General Secretary of Dominica’s youngest political movement, Team Unity Dominica (TUD), Alex Bruno, is calling on opposition parties to join forces and unite to defeat the incumbent Dominica Labour Party (DLP).
Bruno’s call comes in the wake of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s announcement on Sunday evening, of a snap general election, which is scheduled for December 6, 2022.
Despite the main opposition United Workers Party’s (UWP) disclosure that they will not participate in what they have labelled as a “fraudulent election”, Bruno believes that now is the time for “cool heads to prevail…and for us to decide once and for all, what is in the best interest of the people and our country, not our party.”
According to him, his party stands ready, willing and able to enter the “fray” and called on his colleagues in the opposition consortium to get serious and do something meaningful and right, based on proper strategic guidelines and not on partisan ego and emotions.
“We can win, if and when we do it together,” the political scientist declared on Facebook live earlier today. “This moment creates an opportunity for us to do it together. For us to win for the people because a lot of the schemes and the strategies and semantics, which had been employed in the calling of elections, can be re-employed by us to switch the advantage in our favour, and there are ways of doing it.”
He added, “We can win, but we must want to win. Let us not squander this opportunity by pulling ourselves in our own lanes and saying that we alone can, because that is not how we’re going to win for Dominica.”
Bruno expressed his team’s regret for not being able to join the meeting held with the various opposition parties and groups last evening, which he says was against their greatest effort to do so. However, he is hopeful that the next time a meeting is conceived, TUD will have a sit around the table to decide how we fix that problem “that we have found ourselves in.”
According to Bruno, if no political party contests against the current DLP when the electorate heads to the poll early next month, the present regime will be given the authority to rule “with a more imposing mandate than they would have ever dreamt about.”
He once again reiterated that “all hands must be on deck. All ideas must contend, all egos should be left at the door and the right plan, the right team with the right strategy and a cool message should prevail.”

If Alex wasn’t able to attend the meeting he could have designated one of the members of the TUD team to sit in even if that person couldn’t take any decisions on behalf of the party. Stop trying to play “sly fox Alex” I believe that you plan to contest the election to give legitimacy to your group and be the opposition in parliament. That’s a backdoor opportunity you might not be able to let pass you by.
Who cares whether the opposition contest election or not.The objective of the majority of Dominicans is to prevent the UWP from ever ruling this country again.A political party that is 34 years old,and has been defeated 6 out of 7 times,should disappear.UWP can never and will never survive without the support of the people,and THAT,they don’t have and have never had.They believe to win an election they believe the country and people must be put in a garbage pail.The people must be described as poor,hungry,dirty,uneducated and stupid beggers,and UWP expect support from these same PEOPLE.

Great idea to join forces Alex since your message is unity. However, I must ask who will be the leader/Prime Minister? Who is your formidable candidate that you are proposing to run DA? You need to answer that to secure the trust of the people. Until your unified party is ready with that answer then get ready for a hell of a ride.
If you want to come to the people with a unified proposal, come with all your pieces in place, don’t just shout out an idea. People will not just blindly vote a unified party in with no direction. Come better than that!!!! When you do, then you will be supported.

The opposition needs to come up with a strategy that shows unity. I say this because from where I sit, I observe a lack of unity in purpose and focus. Some are talking about participating in the election of December 6, 2022, while others are saying let’s boycott. This can’t work.
How can any opposition politician win an election with such an assiduously corrupt electoral system? Even if the opposition parties were to unite they cannot win a seat.
The cry should be no electoral reforms no election. Nothing else. Participating in another election without the reforms put forward by the Commonwealth, OAS and CARICOM, three competent, well renowned organizations, will be an exercise in futility.

Alex is part of the problem in the political arena in Dominica. Many of us suspected that this party is a Skerrit initiative which is fronted by a useful idiot. The main opposition parties have taken a decision to boycott the elections and if this team unity was real opposition they would fall in line with that decision. A dog have a better chance of giving birth to a horse than this part has a chance of winning enough seats to form a government, so their participation in the election would be only to add some twisted legitimacy to the sham elections that Skerrit intends to conduct. In previous posts I encouraged the opposition parties to run. But after thinking of it thoroughly today and after listening to the distrusted Alex Bruno calling on the opposition to run, I want to take back all my previous calls and I am standing in full support with the opposition parties decision to not run.
Alex Bruno is one of the most dishonest persons Dominica has produced and I have no doubt that he is a servant of Roosevelt Skerrit sent to give the world the impression that elections are free and fair in Dominica . No they not free Alex and Skerrit and therefore opposition parties should stay out so Skerrit could have a highway with all green lights to do the things he wants to do.

If all you want to look a.S-olds run against Skeritt without electoral reform. What a dumb “paid” idea. None of the Haitians (which is enough to put Skeritt over the top) will vote for you all. Nor the foreigners who have more rights than we the native. We know of several “dead people” who resurrect to vote for the devil and then they return to hell.
