Oliver “O.J.” Seraphine is a former prime minister of Dominica who served in an interim capacity after the removal from office of Dominica’s first prime minister, Patrick Roland John.
John, who led Dominica, a former British colony and associated state, to independence in 1978, died at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital this morning.
In the following statement, Seraphine pays tribute to the man who can perhaps be aptly described as the father of the Dominican nation.
