should be doing for its citizens. Therefore, you DON’T get any credit for doing any of these. I would never call Dominica the poorest and slowest economy. I will never encourage anyone to say that. If anyone says this in my company, be it through any sort of news, I will defend Dominica.
First of all Dominica has some school drop-outs, some who have never contributed to the economy but they excel in criticizing the PM.
Furthermore the PM is not the first one. There were others before him including Chief Ministers. If anyone has to make such a derogatory statement about Dominica and the PM, they should go further back.
They expect the PM to be a miracle worker. I could cite much more.

Are you one of those who came to vote here on a ticket provided by the local labour party? Even if you didn’t I would suggest you come and live here for a while and experience the poor state of our country life!

Skerret met the Marigot hospital that served not just Marigot people but the whole of Dominica so Linton and every Dominican have every right to demand the Marigot hospital be immediately built and put back in place. People like you and the blood suckling labour party government supporters must stop suckling the life blood of Dominicans. Your day of reckoning will come sooner than you think.
